I'd probably go 25 bucks US, but it would have to be perfect. ;)

i hate paying for games so only say 15 dollars for the perfect one

  • nash8114nash8114 Member Posts: 118

Ehm, well you can't really use the word perfect here, as no game is ever perfect, not even for just one person. If it would be you could play it for life. But, lets say an extremely, utterly mindblowing game comes out now ( *cough* WoW *cough*.)

Well, I'd pay no more than what I'd have to pay for any other game on the market ..
Sure, they can be good. But if you can get a 'nearly as good' game for a lower price... its not worth the dough then.
I'd say the $15 for WoW in example is a good price. Compared to the market (average monthly price of new MMORPGs) its just right. If they'd have 10x the content of other games, perhaps I'd pay them a dollar extra.. but, I wouldn't give them any more than that. There's free games I can play too..

Just my rant ::::03:: (no more wiskey for me.)

    Cheers,
    Nash

For a perfect game, ie not a boring moment always something new around the corner and no idiots etc. In other words an impossible game I would be willing to pay up towards 50 $ per month. But then this is all hypotethical.

*edit*And btw nothing on the market is even close to perfect.

Hm...For me? I'd have to say $50 for the box (and game in general) and $10 a month, unless it was free or lower. In which case I'd so buy it with out heistation.

If it was the perfect MMORPG... (It would have to be the HL2 of MMORPGs) I would pay up to $20 a month.

If the price I am willing to pay increases as a function of the increasing perfection of the game, then the perfect game would have a price of infinite.

the perfect MMORPG is real life....and its free. Its just a shame so many carebears complain about the perma-death, status effects and 8 hour downtime (though some play mini-games during this period and experience temporarily reduced stats). Others also complain that its just a boring working sim, and that it should be sharded to protect them from the PK'ers.

    ---sig---

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...

its free to play, but in game credits must be earnt. I do not believe there can ever be a 'perfect' MMORPG, as you would have to have total player immersion (kinda like the first Barclay episode of ST:TNG) and with it the requisite problems of having to deal with real life afterwards. There's also the fact that a true perfect MMORPG wont always be fun...a perfect MMOG would be...

A perfect game would mean I would not even consider to try new games released.

The way to ''perfect'' is hardly 10% achieve in the best game I ever play, and it is regressing instead of progressing toward been perfect.

I mean, it would have to leave me iron with a new like:

''SSI come back with new graphics engines and all, releasing a new version of Champions of Krynn completely game based turn(have a few ideas there hehe, to hard to explain), they are polishing Death Knight of Krynn as we speak''

I mean, come on, which of those companies could achieve such a feat so I would not even consider buying such a product to see what it look like.

Let say a MMORPG that would be a perfect hybrid between CoH and EQ2(still wont be perfect, CoH is moving away from perfection with every new Issue they release), where the individual is the center of interest of the game, you can solo all the way up and be the best soloer on the server even if you never group, medieval fantasy of course...hmmm...They should stick with the $15 a month, I would buy multiples accounts even if I would not play on the others few at all...would bring more players...but that is weird me.  If I have a ''pirated copy'' of a game I was liking, I would buy it and I just throw the others I didnt like away...I know I know, pirating is completely illegal and dimwit me use it more to try then to replace...when I like a game, I want the game manual and to encourage the company, get a shiny poster(There are still 2 posters from SSI hanging on my walls) and all.  LOL

I am sorry but I must disagree with you.  It is not perfect by a long shot.  Don't get me wrong, I think the developers did a decent job, but not perfect - and please, I DO enjoy the game, but it ain't perfect.  First (and very important to me) is the issue of only one character per server - this is bad game development.  Second, as far as I can tell from all the documentation (and I HAVE visited all the player run web sites for info) there is ONLY one server!  What kind of MMORPG is this - the developer cannot afford more than one server - that IS slack.  And forget customer support - I thought Verant/Sony gave bad customer support with EQ, but the developer of Real Life just plopped the game out there and as far as I can tell didn't even give us a manual at all!  I could go on, but I hope you get the idea - FAR from perfect in my book.  Have YOU ever tried contacting customer support for any issue?  I have - many times - and I have NEVER gotten a response at all!!  Even Sony eventually gets back to you.

20 bucks a month, at max.

  • JoeyNippsJoeyNipps Member Posts: 186
The only true answer to this question is nobody can have any real idea.  For example, how much would you pay for a Coke or a pound of hamburger or an automobile?  The answer is virtually anything that is demanded by current economic trends.  If YOU want a Coke, you will pay virtually anything - prices change over the years and our acceptance of these new "costs" is virtually guaranteed.  We want, somebody supplies, we buy - period.

The PERFECT game would pay ME to play, somewhere in the vicinity of 30US/hour (at the vary least) and of course the player population would be limited to maybe 50k with the rest of the populace paying mandatory taxes towards development/support of the game.

But seriously, if the game was so good I would truely consider it perfect in all ways I would pay $100US/month easily... Or maybe I would shun it in fear of being sucked into a game for the rest of my life.

well, there are manuals, but each is localised (and they are based on obsolete code, with out-of-date examples). Some players roleplay as per the manuals, others choose to PK, grief, scam and steal. The single server issue should be fixed soon(tm) (40 years so far...even slower than CCP) with the expansion packs 'Moon' and 'Mars' (though a silly name like 'exodus' might be chosen...).

Well I think your code is broken, One server is great... I can alllways contact a friend if i have enough currency to use the "Shout" though. The Designer was planning on having multiple servers then he was like Nahhh I'll just spend allll my time developing ONE great server that is totally self dependant.

Customer service is great I have no clue what you were talking about. I think something is wrong with your Client Software. Usually well for me Support comes in the form of character ideas and thoughts. Maybe you should try reinstalling the conscience.dll and morals.dll. Although sometimes they take awhile to process they are allways there. Sometimes when the conscienceFunct(freeWill, hisWill) function is used to often, priority is diminished and it becomes a deamon thread, which is then shortly replaced by the conciet.dll.

Well I dont know about you but I have my manual. I think you should have gotten the Platinum edition. Graphics aren't that great on my system, but thats cuz i screwed up my display drivers when i left my avatar infront of a CRT for too long.. NOW HOW REAL IS THAT. This game is GREAT. Some of the stronger players are REALLLY stupid though I have no clue how they got to the level that they are. I think its part of the referral package. Where if you refer a friend then they get the same experience as you. Not fair, But i guess thats how the game has to work.

Real Life - Its not what you think

It would have to be amazing, I would pay $20. The thing is my wife joins me in these mmorpg's so it would end up being $40 a month, so i dont think i would go higher than that at this point in time.

  • JohnarkJohnark Member Posts: 901

14.99$ to 19.99$ like any MMORPG.  Why pay more just cause it's perfect?  It's costing them the same amount of bandwidth unless they somehow created a brand new game engine that's very heavy in bandwidth because of all the content.

And besides, as time passes by, the economy changes, so the games end up costing more, monthly fee rises, etc.

It's all about competition.  If one day EQ2 decided to raise their monthly fee price, you'll see WoW do the same.  And if WoW decides to not raise the price, EQ2 will lose money and they will start lowering their price to attract more customers.  That's economy for you.

I don't know what YOU are talking about, but I have had no problems with customer support, and yes, there is a manual. Several actually, and for the most part they all have a common theme. "Be good to each other and be wise about your decisions." Of course fewer people believe there was even a developer at all these days and that is just some random string of code. Of course those of us who do believe in a developer seem to have trouble agreeing on who the developer was and is.

And about it being perfect, if it was perfect in the way YOU see it, it wouldn't for another. You have to take a step back and see the bigger picture. There are literally billions of PCs in this game, the developer had this in mind when the game was created. It is perfect because it's the only one to date with such a large player base! When you think selfishly about it, everyone thinks they got the short end of the stick, even the privelged ones. If that's the way you must think, just realize there is always somebody else lower on the totem pole.

Oh, and who said there was only one server? Maybe you just have to unlock it? Maybe this is just the newbie server.

  • TimjapowerTimjapower Member Posts: 35

And to answer the poster's question, I would probably pay about $20.00/month. I think it's possible if the player base realizes it's a GAME and not a place to run from life.

I understand where everyone who disagrees is coming from though. If you advertised it as a perfect game, there would be hype that would inevitably leave dissatisfied customers.

And the perfect game would be different for everyone.

mine would require roleplay, and would be a fantasy world where there would be a place on every planet where you could go to space if Sci-fi was your thing. It would also be a farming sim, a MMOFPS in certain "battlezones" and would have NPC party members. There would be endless amounts of unlockable planets and races and equipment. I realize this makes things far too complex, but if they could invent a quantum computer and have some seriously genius devs and such working on it for about ten years, I'm sure they could do that...

You know, I wouldn't be a stickler for graphics on one like that either... I could survive off of EQ style (not EQ2) graphics on a game that intense. And I think I might even want permadeath.

  • JAttractiveJAttractive Member Posts: 149
I'd pay $100 for the box and $30 a month for the game. A dollar a day seems more than fair to me and I have no qualms paying that. If it keeps me in even one weekend night I would easily save that $30 back anyway.
