The story goes that President Obama had no plans to talk tough against the Iranian crackdown of its citizen protestors. But Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is known to be more of a hawk on foreign policy than Obama, urged him to take a tougher stance. After days of resisting, he finally decided to take her advice. There was only one problem...he didn't tell her first. Hillary Clinton found out about Obama's "appalled and outraged" speech just like everyone else, she watched him give it on television.
No word yet on whether or not her jaw hit the floor when she saw the speech.

Exactly what's the crack?
Politics.....No one can make it clear.
It may not be a real secret that President Obama doesn't have much respect for Hillary Clinton, but at least his administration tried to create the appearance of being more or less monolithic. This story is a hard one to find, you will never see it reported in the mainstream media, at least not this early in Obama's presidency. But it's there nonetheless. And it is indicative of a schism within his administration on foreign policy. Remember, the press relished in the divide that existed between Donald Rumsfeld and Colin Powell. This rift could take on similiar proportions. But again, don't expect to hear much about it in the news.
The signs have been there since the time of Clinton's appointment. She has a much less prominent role on the foreign stage than previous Secretaries of State. Perhaps its because Obama doesn't want her getting too much attention or perhaps its because he disagrees with many of her foreign policy positions. Who knows? But look at his foreign policy structure in the most sensitive areas of the world. George Mitchell is Obama's Special Envoy to the Middle East. Richard Holbrooke is Obama's Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan. These are places where Clinton should be front and center and she's not.
And now he's even stealing her ideas and not giving her credit for it. I don't think it has anything to do with Obama coming around to her way of thinking. I think it's more about the criticism he was taking for his lack of support for the Iranian protestors and his attempt to curb it. Instead of informing Clinton he was going to take her advice, he simply decided to co-opt her position.
The cracks come from the fact that Obama is nothing but a filthy liar.
If you pass my stimulus plan unemployment will not go above 8.5%.
Porkulus passed unemploymemt now sits at 9.5%
I promise not to raise taxes on anyone making less than 250k
new cigarette tax disproportiantly hits people making less than 250k
His cap and trade non-sence will add at least $800 in extra energy costs per family
He is considering taxing health benefits to pay for the people that don't have health insurance in this country.
That no taxes on those making less than 250k is going to come back and bite him like Bush senior's read my lips no new taxes.
Obama is a fility liar just like the rest of the politicians in Washington. So far Change we can believe in is involves spending like there is no tomorrow taxing the hell out of anyone that actually has a job, and turning the United States into a third rate power.

If you give Obama a dollar, he'll give you a nickel back. That's what he meant by change.
Right now I think Obama should be impeached before he does any more damage. We knew Bush was on his way out last year when he started the TARP plan but Obama has another 3 1/2 years to really screw things up.
Someone more qualified needs to be in that position and it needs to be someone the media can feel free to pick apart when they're doing something wrong.

Let me get this straight...Obama appointed Clinton to Secretary of State because he "disagrees with many of her foreign policy positions"?
I'd just like to say that it brings me a little joy every time I see frivolous, frothing-at-the-mouth, bozo posts by the Obama haters.
I work with many of these types, and they all assume that I share their prejudice because I'm a southern white male. They now criticize Obama for everything they can think of (one even calls him the anti-christ).
I let them spout their bullshit without saying a word.
I also remember them all telling me in hushed tones before the election that there was NO WAY they were gonna vote for a BLACK GUY for president (although they didn't use the term "black guy," they used something a lot worse).
So just be aware... most of us can see through that thin patina of political outrage that you paint on every Obama whine.
It must be really frustrating to not be able to come out and say what's REALLY bugging you...
I will go on enjoying this silent rage for the next 3 years... so bring on the silly complaints, whines, and tears. Most of the people screaming and yelling supported the people that REALLY got us into this mess.
To quote a friend of mine: "your bitterness is palpable and delicious!"

o c'mon dailybuzz, you know you have to keep your enemies closer. Obama put her under thumb for that very reason.

So Obama went with Clinton's position, and the crack is that he didn't tell her ahead of time that he was going to?
There is a such thing as "pleasantly surprised". This seems to be more in line with what happened. I highly doubt she would've been more pleased if he hadn't taken her advice in the end instead of changing his mind at the last minute.
But if you'd like to imagine that something fickle is goihg on, more power to you, but it's a bit weird to call an agreed upon action a crack. It's actually the opposite, which is cementing if the two came together on something. I'm glad they did.
Who cares? I think history has taught us that we just do not get along with each other. Fact of the matter is we really have no idea what is going on behind the scenes of this administration or any other administration. To call out Obama for being a liar is like calling road something you drive on. Politicians lie, they have all throughout history and Obama or his majority of tyrants in the Senate are no different. The only crack in this administartion is the stuff they are smoking thinking that borrow/tax and spend is actually going to work over the long term. Gonna suck to be us in ten years. Thanks to all the stupid politicians who have screwed us for years to come.

Yep, you got it. You don't really need someone who agrees with you all that much when you reduce their job responsibilities. I would say any number of Obama's "czars" have more power than Hillary Clinton. Why would he need a strong Secretary of State when foreign policy begins and ends with Obama anyway? Remember his well publicized trip to the Middle East and speech in Cairo? Obama is the ultimate when it comes to the cult of personality. Clinton is little more than an afterthought.
But as Faxxer said, it's not because he disagrees with Clinton, it's because he wants to put her in a position where it's impossible for her to criticize him. Give her a spot in his cabinet and diminish her role as much as possible.
I'm going to make a prediction. Hillary knows that her last chance to ever be president is in 2012. If Obama becomes unpopular by early next year, look for her to resign as Secretary of State by next summer, turn against Obama and lay plans for another run as president.
Well isn't this a wonderful world we live in filled with leprechauns and pixie dust. Secretary Clinton is just all thrilled to pieces that Obama ignored her counsel for two days while critcism against him built. And then when the writing was on the wall, he does an about face and adopts her position but acts as though it was his idea. She sat around the White House while Bill screwed just about every woman in Washington D.C., it's only fair that she's the one getting screwed now.

Yeah..faxxer nailed it.Im going to have to agree with your prediction also.

You got proof to back up that statement? Because, if you don't, then you engaging in libel.
The only other woman that I'm aware of that Bill has been actually shown to have sexual relations with, while in Washington D.C., was Monica Lewinsky. And, what they did for each other, that was officially revealed, doesn't count as "screwing" anyways. One woman is far from "just about every woman in Washinton D.C." Thus, unless you provide actual, solid proof to back up your statement, you are doing nothing but libel.

Take it easy, dude. It's called exaggeration. No libel here. I know he didn't screw every woman in DC, it's a statement to express his pattern of sexual behavior. Libel would be if I had accused him of having sex with a specific woman with whom he did not.
It's the same as all the Bush haters who accused him of being worse than Hitler. That's not libel, it's exaggeration to the extreme.

Sorry Zind but you make it sound like this is the first time you've ever looked into politics. This sort of thing is common in any government, and could have been any one of a dozen world leaders. It's not a "crack" in Obama's presidency, or an indication that all the Republicans were right all along and he's a piece of shit.
It's just basic politics, and human dynamics. Christ I see people doing that sort of thing in my office every week.
