Free WoW Servers...is that possible at all?!

in World of Warcraft

I know that very big part of us would say NO, shut up, this is stuped, but i think that this is a HUGE problem of the great games such as WoW.I`m very interested in Free Servers, because i get sick of the Lineage 2 server, but when i played for free i really loved this game (there was some corrections in it).So i wonder is it possible to have a FREE server,cause a friend told me that all quest,items and blah blah blah are downloading from the Blizzard Server real time, and it is impossible to play it in a free server, cause it`ll cost too many resources...

So..what have you heard about this ??

    As far as I know it's not possible. You either go play on the official servers, or you don't play at all.

    Only thing i found related to this is from the WoW FAQ:

     

    Will players be able to host small (8 players max), temporary servers on their own machine?


    We do not allow players to run their own servers for World of Warcraft. A massively multiplayer online role-playing game demands a high level of server security and a well-connected community to flourish and evolve. We are focusing all of our networking efforts on creating such an environment.

    A lot of the stuff is server side, n Blizz will most likely NOT release for this reason, less ppl paying the monthly fee. Anyone who releases their server side data is jus asking for a HUGE loss of profits :S Huge loss of profits = less improving on the game, so.. Either p2p or bugger off^^

    There was one in beta, but it sucked hard, not even 10% of content, etc.

    It IS possible, but very long, hard, and troublesome.

    well.... I wont post links but ......... lets just say there may (Ahem) or may not be people with cracked/stolen server software out there.... but what the hell they are going to run that software on for free beats me ..... having played in the open beta, I can only asume those blizzard servers are some big beasties.

    It's possible if someone steals the server software. Or you can make your own. But that will mean making something from scratch. It wont be the same wow. And who wants to work for free and make server software ::::01:: It's cheaper to just pay the montly fee.

    Well see it like this, you play on the up to date Blizzard servers. Would'nt you like that? The money that you pay into Blizzard and every mmorpg provider that is, this money get puts into server-work and free updates ::::20::
