You might want to get into CBT3... and this is an old announcement from July 1st.

When I press my ear to the ground I can hear the sounds of horses and the thunder of a marching army approaching. This can mean only one thing – The Beta forums have opened, and you have joined us once again to test and enjoy the probably best (that’s the word I’m going for) produce of human labour throughout modern history – Aion.

Even though you can now access these forums - the game servers are still offline. They will be brought online tomorrow/Thursday noon PT, 8:00 PM BST or 9:00 CEST with many improvements for you to explore:

    - Added GameGuard beta file for Windows 7 (please note this file is still in testing and is not yet an official release).

    - Added a new full installer (found on FilePlanet).

    - Added new launch quality content for the following zones: Poeta, Verteron, Altgard and Morheim.

    - Various text changes that fixed broken quests and trainers.

    - Various text changes that fixed minor grammatical errors in quests and NPC dialogues.

Your characters have been kept since the last event, so be sure to return to them during this weekend and help us out by providing your very valuable game feedback on these forums.

Behave, keep it clean and I’ll see you around!

There is some issues with gameguard and windows 7 but then again windows 7 is beta so wouldnt expect it to work.

    Same here.

I also have a Cisco router and Windows 7 x64, Aion has always been working great. I never had a single crash.

Based on that wouldn't one expect a certain degree of polish to the game rather than the constant crash-fest (outside the first 10 levels)  On a side note the attention to detail on the wording in the americanized version is lacking quite a bit.

Between the Chinese version and the beta events, I probably have a solid month of game play time.  I haven't crashed once.  Not once.

How would the fact that a game having been released for over a year in another country in a completly different language, on completly different servers, have any impact on the accuracy of the text or stability of the game when its released in another country?

I think your getting yourself confused.

Aion is still in beta for this very reason, if you saw a gramatical error, your supposed to report it, if you have crashes your supposed to report it so they can fix it for when it is released!

Your a beta tester, stop crying and man up.

ZomG! Crashes in a beta / stress test!

The GAME has been out for awhile, but this server cluster is NEW and needs tested ... that is our job. Expect crashes, and if you can't deal with it come back at retail.

On a side note, the attention to detail on max settings with 8xAA, and cranked nvidia CP settings is absolutely amazing.

This. I just don't understand some people. The whole purpose of a beta is to fix the very problems they are crying about like a small child. Get over it, or stop testing. This isn't a free trial. This is a test. So test.

"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

I had to respond to this. If your playing a game and that game will play on a OS that you cant buy then you need to play the lottery, if it cant then you should not expect any thing more. From a business perspective, the game running on a OS that will not hit critical mass at the earliest six months to a year after it comes out is not one of your biggest concerns. Ihave done a lot of beta testing and for a game to be this stable this far out is a joy. Obviously you dont understand the role of a tester or you wouldnt be crying. I person dont take into account peoples opinions on a game because only I will know if I will like it but I always give an honest opinion about the gave performance wise and issues incountered. My real questions is that if you cannot get the game to play how can you have an opinion of it?

Yeah, maybe that's why they are in... a BETA status for the westernization (instead of a PREVIEW status)? They want to correct these mistakes, that's how they would like you to help by participating in the beta events.

Windows 7 is not beta, kernel build is final. It's in shops across the world in 90 days.

So that woud mean, its still a beta right? Not released equals beta until launch, unless you really think MS won't be making any more code changes between now and launch....

Based on that wouldn't one expect a certain degree of polish to the game rather than the constant crash-fest (outside the first 10 levels)  On a side note the attention to detail on the wording in the americanized version is lacking quite a bit.

I've never crashed so I'm not sure what the issue is. Also, that is why they are having the preview (beta) events, to work on and get feed back for the translations.

I have crashed once this weekend so far but the game has done better than the last beta weekend for me. I will say this, they need to have some editors go over all of the text before the game goes live. It would be a crap job to do but it would make the game look a lot more professional if they cleaned up the spelling and grammar.

such hostility in this thread lol.

Ill point out that I am enjoying testing it immensely regardless of the crashes.

I am overjoyed that the readers of this forum aren't experiencing issues.

I just think you should post on the beta forums that you are having crashes, specs of your computer, etc.

Part of the reason they are beta testing it in the USA is to brings its polish up for release, and correctly translate everything. Translations take forever to get everything just right, and sometimes liberties must be taken as there isn't always a direct translation.

The game seems really good compared to other betas i've tried in the past so it has a level of polish higher than i'd expect from a closed beta.

Windows 7 / 64-bit here, working fine.   There's a fix for gameguard out there for rappelz that fixes the problem for aion too.  Google it up....

My rigs hardware is better than recommended spec but its by no means a monster and im running on full graphics wihout any crashes. As for not being polished i wonder if some here are playing the same game or playing any at all.

Windows 7 64 and i am running it fine too.

  • rwmillerrwmiller Member Posts: 472

People need to stop being so literal all the time. The fact that Aion runs fine for some does not mean it runs fine for everyone but just because some people have problems doesn't mean everyone has problems. It works both ways.

And as it has been stated this is still a beta. The NA/EU developers are a completely different group of people. Yeah they got pretty clean code to and databases to work with but they have to learn it all from scratch and these things take time. Don't play in a beta if you aren't interested in helping to fix the issues. Playing in the beta and then going to other forums to say negative things is a bit unfair. This isn't to say you can't be critical of issues but they should be kept in context of a beta product.

Having said that the new launch ready content in the starter zones has had a major clean up. Very few grammar and spelling errors though there are the odd phrasing here and there still.

I started on a new server and ran all four classes up to level 10 and didn't find any major bugs and had no crashes so all in all it is looking pretty good at the moment.

I recall not being able to run LOTRO with my 8800gt card at the time when the card was one of the best available. Some blamed nvidia other blamed turbine. Not sure what was what but a year or so later i tried LOTRO again and the problem had been addressed. Someone told me new nvidia drivers fixed it another guy told me turbine had patched the problem. Thing is, with all the available hardware combinations its hard to be 100% on all of them. Aion runs fine for me and for most others although i dont doubt some may be having problems.
