I have been trying to play Aion, but I can only take one step before rubber banding - very frustrating.
I live in Canada and I use a broadband connefction.
Anyone else have this problem? Solutions?

Yes its worse today than it has been but im not having it as bad as it sounds you are. Everything else as a whole is running better than before though so im sure they are addressing things. I reported the ruberbanding just a bit ago.
I only noticed it after the FilePlanet giveaway. I'm guessing it's just the servers are about peaked right now.
Yeah I noticed it a bit too.... I'm in Canada too. Not only noticed rubber banding but I was also playing with my friend right beside me on another computer and on her screen she was standing still and on mine here character had made a bee-line straight off into the distance!

Im in the US and as said i saw it today and just logged off again and can say i ran into some stuttering too, sound and graphic type stutter. But its to find this type of thing they are beta testing. What ive seen so far is pretty impressive. Ive played released games with more bugs.

Rubber banding is a NCSoft issue since Guild Wars, maybe even L2/L1 (haven't played them enough to check that).
CB3 has been considerably laggy, they are probably over their capacity for 2 servers, even though they don't cap the population BEFORE it reaches the laggy state, so they probably have work to do on their servers.
I have been playing in the China version for a while and I play in beta some, I have experienced it in both esp after a while of playing.
Something I started doing is restarting my whole PC and the RBing goes away for a bit so it would seem to be attached also to video settings...cashe maybe?? Not my area of expertise.

lol i played guild wars a while and there wasnt any issue
but i can honestly say its the only p2p that was smooth an very good looking from nc softeven now its looks better then a lot of gaME STILL no issue

Trolling a forum acting like it is the released client, and mistaking server lag for a bug... following your posts your entire night has been one giant /facepalm. Your game of choice just not that entertaining? You should take a step back, enjoy a nice refreshing beverage, and reflect on your time here.
Anyways, it's from server lag. It is getting overloaded and losing updates sent from the client which then returns the player to the last known server location. They are testing server loads and each of these weekends is like a mini stress test for launch. MMO launches are notoriously rough on servers due to the huge amount of people starting off in one area and not being spread out on the server. Many servers have a tough time handling player loads that they could normally handle flawlessly at launch which is why Warhammer did the phased server sizes. At launch the servers were capped off at lower number and as players spread out they increased the cap. That was the plan anyway.
This is why many games do a pre order head start as well. It is a win win for server development and for the players.

I swear I can not understand anything you type. I am assuming english is not your first language?
As for the rubber-banding, I have not experienced it, except for once on Thursday night when the servers were absolutely packed. I mean completely packed, there was like a 700 person queue. Other than that I have had a couple of issues of ability lag, but nothing other than that. Game actually ran suprisingly well, much, much better than WAR and even better than WoW does on a packed server.
I do hope they fix the small issues they have now though, even if they do not, if it stays like it is for me I will be happy.

Eperienced it a lot on chinese retail playing from the UK am yet to experience it on the EU beta so far its bit really smooth.
I'd rather they jam the servers now and have it be laggy then at launch.
Do you know for certain?
LoL at they guy who said he never experienced any rubber banding in Guild Wars. Moreover its a closed beta so they have to test alot of things.... server stability is one of them.
I noticed it a bit at times but it was very dependent upon the amount of other players around me and what was going on which is a fair indication that the systems were under a load.
Basically for these types of games there are two ways of handling communications between the client and the server. The first is to keep things pretty tight but then if latency jumps up you see everything freeze up for a moment and that is quite annoying. The second is to let the client make assumptions about what might happen and then just update it periodically to reflect reality but unfortunately in those cases you will get this rubber banding effect where if latency shoots up when the server and client do agree you get pulled back.
Lots of tuning and adjustment needed to try and balance the overall performance and the number of people on the server and in the same area at the same time. On one hand no one wants lag or other latency issues but no one wants to play on an empty server either.
The good news is that there seems to be a lot of interest and a lot of people playing in the beta so they should be able to do some pretty good analysis of the system loads and see if they need to add more hardware or make other changes.
I would expect this during the US / EU Beta, because...well... thats why Beta tests exist.
Even if the game has been out for over a year in a completly different country on completly different servers, it still needs testing on new servers on a different network.
Also During a beta there is lots of testing software loaded for Devs to track problems, when Beta finishes they optimise everything and remove all the development software.
I do experience it in CN servers, but again, this is natural since lag is always going to be an issue.
I am playing from outback Australia where i am connected to my local exchange by 15km of crappy copper wire that barely seems to enable a phone call some days.
My ping to the US ranges from 400-800ms yet the only rubber banding i got was when jumping off small cliffs/ledges. A few times i would get a half second of delay activating abilities and once i had the game freeze for 10 seconds or so but for the most part it was the smoothest i've ever played a mmo on US servers and even better than WAR's australian ones.
This was in 20+ hrs of playing the beta and i am more than happy if it was released in this state.
NCSoft does have rubberbanding issues in all there games that I played.
Aion isn't an exception; however, it is less prevelant on less populated channels in the game. While my son and I were playing we would switch to the higher channels to remove rubberbanding. Not a fix but it helps with gameplay immensly.
I rubber-banded like crazy while playing on the chinese open beta. I rubber-band less to almost not at all now. It's a ping / lag / distance to the servers reconciliation of netcode.

Did you see the original Lineage 2 client when it was first released? It had a memory leak akin to a massive flood. After 20 minutes the game was using 100% of resources no matter what the machine and you'd have to reboot the computer.
It was fixed by the second patch. Where are you getting your comparison from? The Lineage 2 client and Guildwars run pretty dang smooth right now.
I'd say FunCom is the poorest. AoC settings were a nightmare. The official fix was from some tech guy in their forums trying to get his own game to work. They let the players duct tape it and left it alone for a long time.

Got to love it when solareus says something about Aion. You play LOTRO right? Maybe dab into Age of Conan as well? Are these two games not enjoyable enough that you sit in the Aion forums and SS section just to /yawn and pick/poke at everything. I think by now, you have made your point yet again, or should we continue?
I'm pretty sure he is referring to that piss poor client that AoC had on launch.
Of course I'm sure it's just fine in your eyes if it takes over a year to somewhat fix an issue that should have been fine on launch. Go take your trolling elsewhere.
Me to.. Horrible lag and artifacts like rubber bandy all weekend. It seems the servers can't handle this capacity.
