Just to clairfy, KOTOR II was not BioWare, but Obsidian Entertainment.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
Don't get your hopes up. Write the game off, and just peek out of curiosity once in a while. Assume that it will suck.
That way, when it's released, if it rocks ass in ways we can't even imagine, we'll be pleasantly surprised.
This is the approach I'm taking...kinda reverse phychology....every game that I've been SURE was gonna rock ended up sucking ass...so I'm trying the opposite.
I would just ditto what a previous reply said "Wait 'till release". But frankly, after it's released I wouldn't give a shit. It's 6 words... really now? You just wasting their bandwidth with a 6 word, meaningless half-assed post. Come on, the title is over twice as long as the post. Have you ever seen a book with a title longer than the book itself? No. Why? Because the title sums up the content of the following pages/post. Not the other way around.
Now, I wouldn't really care so much, if it wasn't such a dumb post anyways. I already am annoyed when people say that an unreleased game, lacking even a closed beta sucks. Even more when they give absolutely no reason. More so when the post is half the length of the title.
Go back, type up something that is more than "I hate LOTRO, I think TOR will be like LOTRO. I hate it." (actually, that was longer than your original post anyways and gave more information). Then, maybe other people will look at your post and say "Hey, at least he tried". Instead of, "Hey, there's a total dumbass."
Sorry for the harsh words, I feel they were needed.
Thank You,
- Eric

If you had ever tried a KOTRO game, you'd know they don't play anything like LOTRO. Just the fact that there is no IP throttle for this game that even comes close to the one choking LOTRO should be enough to convince you that they're not the same. Turbine was too stupid to realize what a bunch of crap they've made with a game that HAS to follow the events of the book, with almost no leeway in the story and absolutely no realization for the evil side of things. I loved the books, but that game is constricting. The combat is not fun, the whole gilted feel to it with all of that induction crap on top of cooldowns, it's just un-appealing. Even worse is that it's just a rehash of EQ with a different skin and slightly more casual bent, although it's certainly starting to embrace the raid or die paradigm of every EQ clone out there.
I"m ready for this game to show everyone that the genre doesn't have to follow EQ's model to be successful. I'm sick to death of old school gaming and I don't think I'm alone in that regard.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

Kotor 2 wasnt from Bioware. Both kotors are nothing like LOTRO. So this still leaves the question, why you bring up LOTRO to compare to SW: TOR? My guess is that you dont know the first thing about KOTOR or SW:TOR.

You can also simply be interested without jumping to conclusions. A down to earth kind of 'so far so good' kind of approach.

Really don't see how something that is as far off as ToR can be compared to LotRO. I hope it is great but even if it just a great story with not much replay value i can get my money's worth out of it for a few months. As long as I enjoy the time I am there then it is money well spent.

This applies to every ignorant drive by post. If a person can't back up their accusations then they shouldn't post.
This game reeks of LOTRO because LOTRO took a sure fire IP and only used it to deliver a highly polished yet very shallow experience modeled off WoW, trying to emulate and even break the marketshare of WoW.
SWTOR has absolutely no hope in hell of being anything than a watered down shallow quest grinder. It won't feel like a world at all, like SWG did prior to NGE. Instead it will feel like an amusement park focused around shallow combat with shallow quests, in a bubblewrap world of disconnected instances, and capture the flag PvP.
WAR also proved to use that as far as MMOs go, the quality of your prerendered cinematics is inversely proportional to the suckatude of your actual game and it's poor in-game graphics.
Oh wow! Unfounded opinions stated like facts! I've NEVER EVER SEEN THAT BEFORE!
You must have worked on the game to know all this because half of what you write contradicts what we've been told by the developers, and the other half sounds like conjecture and opinions based off of a completly different game title made by a completly different company! But that simply can't be true because you KNOW ALL TEH FACTZORZ. All this and a proven mathematical equation describing how "the quality of your prerendered cinematics is inversely proportional to the suckatude of your actual game and it's poor in-game graphics" is simply the work of an artist and a genius.

I am going to post a quote here I feel applies to every game - mmo or single player: You can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.
I happen to like LOTRO, but I can see why Star Wars Fans would not like that approach - too much difference in story flow for one thing. I also like games like EVE where story flow isn't a big part of the game. What YOU like in a game is not always what I like in a game. Sometimes we can agree on certain aspects but not others, sometimes we cannot agree at all.
Having said that I find it somewhat dumb to criticize the game play of a game you have not, as of yet, played. I have beta tested and found that the finished game does not always resemble the game that is sold. Until the game comes out it is really kind of hard to criticize it, well not hard apparently since so many posters do just that, but for me it is. When I do not like a game I stop playing it. I do not go on to forums and trash the game because it did not appeal to me. I do not like Wow but I do not remember ever trashing it in a forum, it just doesn't appeal to me - that does not make it a good or bad game, just one I do not like.
Now as far as ToR is concerned - I may or may not play it, that depends on a variety of things. As of right now I have no opinion on the game play, I have not played it so according to my personal rules I cannot have an opinion on it. From what I have read on it - there are some interesting and some non-interesting aspects. I fear it might be a lot like Star Wars Galaxies - which I did not like. I am not saying that Galaxies was a bad game - I just did not like it.
Whenever you hear from some one that a game is bad - released or not - keep in mine the quote I posted above. Just because they didn't like it doesn't mean you won't.
