Aion Bots and Hax

GlacianNexGlacianNex Member UncommonPosts: 654

After playing Aion CN release for 3 months now I am starting to have some serious concerns about bots. Their attempt to use Game Guard is well, pathetic is an under statament. I generally would not care if people used bots to farm gold or whatever but lately I have been seeing more and more hacks used in late game PvP. Most famous one is speed hack, where your opponent moves and fights at x10 times your speed. I loved the game but I am starting to have second thoughts about the whole thing, if late game will be full of people who hack the whole thing looses meaning.

Anyone else encountered this ? What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

Peace.

There are hacks in every game. But keep in mind that the chinese servers are always botted/hacked to the max.

Yes, there are hacks in every game. However, I have yet to see a p2p game with such blatant hacking and botting as Aion-CN.

Open Beta in Japan starts in two weeks.  If the problems still persists there, Aion is pretty doomed.

Note, however, that the Chinese company hosting Aion clearly doesn't give a damn.  They're still on version 1.0 (Japan and NA will probably both launch with 1.2) and couldn't be bothered to redo the voice overs for pretty much anything.

Since Aion launched in Korea, we have about 50servers and having issues about bots/hack/AP abusing.

Bots are issued for early game quite much..but seems like not much ppl paying attention on it.

NC banning 40-80k bot accounts for each month but seems like bot isnt getting rid off well.

Here's few hax issue also but its not that biggy and looks very few people using it.

Most serious problem is one thing that about Abyss Point abusing. Every major Aion communities

writing article about it and pointing its seriousness.

But well,, No effective solution came out yet :(

I'm not gonna talk long about it.

Hope luck will be with you guys :o

I guess we will have to wait and see what happens in Japanese and then US releases. AP absue is by far the most serious concern I have. At the end of the day Aion is still an items game and if your opponent has the most bad ass gear AP can buy well you are SOL.

How wide spread is this problem in Korean release?

I read a thread about this on another forum a few days go though i'm having trouble finding it again , however it mentioned that in patch 1.1 this was fixed , something about the amount of points lost vs gained when killing players either higher or lower level , also when killing or being killed by someone..  your rank and location were announced to everyone ,   Apart from that I will have to look into it further to see if I can track down the actual details but it doesn't sound like a major issue in the version we will be getting. Now bots may be a different case but only time will tell.

I've been playing Chinese version for months and I've had an experience. I was somehow put in a DC state but didn't DC. During this state my friend beside me somehow got surrounded by 5 asmodians and got owned (i didn't see this in this state he told me). Then my friend say they started hitting me but I hard closed the game and had problems getting back in. Something happend and it whiped my skillbar and the game thought i was new. all my areas on all maps was clouded. Not sure if this was part of it or a server side problem but it was fustrating.

Does it hurts my chances of buying the game? No. First of NCsoft don't run the chinese game. SDO does. Another thing is we are going to be ahead of Chinese version and I havent seen an update for their version for a LONG TIME.Chinese know about it too. If playing CN version makes you think less of what the US going to be, I think you should stop playing, sit down and think. Your comparing a game from another region to ours that didn't even come out.

That's a big problem. That's like me eating an apple from china and then having second thoughts about eating an apple in the USA, because it left an after-taste in my mouth. I don't think nobody should play a game overseas, find there problems and then come back to say they are having second thoughts about the version you should be playing.

In no way do US version and CN verson will be the same, managment wise, customer service wise, and more. So once again if your having second thoughts, because your playing another region (when it should be more as an learning experience and not an evaluation on how you think the NA/EU version will work/run) client. You should stop playing. I'm not being mean, but this should have went though your head. Ya know?

    EDIT

Also Korean is far ahead of NA/EU and China. There you have to actually hide to bot, you'll get banned on the spot and a lot of situations, hacks and issues are taken care of. Now when NA/EU version comes out, we will be ahead of china. Chinese are actually wanting to come to our version, because they are kinda sick of how low support SDO is doing.

Well I agree with you that I did start to play Aion CN for learning experience. However if issues I am seeing are not addressed the game is not worth my time and not worth anyone's time at that. I definately hope that a more updated version of client will help the matter but a single verison update can only do so much. I think a lot of will be up to NCSoft to project correct image and address hacking and botting issues. Considering NCSoft's current record of dealing with those issues prospects of them handling these with maximum prejudice is unlikely.

I do hope you are right about hacking being addressed in later versions. It would be a shame to see Aion go the way of the so bot and hack fests.

Hmm I'm gonna add an opinion of mine.

I used to search Weekly Top Abyss Point Earner statistics in KOR Aion homepage.

3-4months ago there was a patch that fixing AP abusing stuffs but it didn't worked for enough long time.

Time passed and bad guys started to make new way to abuse AP.

Guess about 10-20 peoples are messing around with Hack/AP abusing in a server for now

where about 5000-10000 peoples are playing in.

Its up to your server and peoples who you are playing with so much.

Mind and attitude of public can lead your server to doomed server or clean server(At least korean server is on that way, no idea about abroad Aion)

I know some servers(Ariel,Lumiel) that totally ruined by AP abuser and frustrated many clean users.

In those servers rate of abusers are very high and almost ruined seriously for recent 2months.

Because many peoples are doing it and no harsh judgement came out yet.

Servers that like Ariel, Lumiel i can count easily 50-100 peoples(or fewer cause of multi clienting)

are doing AP abusing. But there's some clean server as well..

I can count only 5-10 abusers on those servers where major abusers were judgemented early time.

So i think there will be huge difference by pubishers's treatment.

If NC Soft manages bots and hacks as good as in Lineage 2, we are doomed.

I want to try the game once it releases but I'll for sure wait and see how the devs act against Bots.

Im sorry to say but, If you made a basket, you will make hundreds.

I feel you. Also remember that NCsoft DON'T OPERATE Chinese Aion. Big difference about that. That's why I would just ignore things that happen in Chinese beta and don't apply things that go on there, to what will go on in the western versions.

Always next edition come with better quality and lower error if there was any kind of error.

Let me say one common saying in Korean servers.

"We are only beta tester for NA/EU Aion"

There was quite many bug/error in Korean Aion(but not that serious to see a game's epic fail)

Most of them fixed well in short time, this thing never going to be happened in EU/NA version i think.

Only few problem is not solved yet(few hax, but hax used to get account banned, and new way of AP abusing)

soso, we are truly beta testers of Aion but enjoyed fruits faster ;p

Yeah, bots and especially hacks are my greatest fear for the game. I'm waiting to get into the open Japanese beta next week. I hope everything goes well...

(They should at least announce how much the game is going to cost lol, it hasnt been announced yet)

  • NeyonNeyon Member Posts: 197

CN aion is not run by ncsoft but another company called Shadna or something along those lines. It should be treated much more harshly on our retail. Besides, if people are obviously hacking, record it using fraps or something and send the clip to ncsoft. Instant ban.

As proven in SKorea, once the community and the economy settles down (4-6months) bots lose all their possible influence ingame, unlike L2, Aion's endgame is dominated by soulbound/BoP equipment. Crafting is a different issue, however, if bots are still alive in Korea is because they aim to control that side of the market and provide gold to newcomers, but, unlike in L2, the best players are the ones playing by themselves.

Bots can't sell you Abyss Points right?  I mean that's not exactly a tradeable item.

Currency is easy to come by from my experience and endgame is all Abyss Points anyways...  So I can't imagine they'll have a strong hold on anything except the players that allow a powerleveling service.  I would hope that's less than the players willing to buy Kinah.

The main difference I see between Aion NA /EU and Aion CN is the controlling company. Hopefully, NCsoft will do a much better job vs bots this go around.

Well my point of view (since I did pre-order) is I will see what happens when its live.  My personal biggest issue is companies not enforcing their ToS/Eula.

Example:  When WAR launched they had this big banhammer counter up about gold spammer banned.  Yet it was quite easy to "check" an option when you first came into the game world to not get spam from them.  At the same time people were in the scenario's using "WAR Buddy" and never vanishing regardless of how much they were reported.

So its not just Bots that action needs to be taken against.

On the other hand there were plenty of people who used to sell "RP Services" in DAoC.... so its not impossible to get a service like that.  Which again comes back to ToS/Eula enforcement when people are found to be doing stuff like this.

    /shrug

Yet I do find it hard to make any comments on what the NA release will be like... until its ... released.

  • patrynspatryns Member UncommonPosts: 81

This post is cracking me up.  Lets see there were and are hacks for EQ, EQ1, AOC, War, Daoc and every game out there.  Now when I see someone cheating I do report them if any action is taken or not it is hard to tell, but to go after AION about hacks is a joke since you can see even on youtube people going through walls flying to mountain tops and running like speed racer in most of the mmos on the market today.

That's got to be one of the best opinions I've read from these forums yet.
