A large amount of Chinese WoW players did transfer to the Taiwan servers where WotLK is available. The rest are waiting for WotLK on the Chinese servers. I would imagine more than a few that are waiting are playing Aion to pass the time. Makes me wonder if NCSoft will announce subscription numbers for Aion Asia when WotLK is officially released in China. But why does this really matter? WoW is doing fine in Asia and Aion is doing pretty good as well. Why not just leave it at that?
i myself moved to wow taiwan cuz of delay in wotlk .and im having a pretty good time out there . they have 9 categories .each category containning 15 servers . so thats like 135 servers ,even more than us .
There are 240 US (North American) servers right now, but 135 is a lot of servers on its own.
I really hope WoW dies in China so that all those people who weren't subbed will come to Aion. I'm sure lots of them are going to come to Aion, because Aion is probably the 2nd most popular MMORPG in Asia right now.
Apparently the whole undead/demonic theme is taboo/illegal. Read more here: forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html WotLK has yet to be released in china because of these issues.
Haha, well im sure if that was the case most Chinese wouldnt play it due to it being taboo. But in the Story of warcraft the undead are vital part in it so there just ganna have to deal with it... But Going back on the topic of WoW Vs Aion in asia. From a comment stated above about how it looks anime. Heres the thing alot of people dont realize or just dont know about. In MMO's you need to keep it Low Poly meaning some what blocky its runs better on systems and doesnt cause much lag on servers you cannont run a game and expect it to have 5k players on a server with Oblivion Or crysis Graphics just doesnt work that way not to metion more funding needed. So most mmo rely not only on modeling But mainly in the detail work of Textures the better drawn textures the more real it looks and depending on the game engine the better the textures look...
Okay so WoW runs good since every things is a low poly you wont see a weel with more then 7 sides to it but the textures are set up to make it look full. My point is WoW is amazing but its also starting to become out dated so now we need the next generation MMO. Aion is the next gen mmo and even though its done by NCsoft its still amazing the low poly of it so it will run on almost everyones computer and still be able to look better then WoW just means there using a new system and what seems like a better engine...
When building a car and start to put the nuts and bolts and metal together then you get to the wireing and car mechanics but in order for it to run you need an engine its the same with the game and the better the engine is the better the car runs same applies. Now wraping this up since im writing more then intended. Im a WoW fan also i love the story line and characters However, And most players will agree its starting to become repetitve its the same thing over and over again getting gear and moving to the dungoen dealing with little kids who cant even hit 2.k on a hunter or a mage decked out in 80 blues... after awile it becomes boring and the game it self is getting worse not better. Now dont get me wrong i love northrend and i was expecting it to due better then it did and i love the storylines there putting in there. but it just doesnt due much playing for 4 years now im looking for that next great game and in all hopes this could be it. But theres always the fact it can end up like tabula rasa ( I know i spelt that wrong) but in anycase you get my point. So weiher this game does good or no good were just going to have to see with these beta tryouts and or Nov. when the game is released...
Ps... This is being said for all three countries and not just asia as the topic is for =( but im still ganna post so i dont let all this writing go to waste...
Pss. This is also all my own oppion based on facts and some truth and knowlege in video game development... Everyone has there own oppion about somthing and i respect both WoW players and no WoW players.
yeah i just wanna say a couple of things
Low poly - to a certain degree, go play LOTRO n tell me what you think, runs alot less laggy then alot of "low poly" games out there and the graphics are amazing, granted you need at least a half decent PC to run it n not to mention most those games with amazing graphics seeing as you basically named 2 first person games... have online functionality and are played online also
did you bother todo any research - you mentioned crysis in your post, but neglect the fact that Aion is developed off the cryengine, same engine running.... Crysis
Aion is just another MMO... you have limited fly time at eary levels that increases as you go along
you can glide, basically you have wings instead of mounts
you do quests you level
you buy skills and find out professions are a massive money sink
you can PvP and it's fun, but besides flying combat, there is nothing spectacular PvP wise that hasnt been done in a previous mmo
you can PvE and do raids, but they're not instanced... so you could have another raid group camp you through the raid n gank your party as you get to the raid boss which may not spawn again for a day 2 days.. who knows, call me crazy but if you do all the work it be nice to see some reward other then getting ganked and missing a raid boss
graphics are very nice for what it is, but again, there are already mmos out with amazing graphics
at the end of the day it's another mmo, you level you pvp you pve, nothing really groundbreaking nothing really new.
i hope for NCsoft it does well... but all this wowkiller this, wowkiller that is becoming boring... why does every new game have to kill wow, why cant it just strive to be as successful, cuz honestly, who loses out in the end we do, the consumer.

exactly thats why i aint buying aion.they are wasting all their energies in trying to somehow let down wow and like they will be able to steal number one place.look at cryptic ceo he says that they are in no way competing with wow .but they want to be sucessful in terms of subscribers for their game.they are not looking to hit like say 12 million mark.he says even when he was in wow making development team they were not saying they will rock the whole earth but were optimistic that it will be good. it was not before 2 years that blizzard started to enjoy the success.so be realistic play nc and your dangling consumers.

lol you are admiting yourself that wow is number in china even when wotlk is not released there . so sweet dreams to you lol.many chinese are leaving aion cuz of bots .in korea they have tried to patch up things. but the hackers and farmers are too quick to make another one.when their is money in one thing .the hackers will even give their life for it.and im afraid same will be the case with aion us or eu.go on the net and google .many people in eu and america have started to make these bots. and after when it is released the chinese and korean farmers will come on eu and us servers.the reason is most of the script of aion has been released on net.and its easy to make bots. iam sorry to say these things to fanboys of aion but its reality . if you can cope up with it like some people did cope up in lineage 2 with bots.then good lucvk and happy adventuring .im just not in the mood of wasting 70 bucks on aion europe.
