enough of this crap about FFXIV all this hype about a game nobody knows what it will be about or what it will offer it already beat the most wanted list which means it is more wanted then TOR which tells me that there must be something wrong with the ppl here and other thing is i do not see Mortal Online in the list wtf is wrong with players these days are you looking for a wow replacement or something? do not look any further you will not find it!!!

Umm, could it be because Final Fantasy is one of the most well known and beloved franchises out there? Much bigger than KotOR or any other "Star Wars" game and certainly bigger than a FFA PVP game by indy devs which has already substantially narrowed it's possible market share.
This is why: SE has experience about MMO's. Bioware has not.
Lots of people saw great potential in FFXI, and are expecting SE to fix those flaws that made them quit before (and what they've said so far supports this).
FFXI was also as far from WoW as possible. Oranges to Apples. FFXIV will not be a WoW clone either.
I highly doubt people are looking for a WoW replacement. FFXI and WoW are nothing alike, so I doubt FFIV will be like WoW.
Also, I usually don't comment on people's spelling, grammar, or anything... but use some periods, man!
Yet who can say whether Blizzard has made an influence with SE or not. It could just end up being a shallow wow/ffxi hybrid clone.
It has, yet FFXI hasn't become a WoW clone even when some ideas were copied. I don't see why they would change it with XIV.
There is good reason for the "hype", SE is a quality developer that has earned that hype over many years of putting out games people enjoy playing.

I dont know about others but i just want to play a new FF MMO as long as it's fun like the first one.

Square-Enix has demonstrated, time and again, that even when they see an idea they like in another MMO... they do not implement it "verbatim". They always put their own twist on it, making it their own, and making it work in the context of their game and world.
Even in their own Final Fantasy games, they seldom ever implement similar ideas the exact same way. You might see familiar sights (moogles, airships, summons, etc), but they're always handled differently.
If there's one company I would put money on *not* making their next MMO a "clone" of any other MMO - including their own - it's SE.

Um yes in the west. I'm saying Final Fantasy in general as a series, not just the mmo. The mmo may be bigger in the east, but Final Fantasy as a whole is huge in the west as well as the east. Even those who don't like the current mmo or even mmos at all, will look at FFIV when it comes out just to see if their's something there for them simply because it's Final Fantasy.
For example, I'd guarantee more people in the west know the name Sephiroth than know Revan.

But atm I have nothing better to do so ill bite aswell. The exitment for this game stems from a few different reasons.
1: FFXI reguardless of a lot of peoples opinions on it. It has been an extremly successfull game period. Its been around longer than WoW. It has more subs than Most of the recent MMO released. People are hoping the elements that make FFXI great will be incorpeated into FFXIV.
2: Square Enix. They are not an ameture game company, enough said
3: The Final Fantasy name. Final fantasy has a strong following I cant think of any other game title thats made it half as far as Final Fantasy series.
TOR and FF have been switching spots with 1 and 2 since ffxiv was announced.
You seriously brought up MO to this conversation? You picked the smallest niche game to compete with a jauggernaunt, FF or TOR? The players themselves are the reason these games are such a niche game and no more popular than a run of the mill f2p mmo. MO is a small niche game because the mass MMO players dont want to play a game to be ganked, greived in a game by a basement dwelling mommas boy who gets picked on at school.
I couldnt care less about wow, I have never played it, However i played ffxi for 4 years. And I want a new MMO to capture my attention like ffxi did.
