I can't get the Shadow Odyssey at the moment due to fundage. But I'm considering it as soon as possible.
Is it worth the price? Should I wait and see if Sony will make it free? And if you haven't picked it up, why haven't you?
Thanks for your input!

Base game and all xpacs are included so unless you already own the other ones its the best deal in MMO's going right now. I dont see why they would make it free.
Yes, but I own all the other expansions already. To rebuy would be a waste, I would think.

I bought it when it was $10 on Steam three weeks ago. Leveled my Brigand to about 28 and lost interest real quick. Tried couple of AA runs, hopped around two guilds, tried crafting and it just got tiring. The level1-9 chat is abysmal as well, WoW fight every frickin day.
I rolled on Nagafen, but the population is absolutely dead during my leveling and once I saw the cluste****est in Fallen Gate, I hit unsubscribe rather quick.
Either buy it offline or get it retail up to you or wait till next expansion then bvuy itt thenyou have them both I bouoght ROK offline so i didn't get the adventure packs
Speaking from a casual gamer’s perspective I really liked it as long as I had a good group. This expansion was very unforgiving for the casual player. If you hadn’t completed all the Kunark group instances and gotten gear from there (so legendary for a casual) you would get hammered in the new Shadows content. My friends and I had to do grey shard runs until we got the T1 sets. After that it got much easier, now the only problem we have is getting a steady group. I have two good friends I always group with so that leaves 3 spots we have to nail down.
I wish Sony would have made the progression from the Kunark instances to the Shadows instances a little smoother. The group content (when you can get a group) is a lot of fun. The only other problem I had was with all the scripts. I hate scripts, in my old age I just like to hang out with friends and do a dungeon. I only get to play about 2 hours a day.
If you are hardcore or a raider I can see this expansion being a godsend for you. Lots of scripted content to keep you busy. The one overland zone they included is similar to the zones in Kunark. You start off at one quest hub that leads you to another quest hub and so on. I also feel the mobs are harder in the new zones than they are in the older ones from a solo small group point of view. I’m hoping that Sony gets it right with the content for this next expansion. Something for everyone, solo, small group, nonstandard group, full group, and hardcore/raider, if that is even possible. Kunark had too much solo content and Shadows had too much group/scripted content.
I am looking forward to the announcement of the next expansion however. I’m tired of the gear treadmill (WoW anyone!)
I have to confess that I am at best, a casual EQ II player. I lack the time necessary to become a hardcore raider at ANY MMO, much less EQ. I think I can safely avoid this expansion, at least until I either get a divorce(not bloody likely), or somehow throw the family out the door for a month. Which isn't too likely either.

unless you are level 75+ I would recommend skipping it. Once you hit 75 and have done much of the kurnak content then it would be a good idea to pick it up for the Moors areas and to start doing the tso dungeos. If you are already 75+ or 80 then I'd recommend getting it. I know that without TSO when I hit 80 I probably wouldn't have kept playing eq2 for long. TSO group dungeons have been an endless source of fun. They are plentiful, fun and lots of people do them. Big win in my book.

TSO was the xpac that made me quit eq2 after 4 years..its terrible wait till novemeber till the next xpac comes along and get it for free.
My husband gave it to me as a present (it was only $20 when he was in best buy one day) I have to say, it was as boring as when I beta'd it. It feels like pretty much all of it is just group stuff. Though its nice to have the extra aa's, they don't make much of a difference.
