My only complaint about WoW...

hubertgrovehubertgrove Member Posts: 1,141

I recently stopped playing WoW after subscribing for four years - though I only played for about two or so months each year, just letting the subscription run because I was too lazy to cancel. I had eight characters and only got one to L80 though I have five others at L70 or so.

I really enjoyed the game. I liked the graphic style and the real effort that Blizzard put into storytelling and varying the landscapes and dungeons.

My only complaint about WoW is that when you finally do hit L80, the game is pretty much over unless you spend the endgame grinding for gear so that you will be allowed in groups who would allow you to raid. so you can grind for more gear... and so on.

I was always unlucky with the guilds on my server and so I never really raided. It was hard enough betting on PUGs for low-level heroics. I don't really mind not getting the gamorous epic armor and weapons but I am kind of disappointed that I never got to see and explore the huge, beautifully rendered dungeons of Naxx and Ulduar. It's a pity that WoW isn't able to envisage some way that soloers can visit these dungeons without having to be in the company of twenty-five others all scrabbling for loot and spamming ;Y U No Heal?' and 'Gimme Sword of Fury +2, Nub!'.

wow is a massive MULTYPLAYER game, that means there will prolly be MULTYPLAYER content

so I guess, you could have kinda expected this, when you started playing wow 4 years ago

btw, you can do naxx and ulduar with 10 or even less if you want

I only experienced Kharazan. However, I really do not mind if I missed the Raids. Besides, I am a casual player and there is a lot to do out of Raids.

My only complaint about WoW is the introduction of Death Knights. Stormwind looks like a scourge city. I wished Blizzard banished the  pets, such as demons and scourge minions, in main cities. I left the Moonguard server with great dissapointment as I liked to RP, but I could not stand it anymore. This hero class was a good marketing move, and a free ticket for me to cancel and play something else.

There are good guilds out there. It just takes a lot of time and energy to find them. And sometimes a server transfer may be in order.

I have to say that I met some very kind and helpful people in WoW but on the whole, the community was rotten. Very poor indeed. I played on Daggerspine EU and Stormscale EU. I have played SWG, EQ2, LOTRO, COV/H and VG and, in all other cases, I found their communities to be much more generous, mature and fun to be around. Maybe I was just unlucky in the WoW servers I chose.

For me to enjoy WoW, I ended up starting up my own guild, building a small community of people who didn't suck.

We had fun, we helped each other out, it was very unheard of at the time :)

I don't think that gamers really understand the importance of community, and their role in it.

You are exactly right.  The game ended for me at 80.  I am now making 29s and 49s.  I also can't do 60 AV anymore because of the 4 million OP Deathknights.  I recently started leveling an old mid 60s lock on Black Dragonflight.  I am constantly getting jacked by DKs.   It is stupid to mplay that toon because when I hit 80 the game is done.

Is that a US or EU server?

US players of this game are supposed to be a lot nicer than their Euro equivalents because, for some reason, they tend to be a little bit older.

It was on Spinebreaker, a US Server.

We banned people for using the word "Noob". lol  They all thought we were joking, but it only took a few times before they saw I was serious.  As silly as it sounds, it helped get the point across that asshats were not welcome in our guild.  We're all here to have fun, and no one needs to be ridiculed for their lack of experience.

I don't have an 'only' complaint, but there are a few things that jump to mind in terms of improvements.

The crafting system is kind of boring.  I think SWG has a much more interesting crafting system.

Character creation could be improved considerably.

Housing and the ability to create cities would be nice.

This is why I can't wait for Diablo 3!  See ya there.

I am very sorry that you did not experience WoW's end-game content, well most probably you've been unlucky in meeting those dedicated and mature players that would have possibly prolonged your stay. You could have tried starting afresh in a different server and who knows, maybe your luck with other people will change.

LOL you just suck. I recently started leveling my 50ish 'lock, and  I go through DK's like a hot knife thru butter.

As for the game being done at 80, you couldn't be any farther from the truth. The game starts at 80, unless you simply enjoy leveling. There are so many options available at 80 that to say that the game is ended is ludicrous. Raiding, instances, world pvp, BG pvp, arenas, hell even just flying around and gathering just to name a few of the options.

Maybe he doesn't suck and maybe you're not good. Maybe all the other DK you fight are the ones that suck. There are other possibilities. Typical comment from a typical WoW player.

The complaint you make is true of almost every MMO except WoW.   I remember feeling the way you do many times in the past.. but no more.  Even in WoW when I first hit 60 I remember standing around in Ironforge thinking... I dont want to raid right now... so now what?

I've been 80 for months and still cant find enough time to accomplish all my goals....   there is WAY more to do endgame then there ever has been in an MMO before.. I've been playing MMO's for 9 years.

    Heroic 5 mans

    Raids

    Achievements

    Titles

    Rare Mounts

    Companion collecting

    Battlegrounds

    Wintergrasp

    Arena Teams

    Argent tournament

    Gaining rep for rewards

and making money for better enchants and other things you might want to buy....

.......  thats just off the top of my head

The server I use most..Cenarion Circle...was pretty decent. After about 7 months away...I log on and find many more ass hats than I was accustomed to experiencing.  I still like the game..because I mostly solo..I guess that's why I can stand it all. I tried to find a casual Guild...but  when I join...they either start expecting detailed schedules from you (after stating they are very casual) or they break up from ridiculous drama. One I was in for about a month...had about 60 people and seemed very friendly and all around cool...great to group with..and thought ..hey maybe I'll try a few raids...THEN...the leaders booted everyone except themselves...two people...because a few people went to another guild. I was actually told that I did nothing wrong...but the guild was "betrayed from within"...really..."betrayed"?...hilarious.

By the By: .. .SO....If anyone is on Cenarion Circle and has a very casual guild..send me a PM here at mmorpg.com....at this point I am only looking for a very casual guild because my hours of play vary greatly (I live on the east coast and play on a west coast server...long story) and will also diminish when I go back to school on Aug 25th ..

EH, personally, I'm quitting WoW cause I'm tired of everything in the game. I did find a guild, and thats the sole reason I've been playing so far is because I get along with them. The Argent Tournament is just another grind to me, the jousting was nice for a day or two, but it got old real quick, and the "seal" system really ruined it for me. Just a mandatory "You have to wait 7 days to get to the better part" system, with nothing added when you go to the next one.

Them removing the "raid mounts" from the achievements each patch is bloody annoying. Specially since the next patch isn't adding a raid thats part of progression and they are still removing the ulduar mounts. I don't have much time to play except during the summer, which is the only time I can raid (I'm still a mix of heroic and naxx gear), and far from even getting the Glory of raider achieves for Naxx, which basically means I won't be able to get the ulduar mounts by the time I'm geared enough to do it.

Best of all, is their reasoning for it. They removed said mounts because when you get gear from the next teir, it would make it all trivial. Personally, I don't think gear from Arthas himself would save an idiot who can't stay out of swarm, run when he gets injected, doesn't break LoS when saphh uses his uber-breath attack, can't dance, or stands next to melee during Kel's fights. Then, best yet, they have an achievement for Ulduar that requires you to only have gear of a certain iLevel to get it. Why couldn't they just add that to the Naxx achievements, really? And the same with Ulduar, what's so hard about that?

Then I remember that Blizzard's common sense has been a little out of whack as of late... (personal opinion mind you) ever since the Activision-Vivendi merger. It screams "Squaresoft-Enix" merger to me, yeah yeah they have released some good to great games, but overal they've been a pile of rotten fecal excrament...

Edit: Barcrow, yeah thats what's been happening with my guild. They were a casual guild that didn't want to turn out to be the elitist arse-hats and d-bag minmaxers who ban you for rolling engineer instead of leather-working. It was that way at first, and stayed that way til Lich King, after our first naxx clear one of the officers basically took command and bit down on every bit of joy. All of a sudden we were expected to clear everything in 2hrs, be completed jeweled/enchanted/whatever out, have the right elixirs/foods, and the like. It's changed again recently, but that was after a good 3-4 month break I had to take, they are a bit like the former selfs, but it just doesn't feel the same.
