Graphics

I'm just wondering if my PC will run WoW and since you can't post on the WoW Offical Forums without being a customer, I thought I'd post here! The spec of my computer is;

Intel Celeron 2.0Ghz, 512MB RAM, 50GB HDD, 512k Broadband. I think this is ok but i am worryed about my crappy graphics, it's some SiS 32MB one. i've attached a screenshot of the dxdiag screen showing it.

Thanks,

Valrick

    ouch mate lol

very bad specs, u might just run it on very low detail, but not very well

id wait until u get a new machine

Thanks, it's a real gaming rig!

A new PC might be on the way since the PSU practically exploded last week and somehow the CD Drive managed to shatter a disk have way though playing it. I'm thinkin P4 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB. Would that do the trick?

yeah bro, but get a better graphics card if u have some spare cash

    im running

    2.8 p4

    1 gig of corsair ram

    x800 pro graphics

no game can test it yet lol

I have 512MB RAM, 2.4 GHz hard drive, a 128MB video card and I rarely experience lag.

The gryphon rides and when there are a LOT (I mean a LOT) of players on screen, make it a little choppy, but it's not game-breaking nor problematic.

It's christmas soon of course he will be able to get a new gfx card. :D

Other than your graphic card it will run ok, Im using a GeForce MX 440 128mb and with some gfx tweaks here and there Ive been able to have loads of horde zergs filling my screen without the computer freezing.

If your low on budget get a sapphire radeon 9600 pro adv. 128/256mb, it's cheap and I you'll be able to run wow ok.

But I suggest getting a good graphic card that will last atleast a year or so if you wan't to play other more craving games, Im even suprised that this computer is able to run any game with a MX card. (saving money for a SR X800 Pro 256MB DDR3 ~$590 - $216 so far, I hope I'll recieve some cash instead of cloths on christmas eve)

i just hope i can get my WoW registered today ( in the UK got the game and gamecard on import ) after being told i can register without a credit card, but it seems like it does need one, sucks!!!!

does anyone know any UK players in game that can tell me how they did it?

You definitely need a better graphics card. I'm surprised you can play any modern game with that antique. The rest of the setup is ok. Although it wouldn't hurt to have increase your memory to 1gig.

  • ValrickValrick Member Posts: 8

Haha, i don't play modern games on this "antique." So, as christmas is coming and i requested a new graphics card, would that be enuff to let me play?? If not I could always just jam in a new processor and graphics card (I've realised I've been saving money for no particular reason image )

What graphics card would you guys suggest? Nuthin to expensive tho. Just something that'll do the job.

    Thanks,

It ran on my celeron 1.2ghz, all graphics at low, EXCEPT I have 1 gig of RAM.  No Lag.

And I see people with monsters PCs playing WoW, except they have 512 megs of RAM and they lag.

Don't play WoW until you get 1 gig of RAM, you will be very frustrated.

Ummm... actually, it runs fine on my friends computer, and he has 256 MB of ram... its DDR 3200, that might have something to do with it, heh. But yea, dude, the graphics card is the number one thing to get upgraded and after that I would go with the CPU actually... cause celerons are pretty out of date. But yea, after GFX definately CPU or RAM.

In the beta my wife was playing it on this setup

AMD athalon 1900XP, 512 megs ddr3200 ram (mb running it as ddr2700), gforce3 ti500 (64mb) and she was running it on high graphics settings, it ran smooth and nice, would lagg a bit when first loading the game but fine afterwards

You might be ok as is, but I would get a new vid card as soon as you can :P

She is now running on an AMD64 3200+, same ram but running at ddr3200 (400mhz), same vid card, and there is no lag what so ever on high graphics settings.

Here are the "Official" System Requirments for World of Warcraft ::::20::

    System Req.

Note that these are the minimum ::::02::

OK, so i'm definatly gonna need a new graphics card. Now the question is, which one? I'm not looking for something thats gonna blow a hole in my wallet, just something that'll get the job done, with decent results. Preferably an ATI card as I know where I stand with them, not like the Nvidia Gefore FX ZXYX Dohikkie-Thingamy-Jig  series of graphics cards.

    Any help appreciated,

So i checked about today and I found a Radeon 9600XT 256MB graphics card. Do you think this would do the trick?

Yeh, I was really into Everquest 2 until I saw the Min. Specification. But i saw a thing on On The Spot on Gamespot about WoW and it showed in-game footage, and I thought wow, WoW, it looks good!

Anyways, going out today, might see if I can pick something up.

The gfx will run fine if you have a gf 2 or later. It's the seamless world that requires the most powers. I have 512 and it lagged when I took some new flightpaths and so. So if you have more than 512 in ram and a card better than gf 2 it will run fine I think.
