ZOMG WTF Having Withdrawls./moved

loldfieldloldfield Member Posts: 6

Well needless to say I don't play WoW anymore, or City of Heroes, Lineage II, Guild Wars; Conan didn't do it for me and I'm beginning to loss (wtf i can't spell lol). Either me or my husband (Who play together) have agreed on a game. We don't care about paying for our subscription but we would do anything to play a fun exciting and challanging game that keeps out interests.

It may of course be that we are just MMO burned out but were not willing to give up. I'd love some suggestions on some games some people like and have been playing. (Because my computer is getting full with all the free trials teehee)

Thanks a bunch!

There isn't anything worthy. You should probably find a new hobby for a few years. I hear knitting is rewarding...

Why did you stop playing? I think Vangaurd is pretty cool, but not if you like PVP. Though there are alot of people that do not like SOE. EQ2 is alot like WoW but it makes you think a bit more, well at least for me :-/

Your not alone, I just canceled my subscription to EQ2. Theres just alot of garbage out there that gets recycled over and over. I'm actually going back to my roots and playing some classic console games, I'm going to pick up a PS3 and get the new Street Fighter, other then that I can see myself doing this for the next few years. Maybe around 2011 or so, Mmo's will have taken the nextstep forward.

    Waiting on Guild Wars 2

join the club:(  i just canceled my WAR sub been there since launch. the last  2 months i think i've logged in just outta habit cuz it stopped being fun long back. i tried AoC again for the 1st time since sept. and i just can't make myself play it...i tried. i spent 3yrs in wow and since i've left i've bounced around to all the different mmos but nothing has really grabbed me.

i'm probably gonna sit outta mmos till champions online comes out which i think is in 2 months and just hope that game lasts or atleast carries me to Aion.

I can really only suggest Vanguard.

Yes, there are some minor bugs and graphical glitches etc. If you can get past that, the game is very deep. There's 3 "spheres" to max out, all of which I find to be very rewarding. Plus, the average time it takes to reach level cap is 3 times as long as WoW, which I find to be a good thing (gives it a more hardcore feeling ;) ), which is a good thing due to the quality of the gameplay. Also, leveling as a duo in the game would be amazing.

BUT, this is only if you can get past the bugs. Some people evidently don't experience them at all. There's been times when I've logged out and nerdraged due to bugs. There's a free trial though. Give it a shot. If you don't like that, I'd say try EvE. If that doesn't do it for you, it's time for a new hobby.

Best of luck in your quest for the perfect game.

Only 2 suggestions here, both free, and both anime-style if that isn't objectionable.

Ether Saga Online:  Best looking f2p out there, good gameplay, damn good pet system, bad crafting, a grinder around 40-50, but you can't have everything.

Asda story: Graphics aren't great, crafting could use some work, and the gameplay is a bit lacking, but it has one of best communities I have encountered.

Wow I really was hoping that I was just being finicky and not everyone was in the same boat. But it really does look like there's a bit of a dead zone especially with WoW having wiped out any and all competition and then getting so effing boring (Well not really boring but in my opinion it got to be a job...I got home from work and sat down and did the WoW job)

Thanks for the suggestions I will look into Vanguard, and I'm still not wanting to do EQ2 I just can't find a tip one way or the other. Half the people like it half the people don't kinda like WoW.

Thanks again for everything I actually don't feel so bad now that I know I'm not just being picky and there's others that feel the same way as I do. :)

I think you should try EVE.  Every other game is either a rough copy of WoW, or innovative but dead.  EVE succeeded because it's distinct enough from WoW to carve its own niche, but also very well conceived.  If you don't enjoy EVE, then you should pass on MMOs until something else comes along.

Some warnings about EVE, though:  It's harsh, open-ended, and it doesn't even pretend to give you an idea of what you're getting into when you start (though it has a very nice tutorial on how to play).  But you should go into the game with one goal: build ISK (the in-game currency).  If you use that as an incentive for your actions, some very interesting paths will open up for you.  The game is a very good experiment in anarcho capitalism, and you need to treat it as such by being self-serving.  Corporations and alliances are more than a community of players - they're a necessary means to an end.

It has a very solid free trial, so you should check it out.
