Upcoming Mount Changes - A very big announcement came last week from Blizzard. With the release of patch 3.2 regular land mounts will be available to players beginning at level 20 this is down from a level requirement of 30. Epic land mounts and basic flying mounts will also be available beginning at levels 40 and 60 respectively. This means players entering Outlands will be able to fly almost immediately...very handy!

This change is great but I wish they would spend some of that 100+ million a month to add more new and interesting lower level content. My 2 cp.
More nerfing, just what the game needs. Whats next? A mount and 500 gold at character creation?
Anyone knows if price for mounts / riding skills will also be scaled down? I`m not prepared to spend 5k gold for a riding skill that could go down to 3k in the next patch...
Better to be crazy, provided you know what sane is...
Obvious you are just a troll. The reason for this have been discussed repeatedly and the community, as a whole, accepts the change. The change is due to the game changing and having to reposition the mounts from level 70 downwards. If you haven't read and understood why the change, then that is your fault but please, stop the ignorant trolling in the WOW forums on something that has been discussed and debated already.
Next I guess you will oblige us with the required troll WOW comparisons such as WOW is McD's, Brittney Spears, etc....
It has nothing to do with repositioning the mounts from level 70 down. That makes no sense. Its to attract new subs. What level do you have to be to do the quests in Outland that require flying. Can you do them at 60? I think not. So what's the benefit to your toon to obtain a flying mount at 60, while everyone else pre-WOTLK had to wait until 70? Its a newb pull, not game mechanics. Lets get some facts straight and use a bit of logic before calling someone a troll.
Just when you think they have made it way too easy to do or get anything in this game, they go and surprise you yet again. Downloding the next patch will automatically ship you a bib and pacifier via FedEx Priority Overnight...because they know you can't wait 3 days for it.

I agree....the changes seem very welcome by most. I really like the new Druid...cat and bear form cosmetics that you will be able to use at any barber shop. Awesome. However...like zethcarn...they really need a huge patch (or several even)..to add lower level content or change the lower level missions...even down to tweaking and making small changes to the mobs. Even changing the names as if a new group of mobs or tribe have taken over.
Nice change for my army of alts allthough, as a previous poster pointed out, I wish they rather spend their time revisiting the old content and/or making more content for 1-60, a little more stuff to do and maybe revisit the old raids and tune them for the 80's. Atleast that's my wishlist...

Grammar nazi's. This one is for you.
LOL that was funny, I'm serious. It seems like they just keep making things easier and less time consuming to get. Heh did'nt you used to get mounts @ 40 at launch?
I think the mounts do make it easy...but this really only hurts newer subscribers. Let's face it...with the millions currently playing...and most probably for years...this is probably a small portion. The only real benefit for long time players is to speed up alt leveling and farming...because most of us know many ,if not all, of the missions by heart. The discovery aspect is done. That's really why it would be great to revamp or add quests for 1-60...hell...even mix up the BC stuff. Keep it fresh ...so even leveling alts can be as fun as your first toon. Just a lot of little things plus a few big changes. This game has been around for years....this could keep old timers playing long after they blow through WOTLK content a million times. But , I guess, they're still playing anyway..and so am I.....so this birthday candle will likely stay lit.
So then why is it a bad thing? If you think it makes the game for babies and people who are impatient, give me one good, logical reason why its a bad change? How does it make the game too easy? All it does is allow you to go from point A to point B faster. This is on par with other games right now. Remember WOW zones can be quit huge early on (Barrens, Ashenvale, Silverpine, etc...) and all the change does is lower travel time.
It amzes me how many people think that long travel times = hardcore or a harder game. I personally think long travel times are boring anf I rather be playing the game and doing something and not running from point a to point b for 15 minutes.
I didn't say anything about long travel times = hardcore. The issue here is lack of a feeling of achievement. If everything is just thrown at you at very early levels, than all that does it take away from you feeling like you accomplished something. Mounts used to be 40, if you remember....soon they will give you one upon character creation. One more goal gone.
The more they simply give to you with no effort on your part, the less you are going to give a shit about it.

Keeping the mounts at level 40 at this point would only have hurt the new players just coming into WoW.
Entering a years old MMO is always a lonely experience because most of the populace has moved on to the new high level content and the low level content is left barren. Combine this feeling of emptiness with having to walk everywhere and what you have is an MMO that has lost touch with the changing times, lost any chance of growth and lost a potential subscriber.
You dont tell your new customers "screw you, unless you suffer like everyone else did 4 years ago you dont deserve a mount".
This is why WoW keeps growing where others have either stagnated or shrunk.
Also, what would be the point of new low level content? You can get to Northrend in like 3 weeks. Spending time and money developing new low level content would be useless because people would either level right past it without knowing or do it in an hour and forget about it.
Good point...on one side I think the lowered level for mounts..is bad for new players...because they can rush through...and not experience the newness...and have that goal of buying the first mount at 40(then 30) ...it was a rite-of-passage...you felt less the "noob" and the adventure (when you read the quests) was...dare I say, FUN. .....and your side indicates that it is needed and benefits the new player ...for the same reasons of speed and catching up to a larger...higher level player base and endgame...the only content that receives updates and additions. I can see both points as making sense...I guess because it is basically the Through -Game Vs. End-Game argument.....
A flying mount at 60 is going to make exploration of Outland way too easy. Also is it safe to assume they continue to make former elites "non elite"? Gets easier and easier it seems.
It may seem funny or odd....but when they lower the elites at various times...I go back and get brutal REVENGE on those that pummeled my arse to granules...usually when I was merely unobservant or just passing through. HE WHO LOLs LAST...LOLs BEST!!!!
......I know...it's sad.
It doesn't matter if Outland is too easy or not. Right now, on an alt, I can barely finish Hellfire, Zangermarsh and part of Terrorkar before I am 68 and on to Northrend.
People tend to forget that the game isn't about the leveling experience or the process of getting to Northrend, it is about Northrend now.
Low level players are usually 90% friends of a friend who plays who will help them out or an alt. WOW is an old game by MMo standards and totally new players are few and far between now. Most people want to get up to Northrend now because that is where most of the players are and the action is. It doesn't matter if it speeds up leveling because leveling is now a means to an end, and no long an end in itself.
Hmm. I thought the Deathknights were included for the folks that wanted to rush an alt to the endgame. The truth is they want the new players to level as quickly as possible to sell more xpacs. I no longer play the game so its a mute point for me but any honest people have to admit its not the game that it once was and the changes are not for the better.

There is a reason wow keeps growing while other games struggle to attract new people and are generally considered past their prime after only a few short years. The truth is that blizzard is a well run company that listens to its players and acts on their suggestions.
This is a small change that makes joining the game a bit less tedious. New players don't have the same access to resources that other players did back before burning crusade. There are far fewer people to group with in the low levels, because the game is very top heavy. The auction hall is a shell of what it was back in the day and often has very little of use to a new player. Things like that which older players never had to deal with.
I agree that flying mounts can trivialize content, but anything that allows players to bypass content has that possibility.
Lastly not everyone wants to play a death knight.

I understand that the game has become all about NorthrENDGAME. I still think it's sad though because WOW offers a vast beautiful full virtual world ..whcih is now intended to be rushed through by newbies and alt-grinders alike. It kind of sucks...one of the reasons it would be great but wishful thinking..that they add earlier content or change up the current early areas. I mean..WOW (still $30-$40 most places)...BC(same $)...and WOTLK (what?...still like $40.00). So ...for the price of $120.00 plus tax..your expected...almost encouraged(dare I say..corralled) to Flash through a minimum of $80.00 worth of game..just to enjoys the last $40.00. All the while paying $15.00 a month for the privilege. I do play WOW and like the game...but it really doesn't seem to be catered more and more to casual players....it seems they are fast forwarding through 66% of the game so that Hardcore End-Game enthusiasts can enjoy it. It won't affect my playing style much...just making an observation.
As someone who love to reroll, this is truly good news to me.
Another secret sucess of WoW is that i can level up all the way to 60 just by staying in 1 continent (eg Kalimdor) without going over to the other side. Except of course to hand in some quests, like the chicken escort quest.
So if i wana explore the rest of the area early, an epic mount at level 40 really do wonders for me....

Well said.
It does sound like this is a decision for 'new players' and 'returning players' -- to make the game more attractive.
The success of WoW is simply, they make a fun game -- something other games seem to miss consistantly.
It makes perfect sense to me, it's law of the frontier. When WoW came out, Azeroth was the frontier and everything was hard and took time. Public transportation was a mess, lands were not safe, even the main roads in some places would get you killed if you didn't pay attention. Raids were hard and long, required alot of people. Money was sparse and took grind upon grind to get somewhere and frontierers loved it, cuz they love such things.
Trouble with the frontier is that it can't stay what it is forever, eventualy "normal" folk arrives and they want more security and convenience. What you see as a result is better law enforcement, less risk in the wild, better public transportation and other things civilisation brings.
The way Blizzard does theese changes might not be the bestest of ways but it sure gives alot of return concidering the size of the investment. You get to feel like the world is constantly changing, just by changing few little vanity features and before you know it, vanity feature by vanity feature, WoW is now almost a completly different game from what it started.
I like it, and let's face it, once you go epic mount, you can't really go back and enjoy the Yugo mounts.
