Me as a casual World of warcraft player find the new arena changed coming in patch 3.2 very annoying.. since 2v2 arena PvP is the only thing i still do in WoW, Making you not be able you purcahse the new s7 gear with ratings from 2v2 will prolly make me unsubscribe .. Just wanted to get that said.

Xidal, I hope that you find another game that fills your free time with fun.
Good luck!
I think the reason is Blizz wants to balance around 5v5, but all anyone cares about right now is 2v2. so they are forcing people out of 2v2, so they don't have to balance it. seems like a cop out, but thats just how blizz works, they don't want to balance BGs so they make them useless, they don't want to balance 2v2 so they'll make it useless.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
I didnt read the entire patch notes, but that makes absolutely no sense. How does 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 qualify for gear but 2v2 doesn't? If anything, they could lower the point gain for 2v2, but to take it out of the loop entirely is kind of overboard.
The people from Blizz who are in charge of WoW right now are idiots. I'm not really sure why people still play this game to be honest.
I also see that they are catering to twinks still, good for them...

I don't think they're idiots, just lazy. The Blizzard of today is not even remotely like the Blizzard we grew to love from years back. Quite sad really.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
No - Blizzard aren't idiots. They're just reacting to events that they themselves know far more about than most posters here.
They can't balance the game for 2v2. They've tried. And failed. It's simply too difficult a thing for them to do without ruining balance in PvE or in other brackets. For example, healer + X is very powerful in 2v2. But they can't stop it without either heavily nerfing healing output (which would trash PvE) or heavily nerfing healer survivability (which would really hurt healers in larger brackets).
And is it reasonable to offer most of the rewards based on a bracket that isn't remotely balanced?
So Blizzard have given up on 2v2. It's still there for those who want to have fun. But they've effectively turned round and said "Real arena is where the balance is".

I agree with this and fully agree with Blizzards move. IMO they never should have even given the option of gathering arena points with 2vs2. The problem with 2vs 2 is exactly as described that it is to hard to balance. Classes that need some space like hunter or mage are powerless in 2vs2 and the only way to change that is either make them overpowered or completely changing what their class is about.
With 3vs3 and 5vs5 more classes will find use for arena which essentially means that not 2-3 classes are popular flavour of the months but 4-7 classes instead. It will allow Blizzard to stop butchering certain classes that underperform in 2vs2 because many of their skills that are useless in 2vs2 are actually quite nice in setups with more players. Finally it will also allow Blizzard to stop ruining the PVE game in order to make a class perform decent in 2vs2. After all many classes and specs that are useless in 2vs2 actually perform quite well in 5vs5, but as long as 2vs2 is giving the option to gather arena points to buy the newest arenagear, no one is signing up with 5vs5 teams.

They just cut the twinks out of the game where all the rest of the people is concerned. Once they turn off their exp, you won't be seeing them again in your BG's.
You can call that catering to twinks but it's a good change for non-twinks as well.

They are catering to anyone but the fail players. If your not a twink, you will now never see another twink in battlegrounds again. If your a twink that likes challenge, now you can obtain the best weapons in quests and dungeons while your xp is locked, and when you play battlegrounds you will only face other twinks that do the same.
If your the type of twink that wants an easy ride and enjoys farming non-twinks, its time to get another game because playing against non-twinks now means you'll quickly level out of your bracket
There is an NPC which you can pay 10 gold to turn off experince gains from PvPing.
All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you.
Bout time Blizz did this.
As someone already said.
2v2 is unbalanced as all hell.
Me and a friend did 2v2 for fun as a mage/ hunter team. We were lucky to win if there was a healer on the other team. If the other team happend to be something like a lock/ healer, fighting was pretty pointless. There were a number of combos that were just retardedly unblalanced in 2v2 and not suprisingly most every one of them seemed to involve a lock. The only people that should have a problem with this are the ones that were farming 2v2 with one of the unblanced duos.
OUCH
Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

actually this isnt entirely true. Guild Wars found a way to separete pvp and pve skils. The same skill in pve may not be as powerful in pvp or might be more powerful. The skills automaticaly update depending on where you are at. This was done over a year ago in an attempt to keep pvp balanced while not impacting pve play. In most cases this works.
If Guild Wars can do it, you know Blizzard is more than capable of doing the same thing especially since some of the orignal GW devs came from Blizzard and a few even were on the original WoW dev team (check anet wiki if you dont believe me)
So yeah..this seems like a cop out by Blizzard...I mean come on..if Anet and several other games can do it..surely Blizzard can too.
Yes and as soon as you turn off your experience gains, you won't be able to enter regular battlegrounds and will only be able to queue up for the special "twink/level lockers" battleground. In other words, they are dividing the twink and non-twink community.
This game went downhill when they starting balancing everything around their precious duel in a box. I liked it more before arenas.
Yeah, Blizzard could make spells and abilitites work differently in PvE and PvP but what happens when you're on a PvP server where you can be doing both at the same time?
Pretty much every problem Blizzard had with the arena, whether it be balance issues or exploits was most prevalent in 2 vs 2.
I try to still play but no one in my guild knows what it means to raid anymore, and i do also agree the the ppl in charge of WoW are idiots, and have no idea what to do.
"you know that whole 'we come in peace business.' Bite me!"
I liked the game before january 2005 when epic meant epic weapon that few will have, not you have an epic amount of purples.
Honestly to me all the changes I am seeing, except the removal of open pvp, are making the game worth looking back into for me, at least until something else comes out.
Cheers!
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
Yes, you can now chose between broken raiding or broken pvp.
Back in 2005/2006 and before they failed with that try of a ridiculous arena-esport, at least one could tell one class from another.
I agree with Blizzard's choice to change how arena works. Two versus two arena is about as balanced as dueling outside of a major city. This bracket is always dominated by an overpowered combination that powers through the competition with little skill required. Druid Deathknight anyone? How about DK/Paladin?
Blizzard has stated many times that they should never have provided a 2v2 bracket and instead made a 4v4 or just had 3v3 and 5v5.
Doktar - 70 Troll Priest - Perenolde
Raiding is now screwed, and so is PVP. Since Tigole left this game is going to hell in a handbasket faster than anything you've ever seen.
I mean all the new armor looks the same for ALL classes. All of the plate wearers are the same, cloth, etc.
I must say I laughed extremly hard reading this change. They need to just remove pvp from WoW. They will never be able to balance it right. WoW is made for pve, and they keep screwing that up to try to fix pvp.
But don't worry, I'm sure Blizzard will follow their ways and remove this because of all the cry babies.
i dont paticulary like warcraft anymore but if they are moving the emphasis away from 2 vs 2 so much the better . the only thing i would say is i would go one further and ban two people of the same class being in a group . to the op if you dont like it do what i did and leave warcraft . aions starting up in a few months so a lot of people with be trying that . if its as good as some people say it is theres going to be a lot of people from wow moving games . if the trolls are right it ll be a niche game . thing is neither flamer or troll has seen beyond level 20 unless they ve played on an asian server in which case they ve not seen the western version of it and very unlikly understood the language .
It's not just class balance. They are intentionally trying to shift people to the larger arena teams for a very basic and simple technical reason.
You know those "additional instances are unable to be spawned" message that is becoming rampant whenever you attempt to go into a dungeon. Well Arena's are instances. One of the dumbest things they did (which it took them awile to realize) was to allow for the 4 player (2v2) arena instances as it tremendously boosted the instance server load while catering to exactly the same number of simulataneous players.
They did limit the number of 2v2 instances that can be active at once awile back (remember when there were such long 2v2 queues?) But even with that the 2v2's are still sucking down more hardware horsepower then was originally estimated and planned for. And certainly far more server resources then the size of their active user base would normally warrant.
So they want people in the larger team arena's for a few strong reasons. Easier to balance, longer better fights, and better use of finate hardware resouces that are nearing the upper end of their scaleability.
