Compareing stats before 1.05 and after, player count in 24 hour period on same week day as dropped 60% and still declineing. Seems like pvp people are unhappy with this new patch. It's a shame since the patch has good itemization and tweaks, but the pvp balance is worse than ever. I hope they will fix it.

The U.S. Forums say they are losing players due to 1.05 as well, especially Raiders.
And the Exploits that still run rampant (guessing that link gets deleted quickly, it has almost the whole laundry list).
Nice to see you too Zorv
Let me ask this.
Why are they not allowing paid server transfers to Fury then? If this so called stat was factual..
Maybe because this has just happened in few days? In our guild we used to have 30 people online during peak hours (total 344), now we have 7 just today. 15 players have told me that they have unsubbed, i know cause im officer. The fact is that things are not looking good, just look at the 1.05 feedback threads, people are seriously pissed off. Amazingavery, i know you love conan, so do i but its time to face the facts.

Heheh, guess either I need to adjust my "Avery Incoming" radar, or you need to work on your timing.
Unless your guild is all of the Fury server, it sounds like more of a guild problem. Everyone screamed, hollared and kicked for gear to be more meaningful and now it is. So they /nerdrage LOL
You are playing a video game. By definition that means you are not hardcore.
The guild I'm in went from around 25 online to 34+. So we experienced the opposite of you guys. I think I know what guild you are refering too, and if you look at the feedback there is some pissed of people, but they are not the majority, they simply just shouts the loudest.
*edit*
The increase might have been from people coming back from vacations etc. since I haven't been a member a long time yet it's hard to say if and what etc. :P But the general impression I have gotten over the days is that we get more people coming back to the game.
Oh and also the way you based your calculations is a bit interesting, we will see over a much longer time how many players we lost to patch 1.05 on fury. Saying that we lost 60% based on your own calculations in a short time period proves nothing. The real picture will be shown in a month or 2.
Playing: Battlefield - Bad company (Xbox360) Arma2, DFO (PC)
On my radar: TSW, MO
MMO's played: SWG (pre cu/cu), WoW, AoC, WAR, DFO, Planetside
MMO's that I have tested: Lotro, L2, Aion, Ryzom
Mostly oneshotters are pissed now 'cuz their source of "ownage" just got... owned There are indeed discontent people on Fury, as the patch seems to have fixed the PvE side of things and borked the pvp balance to a new level. But... there's a lot of fresh blood incoming and, frankly, the so-called veterans of Fury have absolutely no interest in seeing AoC as an MMO, but more like a giant Counterstrike map with oneshotting guns in their hands. Fortunately, the director is not pandering to their myopic needs anymore and sees the bigger picture here.
They really need to fix the pvp side of things in the next month or so (way before 1.6), so that even the veterans will be willing to stay.
He's right you know,
The AoC Forums have gone absolutely batty with unsatisified people.
.....But if you want to really face facts..........
By this time next year there will be a ton of new MMORPGS....Star Trek Online, Star Wars, Aion, GW2...(all by experienced and quality game makers) and that's just for starters.
After the next gen of MMORPGS arrive...that should be the final nail.
This was a really disgusting and trolling post about AoC, but at the last second I decided to delete what I wrote. It was about the state of AoC even after this suposed uber mega pacht, but I deleted it all.
I can only talk from my own opinion about what I think about patch 1.05.
Well I can start by saying that they've really nerfed my class (PoM), before patch I could solo 3-4 mobs of my level quite easily, but now I can only solo 1-2 and even then its a struggle because now I run out of mana a lot quicker than I did before.
I would feel justified in saying that I hate patch 1.05, but I wont because I love the new patch. It has made me re-think the way I play my character and I feel now that PoM is now exactly what it is supposed to be, a great healer and a fairly weak DPS class.
As I said at the start of the post this is my opinion and I am extremely happy with what the new patch brings to the game.
The following link is an interview with the developer regarding the recent changes:

That's his opinion. My opinion is the patch just came out, of course the forums are lit up with various opinions. It will need a few tweaks for the big issues that came up with it. They have already had two hot fixes for various things.
Bring on the new MMOs! I'm looking forward to the competition. I want to see how well the devs can create content and innovative features to make me stick around. Out of the MMOs you listed I am only interested in Star Trek. With EA owning Bioware now I have my doubts on Star Wars, doubting the fun factor. GW2 next year? .... I'll believe it when I see it.

You are right, AoC has no place left to go but down now. Look at the history.. Release, sold like mad probaably more than a million copies sold in first six months but it had a terrible retention rate so by January down to less than 100K. Server merges in January gave a big booth in resubs for a few weeks but once aging the game has no staying power. Free trial the next month, once again a lot of fresh blood came in but left just as fast. Now the 1.05 miracle patch is getting a lot of flak from the present subscribers even as it tweaks the curiosity of past subscribers such as myself. Sorry fans but things do not look good right now for the game.
I miss DAoC
As a recent resub, I must say the patch is very good for the game. FIghts seem more drawn out, no more one shots.
BUT, I do also see many people leaving. Entire guilds heading off to Aion.
The patch isn't bad per se (in fact I think it's quite good), but the people left in the game really don't seem to care about it, and there doesn't seem to be a large number of returning vets to make up for it
Who told you that they were leaving off to Aion?

The 1.05 patch made mages ubber and destroyed melee class players. All mages do is CC, run back, Nuke, Nuke, CC, run back, Nuke, Nuke... Melee classes might get a few combo during this and get the mages health down to around 60% before they die.
Everything else in 1.05 I like, the gear is better now and PvE seems pretty good, although Guardians got hit hard even in PvE, they nerfed Defensive stance and Health regeneration really hard which makes Guards semi useless. I found it better to stay in frenzy stance while tanking in Atzels because the Defensive stance got nerfed so bad.
Anyways I canceled yet again, I'm not going to pay them $15 a month to beta test there patch, Ill come back in a few months after they nerf things so the game is more balanced.

Actually..people seem to throw around the word "patch." This was not simply a patch...this was a major overhaul. There's quite a difference when you think about.
To call this a patch is the equivalent of saying General Motors is simply changing their company's mission statement.
This was an overhaul that reflects exactly how absolutely wrong they got the game the first time. In reality the only thing that really hasn't changed was the graphics.
If we are agreeing that there is a great deal of turmoil from a simple patch, then we should probably acknowledge that an overhaul has caused almost Armageddon. If we keep it propotional.
People who are complaining about the patch have themselves to blame. This patch has been on the test server for months. If they never bothered to read the forums or try the patch for themselves, then boo f'n hoo.

just like release huh? when the beta players said it was not ready for release. The patch obviously needed more bug fixing and the balance was bad, even Craig admitted the balance was bad in that interview Avery posted.
People leaving will be not boo f'n hooing, om the other hand Funcom's accounting Department and the few fanboys left might be.

Well if they are leaving in droves I sure couldn't tell it yesterday. I spent a good bit of my holiday off playing AoC. I did Sanctum, CoD, and Death to Vanir and did not have trouble finding people for those dungeons/quests. I was aiming for Tord's Tomb, but it got late and I couldn't find enough people for that.
My opinion this "patch", whatever, has gone over well. It is you people and you know who you are that don't even play this game that have to go over to the AoC forums and link some posts of a few players and call it majority. This is from a person who plays on a PvE server, I won't guess on a PvP server. I asked in group while waiting for a tank to get back from AFK if anyone has came back due to this new "update"/"patch". Three of the six came back because they wanted to check out the new "patch"/"update" and really liked what they saw. The fourth came from Vanguard a month ago and was wanting to try something new.
Ya'll can post doom and gloom all you want till the cows come home. The proof is in the game, from people that actually play it, which in my opinion has not got worse, but only better with the new "patch"/"update". Will they stay after laying down fifteen dollars to check out this update? We'll see....

Yep, as Fury player i'm leaving too.
I played this game for year+, loved it's combat mechanics and fast player skill based PVP (what else is there to play for long? Unless you want to level each class to 80). Patch didn't affect PVE much since there's not much to affect, but PVP is boring now.
It's not even about balance - they doubled amount of HP and reduced DPS. It take ages to kill someone, minigames at lvl 80 end with...5 total kills. Ppl just can't get trhrough each other tank and it get's even longer with more experienced people. In the game where it takes just 3-5 seconds to get back to fight, with relatively small zones and instant respawn, no item loss?
Anyway - it's s shame i used to try defending funcom, looks like i was wrong.
Waiting for next pvp player skill based game, preferably hardcore.
*yaaawn*
When are people gonna stop yelling like it's doomsday? The patch brought with it some unbalances, it's not like balance was perfect in the first place. They're working on it, they've even said that they realize that casters are OP and that they're looking to amend that. If someone unsubbed in rage after 1 or 2 days i doubt they would've stayed long in the game anyhow.
I find it rather rediculous that people can get so caught up in either "hating" or "fanboying" over a game, this is not a match between your rivaling sportsteams. It's entertainment, som enjoy one game and some another.
I believe the patch as a whole and the overhaul of the rpg system was very much needed for the game to have a more lasting appeal to people, right now im enjoying it and hope they can build from there to keep the game entertaining. I'd hate to have to go get Aion on the release date, Im so tired of mmo launches
