Fileplanet Download Question

ToxiliumToxilium Member UncommonPosts: 905

Okay, I got my key from FP and added it to my PlayNC account fine and dandy. It says I can download the client from either the PlayNC account manager, or Fileplanet. I choose Fileplanet, as being a subscriber they give me faster speeds. When the 6.5 something GB client finished downloading, it said the file was "pre-loaded" and locked until Thursday. This means I downloaded the file, but cannot install it. If I download the client directly from NC, will it download AND install, unlike the Fileplanet download?

Also, the beta is locked until Thursday, or is that just for people with the Fileplanet keys?

I am pretty sure the beta is locked until thursday. I am in the process of downloading the files from NC atm. It will probably be another hour or so before thats done. If you don't get an aswer by then, and if I am still awake I will let you know.

I am also wondering why the NC download is smaller then fileplanets.

I don't know about the file planet thing but I downloaded the game right from NCSoft's website and installed it (This was a while ago). The game installed and all fine and they sent me an email later saying my account was activated.

Remember though that you won't be able to log into the game until Thursday as the beta servers are not functioning now. If you do get the game installed, try running it to make sure everything seems to be working. You won't get past the log in screen though. I strongly encourage you to install the game as an administrator to avoid any installation issues. Right click the install icon and click run as administrator option and follow the prompts.

Since you are on the beta, please make sure you go to the beta forums and post any bugs or suggestions you find on the beta forums.

You cannot access the beta forums until the beta servers go up (They take them down when the beta servers are down) and you must be a beta subscriber to even access the forums (people not playing the beta game cannot even post or read the forums).

One odd thing, my GF downloaded the game from NCSoft's website on two computers at the same time. One downloaded the game file by file and the other did one giant file. We never did figure out why.

Do you recall the file size? OP said 6.5 gigs and my friend got it from fileplanet, his was over 6 gigs as well. Would be nice to see what it showed from someone who got it from NC directly.

In my properties window, it's showing 6.12 GB, which is less than the 7+ client Fileplanet said it was. Regardless, I'm going to delete it and install from the NC Launcher, as it installs directly with no hassle from Fileplanet's pre-load locking mechanism.

In regards to the "Run in administrator mode" poster, no worries. I use Windows Server 2008 as my OS; it's basically Vista with none of the UAC crap, and runs about 10x faster. Not to mention it is made for networking and administration, so my download speed is also about 10x faster.

The fileplanet download is unlocked as of today (Jul 1) so if you have downloaded that no need to get it again from NC.  If the Download manager is not running just run it and it should unlock it , after that  run the setup to install.

I ended up downloading it from NC's webpage. The original download was around 5.5 gigs but it also patched it so not sure what the total size is off hand. But I was able to install and run the program...although I could not log in of course. But that being said...the login screen looked beautiful....(not sarcasm) It did look really nice lol...
