Huge zones, very small world

I've been playing this game for a month now and beginning to get bored with it. I play a sk, currently 23, and find the gameplay very very dull.

I dont feel at all the freedom I had in everquest, the world is very segmented , and there is nothing really to explore on your own. Basically , from lvl1 to lvl 10, you level  in newbies areas in city zone, then from 10 to 20 , Commonlands or a Wailing Cave ( dunjeon for lvl 12-17 ), then you hit Fallen Gate ( dunjeon 18-22 ) then Nektulos 20-30 then after that you cant go anywhere on your own because you need to do quest to access enchanted land, everfrost.

I loved in EQ1 being able to run around even in very dangerous zone or change hunting ground form time to time, here you simply cant do that . Nektulos is packed with mobs ebsolutely everywhere and you cant go out of the trails unless you have a death wish, Thundering steppes is the same and the funny thing is that even the mobs are the same, giants and undead in both zones. The only difference being TS is for lighties, Nektulos is for evil.

The 2 dunjeons i've been in have a very short lvl range, maximum is 6/7 levels, where are dunjeons like Upper and Lower Guk , Sol A, Sol B ,where you could spend weeks in it and going from 20 to 40 if you wanted ?

I dont feel the magic I had in EQ1, exploring the wordd, going from Toxulia to everfrost, running through all karana lands, being lost in trolls swamp, going invisible into Neriak third gate to kill darl elfs npcs. Where is all that gone ?

Grinding xp in 1 zone for 10 lvls is no fun for me and 90% of the people who play this game just focus on xp grinding, going into specific zones, only for armor quests  purpose, a good example being Edgewaters drains for AQ4.  Try to make a group and tell them to go there only for xp or exploring, nobody want to go there, they prefer to grind in Nektulos upto 30 then grind again in another zone 30-40.

Man, this is very very boring, I now do more and more crafting, at least I learn new things, I go outside to gather ressources, come back to create items and sell them after that. That's the only thing that keep me playing at the moment.

I'm going to give 1 or 2 months of my time to this game and if I see this is the same at higher levels, I will cancel my account

Go play another game. Those who are playing now and enjoy it don't care why you don't like it. If you don't like playing it then don't. It's that simple.

This post isn't intended for those who like the game. It's sharing a former players review of the game and offers detailed insight into why he discontinued his service. Posts like these are valuable for two reasons. First they provide valuable information for people who have not yet bought Everquest2 and are considering it (I know I at least do alot of forum digging before I spend time/money on a game). Secondly they give developers feedback/advice on how to design their own products.

In the wake of the trolling on the part of blizzard fanatics before and directly after EQ2's launch I can understand some may react with knee-jerk responses along the lines of "go away". Things are starting to calm down however and providing a medium for well written detailed feedback is an important aspect of these forums existence. In my case it's one of the primary reasons for my frequenting this site so often.
