I think this will be a great feature, first of all.. its something new to an MMO. I ppl wont buy the game because of this, I think it will attract more players... think about it, No more masturbating on AoC boobs, now you can have the whole package. Cyb0rsex to a new dimension!.. There is a HUUUUGE difference between not caring about it and being all butthurt when someone suggests it's a dumb, useless feature to have. Because, see, it seems to be okay to question those who don't like the idea for whatever reason, but don't you DARE suggest it might be a bad thing, because if you do, it means you're a "puritan xian who's too afraid to see what nature gave you". And then there's the people who are militantly opposed to a user-selectable option to turn it on or off because, I'm convinced, that would take away the impact of their teabagging.

From what I've been reading about MO, the game is supposed to be very player driven and free of rules. So using a bit of imagination and (dare I say) roleplaying, this is what I thought of (none of it involving sex):
Entering battle wearing only spells or charms from the deities your character worships for protection can be a powerful sign of faith and devotion, potentially terrifying for your enemy.
Ancient Egyptians would only enter the thoth's temple nude and shaved of all hair in order to be pure. I could imagine similar signs of purity and servitude when entering chambers to kings, queens, priests, trainers, gods, goddesses, etc.
Rite of passage rituals into guilds, classes, etc., signifying rebirth into the community, possibly even dying in combat to complete the circle (too carebear?)
Nudity in player owned houses just because its home.
Dying or mending clothing and armor just because your in a hurry.
Getting too drunk and waking up fully looted.
Stealth, stealth, stealth
There is got to be plenty more possibilities that devs or players could run with. We won't know all of them of course until we see how the system handles this interesting RL social dilemma of the virtual world. And I guarentee that the more streaking, sex emotes, and teabagging players do, the more everyone else will get bored with the noobs doing it. You can get around this by not having a publisher located in the US. Which is exactly what is happening as they are selfpublishing the game so you can just buy it across the internet.

I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination. I have pictures of naked women on my computer, erotic movies in my collection and I don't hide the fact from friends if they ask. My movies are not in a box under the bed but are in the racks with all my other movies.

I think this will be a great feature, first of all.. its something new to an MMO. I ppl wont buy the game because of this, I think it will attract more players... think about it, No more masturbating on AoC boobs, now you can have the whole package. Cyb0rsex to a new dimension!.. Violence is needed in this game because it is a violent game. You fight with other players/mobs and hence you have to have violence. Nudity however serves no purpose unless you want to engage in virtual sex and, really, if you have the need to engage into virtual sex there are tons of better options out there.
Having full frontal nudity will serve no purpose what so ever but will only upset people who dont enjoy watching nude, virtual characters while playing an MMORPG. If I want to see porn, I download porn, I dont play an RPG to see some nude guys/girls.

There is a HUUUUGE difference between not caring about it and being all butthurt when someone suggests it's a dumb, useless feature to have. Because, see, it seems to be okay to question those who don't like the idea for whatever reason, but don't you DARE suggest it might be a bad thing, because if you do, it means you're a "puritan xian who's too afraid to see what nature gave you". And then there's the people who are militantly opposed to a user-selectable option to turn it on or off because, I'm convinced, that would take away the impact of their teabagging.
This argument is the most entertaining thing I've seen online since the old debates on the Bethesda forums about... you guessed it.... whether or not nudity would be in Oblivion.

From what I've been reading about MO, the game is supposed to be very player driven and free of rules. So using a bit of imagination and (dare I say) roleplaying, this is what I thought of (none of it involving sex):
There is got to be plenty more possibilities that devs or players could run with. We won't know all of them of course until we see how the system handles this interesting RL social dilemma of the virtual world. And I guarentee that the more streaking, sex emotes, and teabagging players do, the more everyone else will get bored with the noobs doing it. Coming from a nudist, ironically the more skin you see the more you really don't see it.

You can get around this by not having a publisher located in the US. Which is exactly what is happening as they are selfpublishing the game so you can just buy it across the internet.

Having full frontal nudity just opens up tons of possibilities for people to harass other people. Lets say for example someone runs around naked in circles around you, mooning you and all kind of annoying stuff. What do you do?
Kill him? Ok sure, that may work a couple of times. Until you become a murderor, which is maybe excactly what he wanted you to do.

It seems that in all too many instances more gun control(properly called victim disarmament) leads to MORE violence, not less.
As for the hysteria about nudity, well thats all too typical of the American perspective on such matters. I'm hoping we will grow out of it some day, but don't hold your breath. Its going to take awhile.

I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination. I have pictures of naked women on my computer, erotic movies in my collection and I don't hide the fact from friends if they ask. My movies are not in a box under the bed but are in the racks with all my other movies.
And I have to still say "why". If a game is going to have nudity then there really needs to be a reason. Otherwise it seems that it's just there so people can "tee hee" and point and giggle.
I think part of being mature is knowing that it doesn't have to be everywhere all the time. It's ok not to have nudity if it does nothing for the story or for the presentation.
It just seems like it's here "just to do it and to get press for it".
If a game is going to have nudity then there better be a reason. If players want to simulate sex in the privacy of their own copse of trees or castle or space shuttle that's fine with me if that is the type of game they are making.
