    I kept repeating the same reply to so many people :)

    In short, if you want an easier to play MMORPG where you aren't punished for dying and a well balance class system.  Go for WoW.

    EQ2 is harder than WoW cause when you die, there's XP debt to pay off which sucks when you end up dying more than twice.

    But a huge factor that I like WoW more than EQ2 is cause there is barely any loading time.  In EQ2 you'll find yourself with a loading screen every minute just to get from one place to another.

    And if you're looking for a game that will remain balanced and less frustration, who will you really trust?  Blizzard or Sony Online Entertainment?  I've lost my faith in SOE cause of Star Wars Galaxies, so I had a hard time trying to trust SOE for EQ2.

    And so far Blizzard has been banning people using bots and exploits.  SOE doesn't seem to care about bots all that much though.

    I personally prefer WoW to EQ2 having played them both. But you can find all the reasons why one is supposedly better than the other on these forums, other sites and reviews..

    I recommend you try both and decide which you personally prefer. They've both got merits.

    I posted in one of these threads earlier today...

    Basicly it's like this:
    WoW is fast Eq2 is slow.
    WoW is easy Eq2 is complicated.
    WoW has pvp Eq2 does not.
    WoW = Blizzard Eq2 = SoE

    You figure it out ::::02::

    SOE.  Do you need any other reason to choose WoW?

    Play them both, then stick with the one you like most.

    Good luck with whichever one you prefer.

    I honestly dont think there is much of a comparison since EQ2 has so many more design flaws.  From its replayability(alts) to its vendor system to its combat system to its character building/customization, or even just variety of things to do, it just doesnt compare with WoW.  I wish it did because i'd love to have kept both of my accounts, but EQ2 is really disappointing once you realize how many design flaws it has, its just a very linear world imo in how you progress, especially compared to EQ1, while everything else seems to be dumbed down from EQ1 but the graphics.

    again, i'd be happy to argue the merits of the mechanics in both with anyone who disagrees, since i know i can point out alot more flaws in the way EQ2 was designed than anyone could with WoW.  I also truly believe EQ2 has a better initial fun factor but it quickly changes at the lvl 15-20 mark when you realize what you think was complex is actually very simple and straight forward(like the HO system).  While i'd say WoW isnt initially much fun because you dont see the depth until later.

    Give it a few months, and i bet the subscription numbers for WoW will dwarf the numbers for EQ2....

    WOW is better then EQ2 in every way.  WOW is simply the much superior game, end of discussion.  Sorry EQ2 fanboys but WOW is better, you'll get used to it eventually, but the debate on WOW vs. EQ2 is officially over and WOW is the undeniable winner.  There is no reason to ever play EQ2 unless you have absolutely no taste in games and you like endless pointless grinding and overly complicated crafting.

    Just to restate my point in case some people out there haven't figured this out yet. WOW is better then EQ2, there is no maybe perhaps but or whatever, it is, pure and simple.

    I'd just like to ask for people to try to make points to support what your saying(which should be easy to do for WOW imo) so this thread doesnt get locked and turned into just a 'WoW/EQ2 is better because i said so' thread.  Trust me, when it comes to discussing/comparing the games many different fascets, it should be an easy argument :)

    i dont agree with some of the things in that review, but i do have to defend them abit with the graphics.  WoW may be cartoony, but it does cartoon better than any game i've played.  EQ2 definitely has good graphics, great when it comes to water, and i prefer the real look more, but its at least arguable on which is better.  i do admit i was abit surprised they chose WoW on that.

    There are points they made i dont agree with, and overall i thought it was a really poorly argued feature.

    Having played both games, I have to agree that WoW has a better graphic experience. EQ2 is dark and washed out...play at night in the rain in Commonlands, you can't see a damned thing. WoW has vibrant colors and a real dichotamy of landscapes that are compelling and interesting.

    This isn't a measure simply of polygon counts. EQ2 has some spectactular character models, but overall since aesthetics are experiential and not theoretical you have to go with what you observe and feel.

    The one thing that EQ2 does especially better than WoW is immersion. The voice-overs provide an unparalleled level of immersion which was surprising to me. Say whatever you will about how you feel about them (especially after hearing them a few dozen times), but they are very good.

    I have a lot more to say about the two games, but I'm only in my first week of WoW and I'm going to wait until the end of my first month so I can do a side-by-side comparison after spending the same amount of time in both.
