I don't think you have to download the client from fileplanet though, when I entered the key at NCsott's webpage it gave me the option to download it there.
The bulk of the game is downloaded through the ncsoft launcher, and I would really recommend starting it now. Before the first beta weekend, things were getting pretty bogged down.
But no worries, it was worth the wait!
As of about 5 minutes ago, there were still keys for registered *non paying* accounts as well. YMMV

Ah, Didn't know it worked for free accoutns, when you clicked the aion thing before the keys were out it asked if you wanted to subscribe, but hey, at least everyone can get it now.
Ah I didn't reliaze it was open for everyone since I am a subscriber I assume for people with subs only. Thanks for the info I will let my friends know anyone can try to get one.
IMO it was prolly ment to be for payed subs only, but someone messed up.
I think this is what happened too, someone just got fired at IGN's office.

Damn, I just missed it as well. But EB Games / Game Stop is still taking $5 pre-orders w/ early access code and in game items.
Good thing I'm preordering tomorrow. I heard from a friend that certain Gamestops were out of preorder codes...............

Will the characters be whiped after this beta or are they now keepers?
obviously they will be wiped, have you ever heard of a p2p mmo that has released with keeping characters during beta?

uhmm...how about Lotro? a AAA P2p game...had something called a Founder's Program that offered anyone preordering, a guaranteed beta spot and CHARACTER ROLL-OVER from beta server to retail. Mind you it was Open Beta and not Closed but it's still beta
It's my understanding that they will be wiped, and this makes sense as one of the percs for preordering is early access and the ability to reserve character names.. Can't really reserve a character name if they didn't do a character wipe, at least I wouldn't think so...
They will be wiped, but the chinese players in there CBT got to keep there's. It did not effect the outcome much because most of the testers moved to another server to be with friends.
