This post is so true.  I remember when I first started EQ, things were so different than they were a month ago when I finally canceled my account.  Another part of it is the old world, being basically barren.  This really upsets me, because some of the best memories I had of EQ were in the original world.  The market has gone to complete shit, and it's partly because of the bazaar.  I think it is safe to say that EQ is on it's way to becoming like Asheron's Call 1, where only Hackers, Chain Buffers, and cheaters play.  RIP Everquest.

Actually, I'm seeing a trend. Now, you must understand where I got my data, and how I read it <lol>
I've only skimmed through the threads, here, at mmorpg.com. But what I'm seeing, is a trend. All the power players, all the pharmers, all the high end pushers, are seeing EQ as being in the grave.

All the casual players, players for fun, med lvl guilds, (and Mac players) still see alot of life left in this game.

I think it all boils down to, what are you looking for?!

For me, I've been with EQ since the release of Kunark, I'm in a high end guild (we are Time enabled) and I'm enjoying this game as much, if not more, than ever. I'm not pharming to sell in bazaar or twinkage for my alts. I'm not looking for OoW groups, either. I'm out there, having fun, exploring and leveling in zones I might have missed or were just fun to group in.

I don't think it's dead. Not yet. I think it just depends on what you want out of it ::::19::

With EQ2 and WoWs release its not surprising, EQs fate now lies in the success of those 2 games.

Yep that is very true. Guilds on my old server are having to merge and do joint raids. Many of the guilds that didn't used to openly recruit are now doing so also.

I played the game for 4 years and I got two chars to level 65+ (I hated starting over) It got boring and having to level 5 more levels AGAIN killed it for me.

I will always miss the old EQ days of standing in EC tunnel just chatting with guildies or friends and not worrying about much else.

None of us know what the true statistics are. We only see what we see and we best react to what we know for fact. It won't surprise me if we see a return to EQ in January and it certainly won't surprise me to see a larger surge of returning players when SOE announces and releases the next expansion. At that point the new single-player games will be over, the shine of newer MMOGs will wear off, and people will fall where they have the most fun.

I quoted Loral, from mobhunter, and it's about the same thing I've been saying. It's a holiday month, with tons of new distractions. Prolly just want to wait until January to make a decision, take a wait and see attitude ::::35::

yea, in january and febuary, peopel will start trickling back to EQ1 after they try new MMOG's, and get sick of them o r find majore issues, or just hate the people, or the game, or what ever, and yea, Holiday season, the EQ population always drops for like a month or 2, everybody gets new games and such, they play trhem, then get board, beat them, and then get back to EQ, i'll bet thats what is going to happen....
