I keep hearing great things about Dark Age of Camelot's new catacombs expansion but what do you all think of it? There has really not been any catacombs discussion at all on this board.

Yes please!!! I need some feedback on Catacombs!!! Is it worth it?
I only started playing before EQ2 was released, I managed to become a Level 20 Blademaster before I quit DaoC for EQ2 (Bad me... very bad me!! I wish I never did such a thing)
But is the gameplay still the same? Is Catacombs buggy? Are the elf chicks really hot now?
I know the expansion is cheap, except you see, it's SOLD OUT everywhere. Our store had 5 copies, all 5 were reserved for 5 customers and I wasn't allowed to take one. Futureshop doesn't even know what DaoC is. EBgames was sold out too. Ahhhhhhh... I'm hesitating if I should just ordered it online but pay more due to shipping. :P

Has anyone tried it?

I am sure a lot of people have but they are too lazy to read the forum or too eager to play and forget about us *snief*
Comeone guys if you played the game let us know how good/bad it is. If you find it bad please specify why. Thanks
I saw the majority of Catacombs dungeons which are kinda like Darkness Falls but suck more then Darkness Falls The regular dungeons are all spookier like tons of cobwebs and shit.
I quit Catacombs in one day! I just didn't like the overall feel of the game. It's boring......
The new characters animations are Ugly as hell. You have the option of turnning the off so you don't quit the game like I did
There is no depth to this expansion pack it's all surface once again.
whats up with those 2
I like catacombs models are good (bether than old ones but if you played TOA you will need some time to get used to it) new classes are fun (warloc owns ppl) and PvE drops are good if you dont whant to get your arts to 70%con while farming. those ID wer made to help ppl that play without buff bots (same as kill tasks but all the way to lvl50) and only lamer will be able to get so many mobs on hes ass, i never had problems with agro there. BTW in ID you get bonus exp so yellowe gives like orane+
P.S. elf do look grate but i like lurikeens
Buffbots must die vampiir forever !!!!
Go Mythic!
For those who want to know about Catacombs... Is it worth it??
My answer is... If you already like DAoC, then the answer is Catacombs is a "Must-Buy" !!
If you like DAoC now, you are very likely to like DAoC: Catacombs even more!!
The graphics overhaul is absolutely amazing. Not only do all character models move much more fluidly now, they blink their eyes now and don't look like they are constipated when they run anymore. But the graphics upgrade goes much deeper then just the character models. The dungeons are now much, much better looking. Realistic looking cobwebs now glimmer in the light as they sway in any breezes that may sweep by them. Ultra-cool looking!! Almost ALL of the monsters that I have seen look three times better with much more detail then ever before! The spell effects for the most part look the same as before. New spells have been added with the addition of some very interesting and different new classes that add some new spice and flavor such as an evil cleric and a vampiir that can fly around over the ground.

I agree with Zaxtor99. If you like DAOC (especially PvE), you'll like Catacombs. Catacombs adds nothing for RvR, but that was never the objective of this expansion. RvRers complained like hell when TOA was released because they were "forced" to do more PvE in order to compete in RvR. Understandable since RvR is their primary interest.
DAOC seems to be splitting into two games: a PvE-centric environment and an RvR-centric environment. A character can conceivably do 100% of its leveling in RvR now and I think Mythic might continue to make that option more viable. However, Mythic's bread and butter at this point is still its PvEers so they cannot be ignored.

Most of my friends got back from EQ2 and WoW to DAoC. Now they feel bad that they didnt buy catacombs when i did
EQ2 is geting harder and harder, no pvp thats they main reson. (im for good OLD DAoC)
I don't know whats up with those first 2 either, I don't think they actually played it or bought it. If they did I think it was to intentially set themselves up to hate it.
Its a very good expansion, I have not tried the dungeons yet, I did peek into the aquaducts though, looked very sweet. The new models rock, and the animations are almost identical to the old ones, just redone with the new models. The characters look alittle "thin" now to me, but they did a real good job and did it with no major launch problems. I am noticing some of the albion armor textures are mixed up though, is anyone else having this problem? My studded is now mixed and matched even though it was all one suite type before. And some chain is showing as leather on the guards.
I HIGHLY recommend this expansion. Oh and for those with slower computers. when I went to catacombs, I could turn everything up wthout lag, which is something I could NOT achieve before.
Very nice work as usual Mythic.

I picked up Catacombs, safe to say, I dropped EQ2, and got back into DAoC, I like the updates presented.
I also have to admit that I have yet to find a game that matches the mood and atmosphere of DAoC, nothing like hunting at night by torchlight, with all the ambient music and sounds. I have yet to find something that compares.
If you like DAoC you will love catacombs!

Enjoying Catacombs!! Takes me back to the Ultima Underworld's days back in the '90s. I've been playing DAOC for six months now and having a great time online. I have not tried WOW just yet, and I'm wondering if I should invest my $$ into the game. Any input out there?
Catacombs is the best expansion so far. The updated graphics are great. They did not spend enough time on the older areas, but they still look good. The new zones look awsome. I was disapointed with the lack of customization of characters. I thought there would be a lot more customization, espically for the males. However, they added some more options in a recent patch and will be adding some more options soon.
If you play DAOC then this is a must have. Even if you are a new player to the game, I think it is a must have. It is not just the new characters which are some of the best ones they have done, or the graphics, but it will allow players the chance to group and level all together. My girlfriend still has yet to upgrade her video card, so I am forced to spend most of my time outside of the new zones. It seems to me much quicker and profitible to level in the new areas than the old.
Most people are not using the instanced dungeons but staying out in the open, however I do play on a low population server. I have never had any agro problems.
It is not the best looking game any more, but it certainly is near the top. The lack of cusomization I believe will be fixed soon. Server clustering will hopefully solve some population issues. So I would say now is a good time to get Catacombs instead of EQ@ or WoW and starting leveling your vamp.
IMHO, the instanced dungeons are terrible. They're nothing but mini versions of the other dungeons without mobile mobs. There are no puzzles to solve at all. All you do is pound monsters, which is no better than the repetitive PVE system.
OMG looks like somone didnt reed this topic. Catacombs is pve exp.. and ID isnt a quest its a kill task, have you ever seen a killtasl that says: "go ask ****** he will maybe help you to find ******* then that ***** will tell you who to kill" , maybe im missing some thing but thata was a quest
And now how about to finish this topic he asked and now im leting him have it
This is one of best exp Mythic have relesed its a PvE not RvR cus they had problems with RvR players when they created TOA.
when you buy Catacombs your geting:
2 more charecters slots
5 new classes Mid: Warloc and Valkyrie Hib: Vampiir and Bainshee Alb: Heretic all classes have new skills never befor seen in DAoC also new graphics and animation (for me humans in DAoC looks much life like than in EQ2 and you dont have to have super-puper computer
3 new PvE zones items with pve bonuses
if you playing DAoC, starting to play it or returned to it you can buy it it wont make effect on your RvR like TOA you wont be able to play new classes and you wont be able to see new models thats all, so if you buy it let it be your choice not all that offer on this forum,
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ME AND ALL MY FRIENDS (cya all after 1.01.2004) keep safe and have fun !!! english isnt my home language
Ok, so the instanced dungeons (IDs) are not itemized. They only have cash drops and experience for accomplishing the set objective. The cash drops are supposed to be a little higher than elsewhere and the experience bonus is decent. The disappointment in the IDs is due to the misconception of what they are supposed to be. Mythic did not set out to create a pharmer's paradise. The IDs are for those who want to be able to enjoy a quick and fairly profitable (both in coin and xp) short gaming session. So, if you try to run these IDs over and over again, you will get quickly bored.
It would be nice if Mythic introduced a rare chance drop system into the IDs. Not so frequent as to attract pharmers, but often enough to keep interest up. It would also be nice if they allowed you to choose a difficulty level - for instance: easy=blue and green mobs, medium=blue and yellow mobs, hard=yellow and orange mobs. As it is, people just fake a group to get the higher level mobs, so Mythic might as well give the option, and classes that have a difficult time soloing will struggle with the usually yellow mobs.
The adventure wings (AWs) of existing dungeons are a different kind of ID. Here you may get a decent drop off the AW's "boss" but the main attraction of AWs is the Aurulite drops, just like seals are the target in Darkness Falls, which you trade for armor in the new cities. AWs are keyed for groups, but you can go in solo. For instance, a level 50 soloer entering the lower level AW in Barrows will be put in an AW for a 4-man group of level 40's. A level 15 soloer entering the low level AW in Catacombs will get an AW designed for a 4-man group of level 10's. The mobs will range from green to yellow. Just be aware that lots of mobs are linked, so you won't always get solo pulls.
