I don't care how many messages they post on the homepage on the topic of selling in game items; they will always be there. What next, making smoking illegal?
But coming from NCSoft's Lineage ][ who, I think, liked the idea of people spending money for in-game items, am happy that the company actually post a warning. However, also coming from Diablo II, have seen BLizzard not care about hacks even after they said they would. I mean, 15 Eth BOTDs? C'mon, they couldn't ALL be legit.

Nice lipservice to something they know they will never be able to stop. NO GAME COMPANY APPROVES OF IT. That's why they put big paragraphs on it into their terms of usage.
Blizzard shut down IGE et. al LMFAO that's the funniest thing I've seen posted in a long time.
They can stop most of the sploiters, they can ban the speedhackers, they can ban most of the botters too, but this one is just lipservice. They're going public with it, very little if anything will be done. The only way for them to catch people is to set up fake auctions and try to sell stuff to people, or to pretend to be a buyer and buy it from you. I suppose you guys think they are going to hire a team of people to do this, or take time out of someone else's schedule to have them do this, which would be legally questionable behavior?
Right.
The ethical debate of selling online items has been around for ages, and it will continue as long as there are online games. The sites selling items and people buying and auctioning stuff online aren't going away, either. Apparently EQ1 auctions had the 7th largest GDP last year or something? I can't remember where I read that, but if WoW has 400,000 players, you can expect them to have a similar market.

Originally posted by Lill-Troll The most common thing to farm and sell over E-bay is Gold, and that will destroy the in-game economy unless it's kept in check. Personally I think Blizzard should hire assassins, track down and kill all the bastards selling in-game items and currency. Those people selling are lowlifes that deserve nothing more than pain and scourn._______________________________________________________________________________ "Flamers, beware! when you leave this earth, there is a very special place reserved for you down below with romantic bonefires scourching you bones!""I have no prejudices, I hate everyone equally regardless of race or religion""Been there, done that!"
Those lowlifes are making some nice pocket money on things like these, from the 14 year old that occasionally sells his shit to ige.com, to the people that actually make more money then someone that works full time from playing and having fun in a game. To be honest, I'd rather be called a low life by some guy named Lill-Troll I don't even know and make good money for having fun then gain the respect of someone you won't even meet. Ever.
That said, I've never sold anything in WoW or EQ2 or something, but I really couldn't care less if other people do it. They make money for having fun, hey, more power to them.

Yay, someone mentioned me Seriously, the peopel that sell an occasional amount of in-game currency I don't mind that much, and they wont affect the economy that badly. It's the ones that get an account for the sole purpose of harvesting in-game resources to "make a living" of it I hate. And I think that if Blizzard makes a serious attempt, and cooperate with E-bay on it, they may well be able to stop at least E-bay auctions.
"Companys" that unjustly strive to make money of WoW, or other MMORPG's, (At least those based in US) might stand a good chance of beeing shut down if the Game Companys make lawsuits against them.

people should get sued from selling characters on ebay, for 2 reasons
1.its in the flipping rules... yep, that discalimer that everyone just scrolls right through and clicks agree, yep its in there
2. it ruins the game. bots ruin the community, and for those who are unaware, this is an MMORPG, massive MULTIPLAYER online role playing game..meaning, its a game where ur supposed to actually interact with other people. Tell the truth if they wanna sell anything they want to on ebay then go ahead i dont care but when they use bots and ruin my fun of the game... then sue there bums until they are broke
p.s. sry if spelling is bad just jamming this in between studying haha i cant stand world history!!!
