Really interested about Aion, but...

So, after i did quit WoW (somewhere around early season 3 (EU) in TBC) i've tried many other games, WAR, AoC, Tabula Rasa, Eve, LotRO, GW etc. but they all were missing that something to keep me playing like WoW had for over 3 years. I've watched many videos in youtube read alot of stuff and this game looks really interesting. However...

1. I'm not sure how PC heavy to game is, ie. is it more like guild wars where the graphics look good but does not require a monster PC for it. Currently i got AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+, NVidia Geforce 7650GS(256mt) with 2GB DDR2(i guess), will i be able to play with "ok" look and fairly good FPS with that PC? Or do i have to play with minium settings (A new pc isn't an option any time soon)

2. Pre-order beta event access, is what it says, i guess, for beta events only? Or is the beta done in only in events instead of full time playing for beta testers?

3. Early start, how much early exactly it is? est.rel listed here is little over 2 months from today.

#1 is the main thing, as i would really like to pre-order as the game looks nice, but i'm not sure if my PC can handle the game without making it look like doom 3d.

TIA

    1. you should be fine with that PC, I have similar setup, but 4 gigs of ddr2.

    2. Every two weeks, people who have beta keys or have preordered the game, receive access to the beta events which are held every two weeks.  Pre ordering allows you to participate in each beta event.  The beta events normally are on weeks for 3-4 days.

    3.  I heard the early start for pre ordering is 48 hours.

    4. It looks like a graphically great game, but is designed to play on lesser machines.  Pre order for 5bucks at a gamestop or ebgames, try out the beta, if it doesnt work out, only 5 bucks down.

1.For the most part, I think the game will run OK on your system using medium-low'ish settings - in raids and large scale PvP I can forsee issues, however. Consider upgrading if you want a better experience, I think you could upgrade quite significantly on a low budget.

2.Yes the Beta is not constant, but events every few weeks.

    3. The headstart, as far as I'm aware, is 5 days in the EU and 2 in the US.

    1. I have an AMD 64 3000+ , 7600 GS and 2 Gb Ram and I can play AION on Max Settings. On the field I get around 50+ FPS and in crowded Towns around 20 Fps. [ if you hit shift+f12 you can make all other PCs vanish and only their name stays which increases the fps even more]

    2. There are only Weekend Beta Events which are more Preview Events and testing of the Localisation. The game Launches on Sept 22 for NA and Sept. 25 for EU.

    3. 2 Days if I`m not mistaken and your allowed to reserve your Name and Server.

    Hope this helps.

    Ok thanks all!

I guess pre-oder it is, after all, it's just money and i can't have any of it with me when it all ends ;)

My gaming comp is a bit aged now... built it over a year ago. Dual 8800's. I was suprised how well it ran Aion, consistently over 100fps with the graphics maxed. Usually beta games have issues in this area (im looking at you AoC!). But I guess it really isnt new. Anyway its not all that computer intensive.

From the beta content and how my computer runs it.  I would say a gaming computer no more than 2 years old can run it at highest setting without much drawback other than huge crowds.

My computer is 5 years old with changed graphics card and upgraded ram several times.  It runs it smooth when not so many people are around.  Howeverin town it does graphic lag sometimes cuz I set it at highest setting.

The idea is that you don't need a monster PC to run Aion, but monster PC and run it smoother at full setting is all.  As long as your computer is not totally out of date, you are most likely ok.  (Assuming it is a gaming PC with actual decent graphic card and ram)

I remember GW had beta events like this before it released. Good times
