Has CoV been applied for free to all old CoH accounts?

I didn't see a sticky of this, so forgive me if I ask a common question.
I played CoH back before CoV came out, so my account was just the basic version. If I resubscribe, can I play city of villians for free? Is it applied through the patcher?

One subscription fee will allow you to play both games. I'm not completely positive, but you should also be able to download CoV for free as well.

Yep. Download CoV. Log into your CoH account, and you should be able to create villains or heroes. I think the only diff in not having purchased the box is that you always have to launch CoH. If you have both boxes like me (CoV wasn't always free), then either works. But once you're in game, no diff.
CoV was added for free too all accounts back in 2007 I believe. Part of it was a nice gift commemorating NCSoft acquiring the game properly from Cryptic, but I suspect the bigger reason was that it's just not worthwhile administratively to maintain the split.
But basically the answer is yes. Come back and enjoy both sides. And a lot of other additions too.
