An honest question, why do you play SWG instead of the other MMORPGs available? What is it about SWG that makes you feel it is the best way to spend your time and money over the other MMOs out there?
Comments
For me, SWG offers a level of complexity and such a diverse array of systems that is unparalleled in other MMORPGs.
If you like to keep your mind busy while a game entertains you then SWG is the game for you. There is always a formula to crack or a system to understand better, for instance I recently started crafting Elite Harvesters and have been hard at work finding the best materials to create uber machinery to rip those resources out of the ground!
No other game can hold my attention like SWG does, playing WoW felt very slow paced and basic in comparison.
The other deciding factor is the incredible people that make up the SWG community, I've made so many friends in SWG and we often meet up for drinks, some even fly in from Europe to join the fun!
After almost six years I still haven't done half of the things that the game offers, there is always something else to get your teeth into.
I still need to engineer some Pets, get my PvP ship finished, get the final instance tokens for my Smugglers Dire Snare Jewellery set so that she can continue to pwn in PvP, level up in the Imperial Inquisition Pilot Squadron, have my Engineer and Structures Traders supply the server with high quality craftables and chase down those elusive high quality resource spawns among many other things on my "To-Do" list.
With fun and engaging PvE, PvP, Space combat, Crafting, Entertainering, Decorating and just plain hanging out with friends, SWG continues to deliver a very entertaining Star Wars Universe.
I started mmo with WoW, then after burning out from the repitition tried LotR, EVE, Ryzom and so forth just not finding whatever it was I was looking for.
for what it is worth I am really struck by your reply to the post asking why people played swg. I've been so bored with the mmo genre. I've spent the last week scouring the these forums. I've been searching desperately for something, anything, that would give me back that bliss feeling I experienced with my first mmo. The way you talk about it ... heck I'm going to give swg a try.
on a side note:
I can't help but wonder that if there were more posts citing a games positives and what they believe they are than posts just tearing games apart maybe more people would give the trials a go. Should you like an mmo go ahead and say so in a post. It wouldn't put you out too much to say why, right? If I hadn't stumbled across this post I can tell you I wouldn't have. I wish more people would write posts like this for the other mmo games. It would sure make the mmorpg.com forums more useful. imho of course. Just something to consider.
Hey tyntu12,
Glad I was able to inspire you to try SWG. As is human nature, people are often more vocal about things they don't like and less so when it comes to extolling the things that they do like.
There are certainly a lot of ways the SWG could improve, but as it plays today it does provide a hell of a lot of fun.
As others have stated I have yet to run out of things to do with my two characters. In other MMO's I have had 8, 9, 10 characters and capped them all out to the point that I feel there is nothing left to do with them. You can only wash, rinse, repeat so many times before you leave a game and that hasn't happened yet.
Also as a role player SWG has the most extensive set of role playing tools I have ever seen in an mmo. The story teller system allows for all kinds of player made evens and you just can't get that elsewhere.
Finally, the crafting system seems to allow for a very real player run economy. Crafted items in most cases are much more desireable than looted items. Granted the TCG and the lack of decay we're huge hits for crafters, but despite that I still feel I am a needed part of the game world.
