Comic Con

well, Comic Con is approaching and SE will be there.  Any idea on if they'll be talking about FFXIV? I'm hoping they'll reveal some tentative release dates be it for the beta or the final game because as of now, we are getting almost no info for a game that's supposedly coming out next year.

With little info maybe the game won't recieve too much baseless hype... most of the hype forit right now is based on the fact that it is SE and Final Fantasy...something it can live up to... add a bunch of teaser aspects of the game and you could get off the handle expectations that won't be met...

I hope comicon is bigger than E3 this year. I'm really looking forward to the newly released MMOs.

SE like most japanese game companies like to keep their projects on the very very very down low. There is a major difference in keeping everything quiet vs. spewing all these teaser videos and telling us about all of these new next gen features while not actually showing us.

SE kept this game quiet for 5 years, well they just said they were working on a new MMO but other than that there was zero info. They will reveal their core game mechanics when they are ready, If you think SE is pulling the wool over its fan eyes by keeping it quiet, dont buy the game at launch.  I honestly dont blame you for thinking something is maybe wrong especially with whats been done to all MMO fans in the recent past.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

Not this year, I was at ign.com and didn't see any updates for FFXIV, but they will be at August's GamesCon this year.

I think it's Vanafest (Feb 28th)  that should be watched for FFXIV info, and thats only a little off now :)

As for the keeping it on the quiet for some negative reason, well... nah. I have no doubt that plenty of info will be available in time to make an informed decision whether to buy or not.

Some games need to release tons of info in order to maintain a hype level. SE know the FF franchise just isnt one of those, and anyhow... who wants to deal with the ever angry, easy to confuse, and easy to offend mmorpg audience with giving info you may have to change in beta.

Sometimes saying nothing until you know for sure is the best. It's all about clarity of info I guess.
