Yeah it's true man. Life is too short. And now that we know NC west has not changed at all, we can go ahead and bot and RMT to our hearts content knowing that NC will say they are against it while cashing in on it and supporting it.

Say hi to my bots when you log in to the starter zone. Nice doing business with you NC! ;)

    Ok what ever you say

You, sir, are my new hero.

Maybe just a sign that NC west is the same as always, saying one thing and doing another.
Like in Lineage2 when they pretend to be against RMT while owning a company that sells Adena. Or pretending to be fighting bots when clearly they never did anything more than occasional token sweeps. Now that HGM Spam is on the case at Aion, I guess we can expect the same exact treatment as he provided us in L2.
Sign me up for the bot.  I'm not going to be left behind this time, now that I know how this works.

It's a preview event, something they definitely didn't lie about.

Oh yea, you caught them.  It was all a big ploy to sell a lot of preorder boxes that are 100% refundable from any retailer that sells them.

Are you some kind of detective or something?  I'm amazed!

PS: The ability to preorder a game is there to guarantee a box to those gamers want to buy the game the day of release, it's not a  money making scam.

PPS: You can get your money back for the preorder if you decide you don't want to buy the game.

PPPS: What was your point, again?

"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."

...I'm not a detective but I play one on the internet.

The point is that NC soft is deceptive to the core. They planned all along to have Open Beta, but pretended otherwise to increase pre-order sales. Which is clever, and I'm not crying about it. I'm only acknowledging the strategy.

Their lies are pathological. Its not going to stop me from playing. Just understand that when they say "Don't bot", that really means "Go ahead and bot". And when they say "Don't RMT" they mean "Make sure we get our cut". And when they say "No Open Beta" they mean "Buy early access that we're going to give away for free anyway, sucker".

Like I said in the OP, it's all good. ...Just pointing out yet another NC Lie (TM) (Patent pending).

I hope the OP realises that this thread is pointless. Anyone on this forum can and has claimed in the past that all companies more or less are involved in the things that were stated as fact in the original message. Which is of course hilarious.

firstly retailers dont lie. ncsoft destroyed tabula rasa and they will do the same here.after 2 years you will see aion only in asia. secondly if pre order gets you a beta key ,its a kind of open beta in itself.thirdly many of the gold selling companies have pre ordered millions of copies and have got their beta codes which they are selling for 7-10 bucks .google it and you will know.

Ayase's Q&A from StayOnTarget's link (with my commentary in white):

Is there going to be an "Open Beta"?

We won't have anything that goes by the specific name 'Open Beta' in the EU/US, but the Preview Events we are to hold next year will allow you to play the game (from home)...

No Open Beta, but instead preview events. OK, its true that does not exclude an open beta type preview event.

How will we select participants for the Preview Events?

We will be selecting players in several different ways. This is something we're looking into right now. GC2008 and PAX will be the first chances to secure slots.

The previews will be played by a SELECTED group of players. Selection, as in exclusion of the many and definitely not open to all.

If there is no beta, how will NA/EU players be able to have any input in the game?

As is the nature of most MMO's, development is perpetual, meaning that the importance of feedback does not stand or fall with the limited time period of 'beta testing'...

Thats right. Tip toe around the Open Beta issue Ayase. Trick them into pre-ordering when the time is right. Clever girl.

So, yeah. They played it like professional con artists. The setup in place a year in advance of the con being executed.  I am somewhat impressed. But then, it is what I expect from NC west.  BTW I never said I wouldn't buy Aion.  I bought the Korean version long ago,  the US version two weeks ago and I'm considering additional US accounts.

  • XasapisXasapis Member RarePosts: 6,337

I read what you wrote and didn't find anything that would warrant the comment "con". All in all, I found them pretty reasonable.

Would you by chance be interested in a bridge I happen to have for sale?

  • LeetheLeethe Member UncommonPosts: 893

Just out of curiosity, did the OP get a beta key? As TR was closing NCWest all of the players who had active accounts for a year or so a free pass to all the preview events. During in-game chat with the DEVs and NCstaff at the time used the word beta and preview were used pretty much interchangeably.

While the game has already been out in other regions, we've all been asked to keep an eye out for mistranslations, item errors and things of that nature. If found they will be put on a schedule to be fixed so in a sense they are still working the bugs out hence 'beta'. I really don't see a lie or a con.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Op is probably pissed that now people will be able to form their own opinions about this game instead of reading from the trolls in this forum. Otherwise I see not even one reason to complain about an Open beta.

  • DiSpLiFFDiSpLiFF Member UncommonPosts: 602

i don't see how them making an open beta gets you so crazy, seriously it should of been expected even if someone said there wouldn't be. Theres always an open beta, which is good for the game also, we can see how well it plays when theres loads of people playing at once.

This has been stated before but you seem to be ignoring it. Things do change and not being able to say anything definite does not mean deception. It just means that things are "subject to change." For it to be a con, there has to be proof that they were fully aware of the plans for an Open Beta but stated otherwise...proof that you have yet to provide. Given as you are not an NCSoft Developer, there is only your invalid insistence that the proof even exists. If I say that I am contemplating a picnic tomorrow afternoon in the park, that day comes and there is a freak hailstorm which leads me to say we'll have an indoor barbeque, did I lie about the picnic?

But seriously, planning months in advance to con people into putting down five fully-refundable dollars on the preorder? Months in advance....five dollars...refundable....yeah, right.

Like in Lineage2 when they pretend to be against RMT while owning a company that sells Adena. I will give you a little insider info. You know how much a publisher (Like NCsoft) makes off of pre-order boxes? ZERO. Those boxes and codes are given to RETAILERS (like GameStop and BestBuy) for FREE.  For the publisher, those preorder boxes are marketing and are considered a cost center meaning they lose money.  For the retailer the pre-order boxes are used as a guage to see how many real RETAIL boxes they are going to buy from the Publisher.

I don't think there was any deception in there. I think it was just your confusion. If you don't want to preorder... don't  wait for your open beta weekend.

  • ray12kray12k Member UncommonPosts: 487

well they are asking 4 50 bucks for a game that is very close to lineage2.(which u can get for free and only have to pay a sub) So if they do not offer a open beta i doubt allot of people would buy to try....

  • kelarcanuskelarcanus Member UncommonPosts: 63

threads like this one make me wonder why I even bother to read MMO forums.

Shit happens. Things change. Stop accusing companies of blantently lying to people when they aren't.

If I remember correctly Lineage II charged $50 buck for the game when it launched 5+ years ago.  I you wait 5 years, I am sure you can get Aion for free and only pay the sub. :)

I have played Aion and L2. They are not "close."  They are about as close as Korea is to Florida. Just saying.
