Final Fantasy 11 or UO?

ZephrithZephrith Member Posts: 122

Well, I don't want to waste my money on a crappy game (who does?), so which one is better at the moment?

This is, I think my second MMORPG, and the first one sucked. Yep, you guessed it, Runescape, and I don't want to go back, because its going to bore me to death. Thanks

    I would say uo i dont play the real thing though i play on a free shard but i tried FFXI and i didnt like it as much as its hoped to be . My opinion hough FFXI is a great game but its expensive to buy

    being that I did not hear more of what your looking for in a game,  nor knowing what type of player you are. If your a scammer and cheat and look to exploit game mechanics you can do well in UO, if you do not well your behind the 8-ball and will be until you realize what the exploits and scams are and spend enough time or money buying your items to get your armour suit set up.

    I quit FFXI because I did not spend enough time learning it when I already knew UO, so now I just ponder quitting UO because I have not adapted to the way the game is today and the way the UO devs want it to be today, instead of working with their customers they feel they know what is better for the game. Scammers and UO Devs one in the same or just have the same vision of UO? I'll ask the UO devs this weekend when I see them at GenCon So Cal.

    I to would recomend UO i have tried FFXI and it sucked big time... After level 8 in FFXI it went from easy soloing to you-must-group-to-even-have-a-chance.

    It depends if you want to play a game thats not to old or one thats been around for years, regardless of what you decide to choose.  UO is a dinosaur now and pretty much a money spinner for EA who still make a bit of petty cash out of the last few people who just cant break the habbit and get out of a rutt.

    UO was good 3 or 4 years ago but now its just making money for old rope.  The only reasons to play it are

    1) If your system isnt up to the mmorgs that are currently the top of the list like eq2 and wow

    2) You have a ton of friends who can make up a nice guild, the community is the strongest thing left.

    3) You dont mind playing a dated game, where EA just bring out pointless expansion packs just to get another $30 out of you

    4) A game company that brings out such things like name changing for a mere $30 or advanced characters for people to lazy to raise there skills for a mere $30

    5) A game company that decide to shelf a spin off from uo (UXO and UO2) just because they feel they wont be able to keep up with the standards of eq2 or wow, and definately care about themselves rather then what the players want

    6) A game company that bring out more failed expansion packs then any other online game (both UO 3D and AOS) for example were making players leave by the dozens.

    7) A game company that never give you a human response to a tech or other problem and just give you the crappy automated reply that is about as related to your problem as much as an orangatang is releated to a polar bear.

    Finally there are around 23 other games listed to the left and anyone of them is better then uo, but if you dont want to play any of the other games then your better off playing tetris or space invaders as they have better graphics and playability etc...

    KatyenkaXav your totaly off on point 5. EA canned ultima x odyssey and ultima worlds online origin long BEFORE EQ2 and WoW was launched so get your facts straight.

    Your partly right and partly wrong my UO loving friend

    UO2 was scrapped before eq2 and wow were even thought of but im afriad to say that UXO was definately in the making the same time that WOW and EQ2 were being created, there are trailers for wow that date back 34 years with estimated release dates on them.  EQ2 and UXO were to be released at around the same time(ish).

    Either way it doesnt really matter, UO was never really a bad game even now by some standards its EA that should really be bought out and all their employees sacked.  Origin got so much blame for failed expansion packs and poor updatesug fixes but EA were always the people pulling the strings.  Getting rid of Origin hasnt done anything for the state of UO except save EA a few extra coins.

    If a decent company like Sony or Blizzard took them over maybe something might become of the once mighty game.  I think Richard Garriott had the right idea, i mean he left the sinking ship before he drowned.  I mean you cant trust a company that craps on the guy who made UO, over ruling his ideas and plans for UO.  Lets face it thats the reason why UO2 was canned because it was Richards plans and at least he managed to stop the rest of EA from making money out of his ideas.

    EA make nice sports games but they are a has been company.

    Ultima 9 had UO2 ads ::::02::
    UO2 was scrapped because EA would rather release an expansion and Garriott left around this time(I think he's working for NCSoft now).
    UxO was cancelled on June 30, 2004;

    We feel that Ultima Online is where we need to focus our online efforts and most of my team will be moving to the UO expansion pack, the UO live team, and an unannounced Ultima Online project.
    ..bunch of damn liars, they just found out that they won't double their money on UxO so they canned it :p

    It is rumored that the next unannounced UO project will be an Ireland themed expansion wherein they add new models for the kilts.

    I still have the PC Gamer demo disc that had the official trailer for UO2 on it (also the stuff that came with Ascension).  Now, I'm not saying that I am a violent person but if I lived near the EA hub would I contemplate slashing a few tires?  Metaphorically speaking...yes.

    The future of UO2 was probably sealed when EA forced Garriot to rush Ultima 9, since that game held a lot of similarities to the UO2 engine.  Especially concerning physics and graphics.

    Well ive already been caught out on two of EAs projects that they decide to scrap, i mean once bitten twice shy, and here its more like twice bitten third time you would have to be insane.

    Another wards EA could annouce they are bringing out the game of the century online and i wouldnt care a damn about it because they would probably leave it a year into production and wait until everyone is all excited about it then shelf the game and gloat over it.  I mean when they closed UXO they left some very nice pictures that you could scroll through on the same page.  Talk about rubbing our noses in it.  I wouldnt play another EA online game if they payed me now :)

    EA are full of false hopes and promises, as a business owner myself i am quite within my rights to say that EA havent got a clue when it comes to customer service.
