So the game is better now? how is sieges going?  what are people doing at 80 in pvp? still is keshata prettyt much the only pvp map? has ben keshata recreated to be a better pvp map?
I am curious.  I hate Funcom, but not really the game. The game was fun for lot of levels, till it stoped to be fun.

Here is how I see it.

    Sieges, PvP, and PvP Areas: Overall the quality in terms of being stable is way better (Sieges). It is not perfect, for example;

    • There was a random disconnection issues which has been reported fixed. Based on how popular sieges were across all servers NA + EU I have added up a reported 27 occurances in the last week June alone. This was fixed. There were a lot of posts about this.
    • There was a reported invisible objects issue which cropped up in some very small area's in one of the 3 Border Kingdoms which was just fixed (I think on test have to check out today's patch still)
    • Battlekeep Buff's were currently only showing under the guild info tab. It seems the PvP stats under the character info is not getting updated properly with PvP modifications. Which is been looked into any should be resolved shortly but is there. The max for this stats with Tier 3 city for reference is  10% Magic/Physic PvP invulnerabilities max. These works all over the game world in every area and not limited. There were many reported issues in the months leading up to 1.05 release where these buffs stacked incorrectly giving unfair advantage and again rectified but with the missing info on the GUI under PvP for the player specific still missing.
    • Trebuchets right now seemingly have way too much HP. This makes ninja trebbing and treb spamming very easy to do and hard to defend against. This was brought up a while ago so I am unsure if it is fixed, if not Fix this FC!
    • Caster to Melee issues (gaps in perceived abilities) notwithstanding addresssed by Funcom, leaves some melee classes not some much desired in Sieges right now as of this moment. In correcting this, just today a test server patch part of that 're-balance' one you might of seen Sil talk about should be out very soon within the next 8 business days on to the live servers. An example for cause for concern right now before this patch is Necro's and Demo's are not ( In my opinion) in balance with the rest of the game. This problem is boosted with spellweaving, especially in PvP in Sieges. Yes thats right Spellweaving is a useful feature and the OP with these two classes right now are compounded by an increase with addition Spellweave power. Also they are not in balance inside their class (different builds). Both the favourite choices for sieges right now, and to a lesser extent the HoX. People understand the power and don't have issues with them being power, but right now is a bit too much tbh.
    • In 1.05 devs added new features to let you see your entire raid on the map and their stats regardless of distance. So 96 people each able to see the details of 48 friendly players = 96X48 or 4,608 unique streams of information the server had to keep pumping, with players' position, health, and other details changing constantly in each of them. That's before you even count the enemies, the walls, and their details.
    • PvP resources for Keeps have been introduced in to the Border Kingdoms a while ago, more specifically Cimmeria's End. A dev reply on this is: "When we came up with the concept of PvP resources the initial idea was to put them in all of the border kingdoms. We quickly abandoned this idea because it would actually decrease the chance of running into someone that was gathering resources if they could do it in three different playfields. Instead there is a single one that has them to increase the chance of running into someone. This also allows us to do something else for the other two playfields. We are looking into expanding the gameplay in these playfields in the near future, in the hope to get some meaningful PvP out there As for outdoor bosses in these playfields? I'm still trying to convince some people that this is a good thing :P "  People are fighting here now in a mixture with Khesh. Now we have Tarantia Commons too. Tarantia Commons has been designed with so little guards it can be PvP paradise. There are also plans to do different things with the other 2 Border Kingdom zones coming over the next few months. The idea is to create additional meaning in these area within PvP, maybe even group PvP encounters, or even maybe ruleset changes.  Simply put fighting is spread out now, more group orientated than before outside of sieges. You now also get PvP XP from mini games - fresh change (plus new ish maps). Before, and more recently, the 'Caravanserai ' was used for player tournaments and events, guard patrol behaviour here interupted sometimes. Based on the fact FC is listening, this was changed and is now another area convenient especially as seen for dueling! So there are now plenty of reasons to mix it up for the fun and the experience from PvP.
    • Getting PvP to the PvE servers in the sense that it is consensual is something Funcom are looking in to. "This can be achieved through both the border kingdoms and some sort of flagging mechanic. Both offer consensual PvP which is of course what we need for this, and most importantly neither need guards"  and the best words heard just today too from FC are  "Maybe if progression is more efficient in a designated area it will minimize this without having complex systems that might be exploitable." Their thought and implementation is pretty good in this area.
    • Guard AI has changed, they check who initiated the fight, issues with splash dmg needs to be worked on still. There is a good post here from quite a bit can be crossed off if you have access to the test server.

Hope you can see some Bad, some Good and some things to come in the above. When people say nothing has been done when it has it is wrong. Lots of the more important things take a longer process to be done right. There is lots of evidence on the test servers for this. When we have people linking all the frustrated people posting and not what is going on behind the scenes this gives the wrong and different impression to what is going on. I think this is done on purpose here by a few guys. Needless to say there are more things to add to this list, but the wall of text damage is unbalanced ;)

What do you like about this game that is unique to it?

Could someone give me some examples of why they play?  What they find attractive to them about it?

Most people just explain how much fun they're having and don't really explain to me what they're doing to have said fun..

I gave the game a shot a while back, it wasn't bad, it wasn't too great....

Its play control is on par with WoW's in that it seems very fluid and easy to move about.  I feel like i'm really in control of the character which is rare in most online games.

I enjoyed the graphics it has but that doesn't really make or break a game for me...

You sir are suffering the side effects of good memory syndrome. In truth the game is now completely different. The servers are packed, PVP is meaningful, end game a blessing and instancing was abolished three patches ago.

Please elaborate?  When I left they were going to start offering item rewards for PvP. And have a consequence system. Just curious how the gear gap is in AoC PvP. Consequence system seems to deter PvP rather than encourage it. /shrug

Where is the free winback trial for vets?  I kinda see that as the litmus test for FC thinking the game is ready for primetime.

Craig in his latest interview said to expect it soon.

    based on one other game?

and i agree, it should happen soon and most likely will....possibly they are going to wait for 1.06 patch to hit....by then they should have the class balancing close to where they want it, and 1.06 add more endgame raid and guild content...

My point is still valid. They're not offering it now. Therefore, they don't think the game can win back vets yet.

Also coming from FC, announcements of future events don't mean much. When it happens. It happens. I'll try it.

There is a free trial and for me it did win me back (www.ageofconan.com/trial/).  I was like everyone else, i played AOC and was all excited when it first came out.  Played it for maybe a month and quit.  Now that DX10 is working, and the new patch was just released the game is much much better and I will probably be playing AOC all summer.   Funcom just released the game too early, that was the problem.

AoC is no doubt a fun game to play for a short while, the combo system is unique to any other games i know of.

However once u hit lvl 80 everything seems to become a grind, theres no meaningful and fun pvp system ( playing the same old minigames is not fun , neither is khes or sieges they get old fast) . Raiding is a bore, and with 12 classes your chances of a specific drop each run is not so great, so you'd prolly have to do many runs to get what you want .

Worst of all mr craig seems to be concentrating on the "RPG" aspect of the game making changes to item stats and character stats, sure they throw in a instance or two , and tarantia commons recently but that doesnt do much for the dire need of fun endgame.

Hopefully the new expansion will change that, because right now its not much fun after you hit lvl 80, and that is why i think they slowly bled subscribers.

As a CE owner I've done several trials over the months using buddy keys. Firstly. I'm sick of doing tortage. Nothing is going to kill a winback for me quicker than being forced to run the mandatory 20 level tutorial that is tortage, again.  Especially since I know that the tortage experience is not indicative of the rest of (the real game)  the game. Unless I can hop back into my old char and see whats changed since I left its not worth trying again. Cause the free trial starting from level 1 won't show me what's been addressed.

As I've said, FC knows there are hundreds of thousands of people out there who've already paid for the client and I'm sure they'd love to get them paying sub fees. The fact that FC isn't offering those people a chance to come back and see what's what indicates to me, the game isn't where is should be, regardless of improvements made.
