Is tanking as bad in other games as it is in EQ2?

Are games like WOW and Vanguard as much of a pain in the butt to tank in as EQ2? My toon is a lvl 80 Berzerker with T2 shard armor, his fabled weapon and a handful of master spells and I cant hold aggro well at all. Its at the point now where I really dont want to bother tanking in this game unless I have several hate buffs on me. While I like to tank Im considering a change now and interested in these other fantasy based games.

Cheers

tanking in eq2 is kinda broken.  Taunts and stuff are not as effective as just dps.  So to tank well you need to be in dps mode.

I'm not sure about wow but in vanguard tanking is a bit better balanced in that in defensive mod your taunts are increased in effectiveness vs other modes.  you can still loose agro but I think there is a better balance of tools and abilities in vanguard.

I tanked in WoW in regular instances (Lvl 70-74) and found it pretty easy to hold aggro as Bear Druid... Idk about the higher up stuff though.

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

I had a lvl 80 paladin tank in WoW, and I only ever lost agro if I was dumb and let my agro buffs run out. I was tanking some of the endgame raids when i quit so I would say that the problem doesn't exist there.

Group makeup will play a large part in how well you can hold aggro, as will your personal DPS.  Taunts are worthless and most end-game raiders don't even use them.  Dirges, Coercers, Swashbucklers, Assassins, and Wardens should be your top class choices when forming a group.  Of course you don't need, or want, your group consisting of just those classes (usually).  But you will want at least 2 of them.

Tanking in WoW is enjoyable. It's a mix of strategy, button mashing and general fun. It's a bit more difficult than some of the other roles are *cough*DPS/healers*cough* and you'll get flak if you do it badly, but good tanks are alvays heavily in demand.

I was a complete arsehole, but since I was one of the better tanks on the server ( and, by that, I mean I gave 100% every run, fully fooded, buffed and scrolled, along with just generally being a decent player ) I managed to get groups ALL the time.
