WoW has more grind than Aion

Truth01Truth01 Member Posts: 3

Grinding reputation anyone? You need to kill 13433543543532413241324324324 mobs.

Repairs? Gold? Flask ?

Sooo Let's sum up. You grind from 1-70 (lvl 70-80 are less grindy) and you endgame grind ?

Grinding reputation/gold/repairs is even worse than any grind in Aion.

Let's be serious.. WoW trolls, look at your own game before you post, thanks in advance.

aww dont wind up the wow kids, most of them has only played this single mmo and think they know everything about the genre, it's a endless feud :p

My game is less bad than your game doesn't win popularity contests. I would certainly hope that people play games for their merits, not the smaller severity of their flaws.

Get out the marshmallows, boys.  I can feel the flames already.

How is level 1-70 in WoW more of a grind than 70-80?

It's all the same in my eyes.

    Most MMOs are a grind.

Keep in mind that the term 'grinding' seems to be different depending upon who you talk to.

Believe it or not, after a hard day at work I actually find grinding relaxing. I`m not always in the mood for quesing, just mindless zombie bashing. So yes. I still prever WoW over you angels wannabes.

Better to be crazy, provided you know what sane is...

That's odd because I have the exact same feeling. I sometimes actually find it a bit exciting to see what might drop on the next mob, and can I kill it faster than the previous mob, or do my skills backwards etc. I could do it forever.

Perhaps I'm just a simpleton lol.

Neither WoW nor Aion is a grind. Everquest was a grind. Chain killing for 4 hours to see your experience bar move 2 pixels at level 59 was a grind. All you attention deficit disorder kiddies need to cut out the flaming.

You know... comparing non-stop Aion to WoW... isn't that too old and boring already...

    this.

I enjoy running quest while I level. It gives me a reason to go places or kill things.

Others don't like quests, and prefer to come up with their own reason to kill things.

But in the end it all about making that XP/rep Bar move or to make money.

to the @op tho... It's really hard to say, atm, if the "grind" in Aion it worst the WoW....

But I do know what you are talking about the rep grind in WoW... They went overboard.

Didn´t know WoW had repeatable quests in low levels already. ;)

lolz @ people smacking inexperienced WoW players.  Smacking 9 million WoW players is like smacking the monitary system.  Too big to fail?

I agree that L2 is a bigger grind than EQ.  Aion will be more of an L2 grind in later levels.  Grinding in WoW is like pouring milk into a bowl of cereal.

I agree. However, in WoW the grind is hidden behind daily quests now. I still "fondly" remember the times when you really had to grind Cenarion Circle reputation at Silithus or if you were crazy enough to go for Timbermaw Hold/Frostsaber reputation grinds.

Now it is all hidden behind daily quests. You get slowly but surely there without actually feeling the effort that much because it is not so tedious as killing the same type of mob over and over a thousand  times in order to get ahead.

Also getting materials for consumable has been made so much easier since TBC. Raiding in classic WoW was really a LOT harder. It took me often many days just to get enough consumables to be able to raid effectively for few days. It truly was a chore.

Everything in WoW is now casual friendly to a boot. I do not get the feeling of achievement by downing bosses anymore because the effort is simply not there. The last boss fight I actually enjoyed was Kael'thas pre-nerf.

WoW has daily quests aka DAILY GRIND

  • nailszz6nailszz6 Member Posts: 36

You haven't grinded till you've done lvl 80-85 in L2.  Compared to WoW. L2 has NO quests.

I think people use the word "grind" so losely now. I understand quite different things from it than you do it seems.

No doubt. I could not get past 40 in that game (open beta). It was insane. I later on played on a server with 14x the XP and still the grind was pretty heavy after level 55. I just do not understand how people actually had the will to go beyond level 40 in normal servers...

Unfortunately in L2's case, excessive botting was the answer to that question.  Lately though it's impossible.

I haven't played EQ, but I have played FFXI, and that was a real grind.  Still people shouldn't point out that WoW or Aion isn't a grind since it's not like L2 or EQ.  A grind is a grind.  Devs need to work on making the process so fun that you wouldn't even think of it in that way. Until leveling up is more fun than work, I will always consider it a grind.

Grinding is fun, especially when you have some good music playing.  Grinding Elites in parties is even more fun!

I cannot agree on this at all.  The main reason I play MMOs these days is for PvP.  It's the closest thing I can get to a massive Fighter game.  Killing mobs is boring most of the time.  Regardless of if the mob is elite or not, I only see minor differences between mobs.  Their AI is pretty much the same, they may use a different spell, but they do the same thing.  I can't stand killing the same mob over and over again, regardless if I'm grouped or not.  The only difference with being grouped is the mob dies quicker.

With MMO mobs you always know what to expect.  You always use the same spells/attacks; rarely do you have to change your pattern.  At least in PvP you don't know what to expect because you have brains behind the avatar.

I'll still be playing Aion, but I'm not a fan of the current AI and player progression in MMOs.

trouble is, wows grind is all rep//gold/quest -- if you want great monster bashing grind try L2.  One of my fav MMOs by the way.  I wont get into what caused it to not be so good in the west, but I loved it.

And for the record, EVERY MMO has a grind -- each goes about it their own way, but the very nature of an MMO, is a grind.

Dude, every game has a grind. Most of the things in WoW that you mentioned )gold/rep/repairs come along as you quest and such, as with Aion but to a different extent. And an endgame grind in WoW? really? Aion is about grinding at 50 as well, you just can't die in that grind :p
