"One of the other things about MMOs is that they're very big. Huge. Our game is huge. It's the equivalent in story content and square footage of every other BioWare game that has ever been produced and released combined. Just think of all those games, put them all together, and we have more content than that. That's a lot of content."

Ok i need to gets some opinons does this sound like a good thing? Do you believe that, Bioware can put some much story content into the game and still put a succesful amount of the mmorpg side of things like crafting, pvp, community etc?

I think what we're gonna from bioware is an amazing RPG tempered toward the solo audience, that includes features like Raids, PVP ect. In the, past games like WoW have created expirences that almost completely eliminate group based progression, and aren' t fun or immersive enough to hold a solo players attention. I think that the expirence that Bioware is bringing to the table is gonna be something far better then we've seen from other mmo's in the past.
Blizzard uses WOW to harvest hours played into bottles so that the dev team can remain immortal
Yeah they designed the game for great scalability and the game engine (Hero) has all the necessary tools for them to shorten the concept to build span and get it in the hands of play testers for input. All this can be done in real time collaboration thru the actual game engine itself.
IMO: This game will be the purist theme park ever made, with a few weak MMORPG elements peppered in so that it can be included in this genre and on sites like this. It will play more like a single player RPG with coop mode. The game may be fun to play for a while, but there will be nothing to keep people around beyond this "story content" they are beating us to death with in their interviews.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
That's what I'm fearing . Lets hope your wrong MindTrigger, and in the next coming months they show us tons of mmo oriented features . You never know
I'm looking forward to it, the worlds look beautiful, having a companion and being the second voice in your decisions is great, especially when all of your friends are neither on or busy.
I have yet to see anything space related or what goes on in your ship while traveling, looking forward to it.
I'm not looking for it to be a WoW killer or anything else, I just want to see it succeed, and I hope it does.
I can see how people cry too much Story is being hyped in interviews, but I can also see there is other bits of information in them and knowing how hard it is to hold back that kind of stuff, but you just can't release anything before it's finalized and working, Two other games that released already showed that you can't.
Just wait for them to release information, you don't want them saying something they cannot live up to at release.
I wonder if we add up all the landmass from all of Bioware's games... how big will it be? Hu mmmm... who wants to take that project?

That's pretty much what I'm thinking. My impression so far (and this is just my speculation) is that it will probably be a lot like Guild Wars. Guild Wars is a story based game that has been around for years. It's not a bad game and I enjoyed it for a while but it was very confining. You follow the story through the PvE part of the game all the way through. Sure you could go out and just mess around but it was pretty pointless and sooner or later you had to get back to following the story.
The thing about me is that I guess I'm one of those people who doesn't really care much about some pre-prepared story. To me it's all just, "Bla bla bla go there. Bla bla bla kill that." I went through all of Prophocies and most of Nightfall and if you asked me about the story I couldn't tell you much. There were some things called Char who devastated some kingdom...and then I fought a bunch of them...and then something, something, something...and then a thing about some corrupt priests or something like that I think....something something....and then there were some lizard people...I ascended...there was a dragon...uh, something, something...and somewhere in there I went to the Nightfall part and got some heroes...then later I started playing the Nightfall content and all I really remember about that is lots of corsairs and insects.
And yeah, it did feel more like a single player game with co-op mode than anything else. But I didn't have to pay a subscription fee so I didn't mind so much. I could play a little and if I got tired of it I could let it sit there for months and months and then one day log back in to play some more without having to pay any more money.
Anyway, I expect SWTOR to be a lot like that. A very linear and confining and heavily instanced game that has you follow a prescribed pathway through the story content. When you finish that there will be PvP e-sport arena matches and some kind of repeatable PvE instances to keep you busy untill the next installment of story content is ready. And I would probably be perfectly willing to buy it if it is exactly like that except I don't think I would be willing to pay a subscription fee for that. So I'm just sort of waiting to see if there will be more to it and what exactly their financial model will be like.
exactly
I think Bioware, like Blizzard, is making an mmorpg. But unlike Blizzard, Bioware will be focusing on the RPG part rather than the MMO part.
Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.
Which means it will be better than Blizzard. Bioware is known for their fantastic storylines.
