Ok I will start by saying I am not playing Vanguard Currently took a break back around November December time frame. However I have played pretty much since open beta of the game. I was part of what some might call an Uber guild (even though the guild was great and didnt force anything) and boy do I have a ton of screenshots, so I figured I would share some to show people what the game really looks like...
My computer? Its a laptop.. I play on a Gateway FX series laptop with a T8300 Core2 processor 2.4 GHz, Geforce 8800Mobility with 512megs of dedicated ram and 3 gigs of ram... Overall a pretty good system for a laptop but not nearly top of the line for a desktop.. Ohh yes I also play off a Verizon Wireless Network USB modemn... So wireless connection to boot. and the game runs good if i have a good tower or signal to play on.
Anyway here are some shots.

I am a "founder" with this game as I bought it when it first came out. It was dreadfull at first, but still somehow charming. I really am pulling for Vanguard as I think fundamentally, it's a good game. I know they have really made a lot of improvements and seem to be working hard to get people to come back and give it a try. Who knows, I just may.
Well, I have to say that I had never any intention of playing Vanguard. At all. Just wasn't on my list of games.
But the huge world and the sense of exploration is just so "different" from what is out there now that I will always keep a Vanguard account just to explore a little or do a quest or two.
I think you said it best in that there is a certain charm to the whole game. As long as people are forgiving with its issues it can be very fun.
If players are "particular" and little things drive them nuts then by all means they should stay away from Vanguard.

Vanguard to me is one of the best games created... even with its flaws.. Like I said above though I am currently playing WAR mainly for a change of pace. I havent played since they upped the level cap to 55... So I might end up going back. One thing that Vanguard failed to do though was add a feat/talent or AA system... I realize this is upcoming but its one of the things i love in the more modern games.
What Vanguard does offer though in spades is great class balance, amazing PVE content a HUGE world in which you can literally lose yourself.. There is just so much to do. When I stopped playing the game ran amazingly well. Actually on my computer it runs better than WAR does. I crash 2 or 3 times a day in WAR... I hardly ever crash in Vanguard.. Their still is chunking but thats how the game is broken up. Instead of zoning you chunk with a slight pause.
Anyway I just wanted to share those few pics with people so they could see what Vanguard does have to offer...
Here is a few more.
cool thread
i have vanguard, never played it longer than a few days for various reasons. threads like this make me consider installing it again.
Games i'm playing right now...
"In short, I thought NGE was a very bad idea" - Raph Koster talking about NGE on his blog at raphkoster.com
It's okay but not really my cup of tea. Plus it's one of the only MMOs I've played where I have performance issues. I think great graphics is not just about being high powered but well designed to run on the max amount of machines. Aion, Warhammer, LotRO all ran better AND look better in my opinion.
Still the game has some interesting points but it just wasn't for me.
I do like the way Aion looks.... just was posting this for peeps to see.. Currently I am playing WAR myself... I like the artistic direction of WAR even if it is simplistic graphically polygon wise.
Okay. That looks utterly amazing. I have played the trial, however, and I never got it to look anywhere close to that. I have a very, very high end machine running Vista 64. I can crank the graphics to max, but...there is no anti aliasing. There is HDR, but even with that I cannot get it to look anywhere near anything what you have here. Am I missing something?
I know it sounds incredibly shallow, but after playing games with high-quality graphics, I find it very difficult to play a game where models have jagged edges, or textures are repetitive and stupid looking. I am not saying VG has that last; their textures are amazing, and the models, even in the starting area, are unique and interesting.
Can someone help me out?

As a Vanguard player , i must oppose to advertising it in this way.
These screenshots show some of the best angles where game looks good.
I could send you 10 others where it looks dreadfull.
Problem with Vanguard graphic was never how good it looked on the places. But the fact that there is no consistency.
Its a mix of great stuff and some dreadfull stuff - all together in one
Its because Vanguard never had consistent art team vorking on it. No art direction.
They had some extremely talented people. That did some stuff. Other was done by colledge trainees...
It had always been in the back of my mind to try this again.
I quit shortly after release as the game was both severely bugged and had terrible lag, but for all it's issues it did seem a decent game - It just wasn't ready to be released.
Now it seems the game has matured a bit, and had it not been for the fact that I'm currently downloading LoTRo, I would be downloading this.
Good post OP, nice screenies
Some of my recent screenies.....
While I will agree with you on parts of the game definately need improvements. I will say that the game overall looks really good... The areas that do need improvement is Architecture of alot of the buildings... The buildings look really dull in most cases. Also one of the things that bothered me was the lack of dyes for armor... You can seriously go through 48 levels without matching.. Games like WAR or AoC or some others allow you to look at least somewhat cohesive in character appearance. Also the weapon choices... Some weapons look nice some dont.
However I will say I have literally hundreds of other screenshots that I could also post to show the way Vanguard looks. Most of them are amazing..
Ohh for the person posting above about anti aliasing. Force your card to anti alias...shouldnt have any issues. Overall Vanguard is a great looking game... and thanks for the positive feedback everyone.
yup , there is no aa for vanguard in game.. and its really needed feature, but its easily enabled via nvidia panel, or ati , even if after installing game nvidia control panel wont detect game, just browse to game exe and force aa to whateva lvl you like.. higher slower obviously game looks incredible with aa.. those screenshots easily prove that.. and vg is second best looking game.. after conan obviously, and no aion is nowhere near vg or conan..

Beautiful. Thank you very much. This game is just lovely to look at, even in the trial area.

Some of my low level SS, but please bear in mind my PC hasnt been upgraded at all for around 1- 2 years. Still get 50fps on average though. It always boggles me that when you take the time to stop and look around you in VG that you can reach any point that you can see... None of it is window dressing or backdrop. The world is stunning.
VG is the best traditional co-op play fantasy mmorpg out there rght now imo. If that isnt what your looking for, fine, but if it is this game is a must try now it has matured.
I think that is the biggest difference when comparing VG screenshots with other visually stunning MMOs... in Vanguard, nothing is a backdrop or some artist's static mural. It's all actually there, if you see a storm in the distance, then it's there and people are getting rained on as you look at it. Everything you see is accessible, you can go to those mountain tops or distance shorelines. It all becomes apparent when you see a tiny speck in the distance over a mountain and realize it is someone flying on their Griffon.
Some of the other more recent and good looking MMOs I've played everything not close to you is simply a backdrop, can't go there, can't explore it, just a picture to look at.
