I played a bit of Aion on the chinese server for very short, had few videos showing some of the starter areas and combat in aion up on youtube, among them one video showing a 5 minutes footage of bots controling various starter maps but Ncsoft filed a copyright claim on the video and it got removed. When I searched other bot movies most of them were gone. Anyone else experienced this lately? :-)
PS just to clarify from my 3 videos only the one showing bots got removed, no copiright claims on the ones showing nice images of character creation and combat ;-).

You-tube is retarded. Anyone can claim a copyright on anything with no evidence at all and have it pulled. You can just send them an email and claim a dozen channels are violating your copyright, and they will all be deleted. You-tube is over, use another video site.
I really don't care. Why would you make a moving watching 2 to 3 bots for 5 minutes. Not trying to cut into your hard work, but let it go. They have a right to take down junk like that. Also possibly thinking that your showing videos from US beta they can do that too.

RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
I already made a thread about this.
For me it's not just about NCsoft, Youtube doesn't check who owns the videos and doesn't care about fair use rules. It's cheaper to just delete the videos than to actually check if NCsoft has any rights to claim the videos, which they usually don't, unless it's an NCsoft made trailer.
It's pretty disingenuous from NCsoft and pretty .. hm, low?..to abuse this.

I care a bit for the movies but much more for the way of approaching the problem. Those movies (mine and others) were not trying to bash the game at all, I for one am waiting for this game ever since I got out of L2. We were just trying to point out that Aion in Asia and in China in my case is actually turning into a Lineage 2 bot-wise. They were not about 2-3 bots they were about full areas swarming with bots. I'm not sure about their right to take it down (didn't read the chinese EULA ) but I would have preferred NcSoft saying that in the NA/EU they'd take care of the problem by this and that (getting rid of the game guard and putting some real protection would be a start) not just push the garbage under the carpet... Anyway I took down all my Aion movies in the mean time and guess I'll wait to see how they solve this in the EU version, hopefully they'll do more than deleting movies and forum posts
darn thats bad.....so any other place which allow pple to upload videos ?
If anyone really cares, I've still been playing and my free server goes P2P on the 15th and they actually started ridding themselves of the bots. Not just one at a time but since a certain downtime there have gone from maybe 200 bots in an area to about 10. There are still bots, and they still get through the cracks but the point is they are banning them and surprisingly before anyone has to pay any fees. I figured it would happen once it went P2P but guess not.

There you go.
Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the movies other than to try to make NCSoft look bad?
- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
If NCSoft didn't want to look bad, they would get rid of the bots. The videos are trying to present a real aspect of the game.
if you can't beat bots, join them.
Which FF Character Are You?

Dont be ridiculous, its not an objective view. They are probably doing more than anyone else to get rid of bots and problems in their game, they don't need people creating negative publicity. I could make a 5 minute video of bots in WoW, and show it to people and they might think the game is bot infested.
American gamers and kids are retarded, this is why its being done.
Because the videos are from China servers which are run by another company?
Because the EU/NA version of Aion hasn't been released yet?
Because ppls like you cry everyday "BOTS IN CHINES SERVERS OMG!@*!&*@" ?
Wait till the EU/NA version will be released here, then u can make as many videos as you want and post them on youtube , then i am pretty sure that no one will remove your videos.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!

I'm sorry but I don't see the constructive arguments you brought to the discussion. Your "because" sentences don't make any sense in this topic(videos from Korea and China shouldn't be under NDA). Your last statement is probably true but we were trying to raise alarm bells before the game hits live. We don't want another Lieage 2 story. If NCSoft starts to think about improving their game guard after launch we would have already lost.
Also, I don't understand the point of "they removed them because they put the game in a bad light" thing. This is not called copyright claim it would be censorship since they did not take out my videos presenting the good side of the game (I took them out myself). I find more reasuring the news that they are actually starting to fight bots on both chinese and korean servers than the lack of videos showing the other side of NCSoft games. But I guess some people prefer to see the world painted pretty and the holes in the picture carefully hidden away.

Sure, they're trying. But are there bots in the game? Yes. Should that be made known to someone whose never heard of the game, but is interested? Yes.
Are there good things about the game? Absolutely. There are plenty of videos about those things that aren't getting pulled from Youtube. If anything, these videos should motivate them to get rid of the bots even faster, and then people can laugh at these bot vids and say, "Damn, the game used to be that bad? There's practially no bots today. NCSoft is a great company!"
I guess there's not much anyone can do about it at this point.
I would love to know if this was on a F2P server during the 15 day trials they offer. If so, you would've cleared up 90% of the questions/comments people have.

Tricky question that one, I arrived there following links of how to play th chinese open beta a while back so I guess it was the open beta. After that I ugraded the account and played for short but then decided to wait for the EU version since I really liked what I saw and didn't want to ruin the novelty. Highest I got was to 19 with both races (2 chanters because I lack imagination ). I'd still wait for Ncsoft to anounce some major things against bots before pre-ordering but I'm pretty confident I'll be playing as soon as it goes live the game really cought me .
I don't see where this is going but I'd guess on a F2P trial server they'd be more bots out there because is for free or less bots because is a trial server so no buyers? And I see many people relate to chinese servers but many movies that got wiped alongside mine were also from the Korean servers and unless Ncsoft put some strange things in the EULA (like ncosft owns the rights of all your pictures and movies you make in the live game) I don't see how they could "legally" issue copyright claims on those.
Comn, theres bots in every MMO, EVERY MMO. The only reasonable reason one would post a vid of 5 mins of bots in a game is to try and hurt it. You pick an MMO, I could make 5mins of bots running around in it. So by your logic, if anyone asks me about an MMO, I should tell them there's bots in it. WoW? Check. EQ? Check. 100% of F2Ps? Check.
Having bots in the game doesn't make it a bad game. If I released an MMO full of pixelated sprites with no animations and generic fireballs and an itemshop, and a $30-a-month fee, had it full of bots, then a few months down the line remove them all, I could say "Hey its so much better now!" because of that?
Besides, its not the official NA servers. Said this somewhere else, but please just f***ing shut it about bots in the asian servers. You chose to play on those servers, even when you aren't supposed to, so deal with it. When it releases to NA, then you can cry and whine all you want about bots. NCSoft isn't the company running it there if I remember correctly, so they are not responsible for the bots in the asian versions of the game. Once it hits our shores, go ahead, post all the vids you want, but how about you actually try and help them too? I'm pretty bloody sure they have a "report" button for spam and the like. So instead of posting vids on Youtube so every idiot who sees it will talk sh** about the game, actually do a little work towards helping.

First off try to keep the discusion civil it doesn't help your cause being aggressive. As for the oher comments is true in China there is a bad company behind the game (or so I hear) but as you should know NcSoft is a korean company and they are running the game in their own house. And no, there is no "report" button in game that I could find but there were rumors of such a "button" being implmented, it just didn't make it in the live version (yet I hope). You could go through the normal open petition - wait - talk to gm - wait but that's about it. And some of us think that posting and disussing things that are bad vs things that are good actually help the game, I guess everybody can see this differently. As you can see nobody so far is bashing Aion or the game and all of us are eagerly waiting for it to come out. So keep a civil discussion about the other aspects of the game as civil as you can please .

I'm sure they are doing everything they can to get rid of the bots, they don't need videos to tarnish their name. Plus people are playing Korean/Chinese with english patches and such things, and its not even the same companies that will be running the game in NA.

True, but NCSoft Korea isn't the same NCSoft we deal with. And to play the Korean version you need a Korean ID, which is illegal to fake or steal, so once again, any NA/EU player who decided to get onto the Asian servers should just shut their traps and deal with it instead of posting videos from the Asian servers and screaming "Bot Infestation!".
I have no issues with discussing bad vs good in a game, but Botting isn't completely in their control. A bot is different from a glitch, exploit, or a difference in numbers, a bot is a program, and the group who create the programs will always be updating it to insure it works and they profit. It's like a virus. The company has to update their product to stop Vers. 1, but the Virus will always be updated to 1.1, then 1.2, and the like. And unlike a glitch or exploit, which just requires some code-reworking, to prevent the botters means continually working on it, on top of balancing and adding content. And while it may be nice to have a bot free game, the work behind it will show in the game.
And sorry for being a little uncivil, I just hate seeing people complain about a game they can't even legally play, and act like its going to be the exact same way when it releases here. Partly why I feel they need to stop posting vids, because as I said, "idiots" will look at the video and that will change their thoughts. Because instead of doing the logical thing and trying it on their own, they rely on the loudest person to affect their judgements.
Why solve a problem when you can cover it up?
This game must be really fun. So fun that they're willing to let a bot play for them.
I guess is true we will never know for sure until it hits the markets. Still some positive signals from NcSoft implementing new anti bot measures would really be welcomed, I mean is one of the disadvantages of doing localized launch every one will be looking at what you are doing in the other regions while you are preparing the next launch. I guess after fighting with gold sellers for a spot in catacombs in L2 for so long I got a bit over causious when I see bots in a NcSoft game that I really like .
/agree on that
I used YouTube in the past to upload MMO movies. A lot got deleted / IP blocked due to music. Even the ones that had music that I played with WinAMp during recording, and thus don't include whole tracks.
YouTube is over for me, but I'm now looking for a new site to upload my movies. If none, I'll drop them on my own website in flash format...
Maybe you do get bots in all MMOs. The difference is that NCSoft games seem to get overrun with them to the point that they become the rule rather than the exception. Also you can play on the Chinese severs legally.

To be honest a lot of you need to stop thinking getting rid of bots and preventing bots is as easy as installing an ad blocker. You didn't make the ad blocker or know the time it took to put in all the codes and find out how the ads and pop ups get around most browser defenses. It's not an instant process. This game is not even an instant process.
