Does anyone else feel like this game is a fallout rip off?
1. Factions seems really similar to the fallout 1 theme, The Children of the Apocalypse, wasnt there a church group of evil robe wearing humans in fallout 1 named church of the apocalypse. Enforcers sound just like brotherhood of steel. You got yr vistas (farmers) , travelers (raiders), techs (scribes of the brotherhood of steel) and lightbearers (really similar to fallout 2 martial artists in san francisco).
2. The stats u have in this game is excatly the same as in the fallout games, with the inclusion of willpower and coordination( You got strength, charisma, endurance, intelligence, perception being the rest of em).
3. The name has "fall" in it, and even the ingame map reads "global-tech" (remember vault tech anyone).
I really like the post apocalyptic world setting and admire any game that thinks out of the box to create a whole new genre besides the same old fantasy world with your elves and orcs. But i think this game has so many similarities with the fallout series that it is a downright act of plagiarism.
What do yall think , i may be just crazy and paranoid and comparing this game too much with fallout.

You're out of your fraking mind.
Yeah its similar to Fallout, but thats not an issue. If there's an issue it's that the game isn't similar to Fallout enough.

Playing now: Fallen Earth
Waiting for: Earthrise, Mortal Online
I'll give it a shot when it's out, remember warcraft IS a warhammer rip-off and look at them now.
Well yes. And since Fallout is a ripp-off of ONE MILLION post-nuclear movies, we could say Fallen Earth is a homage to these MILLION of post-apocalypse movies.
Do we have to post clips of Chartlon Heston? or Mad Max ?
i would prefer the pictures of the women in those movies . for some reason they always seem to be wearing very little and have extremly effective air bags or maybe i just watchs the wrong post apoc movies
yep and thank god. about time someone made MMO version of fallout. can't wait to play.

:P It's post apocalyptic that's why it's somewhat similar but that's about it. Huxley is post apocalyptic too and totally different then FE or Fallout. I feel like there's at least one other PA title coming out but I forget.... o.O

Heheh, thinking of Earthrise most likely, though I remember someone (might of been one of the devs) joking that its a Post-Post Apocalyptic game :P

comparing the 2 is apples and oranges fallout is a great series with a good story line and fun game play
fallen earth im not at liberty to comment on as of yet
Definitely not a rip off, not at all. But it does have the potential to be a great game...
I can't tell you how I know this, lol, but if you're skeptical about this game, don't give up on it. It's unpolished, needs some work... even a lot of work... but the fundamentals are there. The years of development were well spent on the core of the game. Combat is solid, handled in a way that Tabula Rasa should have been done. The crafting is game changing.
This game won't be for everyone, and that's fine with me. But if you were holding out hope for this game, don't give up on it. It really has a chance to deliver.
Cant have said this any better!
Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
Playing EVE Online and AOC.

I am not 100% sure, but I think you are breaking the Fallen Earth NDA.

theres nothing mentioned there that isnt on the front page of the fe website
A fun game is a fun game. regardless of who ripsoff who.
Anyone who says this is a ripoff is a fool. Clearly it does use the post-apocalyptic theme but the bases of the two stories are extremely different. Fallout is based on a fantasy world where "Science!" prevails and allows for many odd happenings. It's also known that in the Fallout universe, the timeline split around 1950 from the real one and evolved in a different way, hence why technology in the future was retro-futuristic, very reminiscent of the 50s and how people in the 50s thought the future would be like.
In Fallen Earth, the timeline progress much the same and the reasons for the "fall out" are quite different. In essence, both universes are very unique and as such cannot really be called rip-offs of one another. Post-apocalyptic worlds would have to be trademarked and copyrighted on their own for anyone to be called a rip-off of anything doing the same basic thing.
So in short, Fallen Earth isn't a Fallout rip-off so get over it. I'm a fan of both and prefer the more modern approach to Fallen Earth's world.
Agreed. Fallout's future is also based on a nuclear armageddon as opposed to a viral one in FE. This means that there really is a pretty big difference in art and style. FE tends to a more deserted landscape as opposed to a destroyed landscape (aka fallout).
Secondly, one of the things that made Fallout such a hit was it's wonderful sense of humor. Kudos to Interplay for really doing that well and taking what would have been just a decent RPG and making it a true gaming franchise. Everything from the silly 50s retro art to all of the weird dialogue and interactions. Fallout has always been a memorable game w/ a ton of easter eggs.
So, while there are some similarities since they share the same genre of game, they really do have very distinct art styles and unless FE goes for campy situations and dialogue I don't see it as plagarism or stealing.
I really enjoyed Fallout, but I think I may believe that Fallen Earth is better.
I laughed when you said the game has "Fall" in it. yeah i would correct you HARD but am also not wanting to break NDA. They have said repeatedly however in posts and articles that they are not "The Fallout" RPG as everyone so infamously knows.
