Will I need a 1gig card with 4gigs of memory to take part in these 200 person battles.

In Eve Online 200 people in one area is a lagfest on my 512 card, with the amount of detail this game has should I expect a serious upgrade to my computer.

The majority of the lag you get in Eve is from the server side. No idea about Aion though...

Well, a lot of people at the same time means that you do need a good computer. So it all depend on what you have now.

The 1GB GFX memory is not as important as the speed of the GFX card in this case but it also helps of course.

I would say that you could probably do with 2GB ram as long as you got a good GFX card, it will take the hardest work.

So if you plan to do massive PvP you might have to consider upgrading the GFX card but it depends on what you have. But don't do it now, just put away a few bucks and don't be suprised if you have to upgrade it, but there is no need to do it until you actually gets the problem.

Besides are the new GFX cards from ATI and Nvidia releasing in september and the prices will go down then, just be sure to look so your PSU (The power thing you know) can handle it.

You wont need that in Aion,I admit I have not taken part in large scale pvp,but in the 1st beta test there was easily 200+ around me in the starting area and no lag at all, this game is very well optimized and runs great, yes I do have 4gb ram with vista but only use a 512 8800gt card and did not lag 1 bit.

It was normal to see around 100+fps in the wild and around 40-60 in cities, all that with the settings set to max, rest asured you will be fine with a 512 card.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Thats good to hear, and now that you mention it I remember reading in a few previews of the game that even the critics were immpressed with the frame rate in high traffic areas.

This is the very first thing that impressed me about Aion. The preview events were very crowded, and even on my older computer running a 512mb GFX Card and 3 gigs of ram I had no problem, no spikes, nothing even resembling lag when I had easily 200+ people all gathered around me doing their emotes and spells and what not. The game has a very very well designed graphics engine that allows people, even with lesser computers, to participate in the large scale PvPvE aspect of the game.

Availability is something that affects a games success very much, and I believe that the majority of MMO gamers at the moment will have no problem playing all aspects of Aion without frustration.

Did you even play the game?

Ive seen vieos of people in massive RvR with mediocre system specs in aion with little to no lag, and I haven't noticed ANY lag anywhere in the game that might reduce gameplay(does 2-5 fps reduction count?) and my system has a radeon 3870 (512mb) non-overclocked with GDDR3 memory.

It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay.

To make it clear, 15 minutes after the beggining of the European preview event a /who would show 5200 players. Those players were distributed in 4 channels, nobody lagged.

So you did not mean Aion even though you posted in the Aion forum?

In other words you just decided to type BS in the 1st forum that came along?

Dont worry about this guys opinion as he admits he does not have 1,Aion is very well optimized  and I think it will suprise alot of people when they go to play it,I know for a fact I never had any lag with alot of players on screen.

Only if you want to turn everything all the way up during the big battles.  You can lower settings to compensate for big battles, and the rest is up to your internet connections.
