Hey Everyone,

I am not trying to start a troll nest thread, troll army or troll anything else. I have read countless threads about how bad or good Aion is. Mostly I have read people posting about their negative experiance with Aion. Now I understand everyone is different, in essence we all look for different things in games.

I find a few things wrong with Aion, none of them are even close to game breaking. I am more curious to see which of you have the issues, what they are, and to discuss them like reasonable adults here. Tell me what is so game-breaking about Aion that you feel the game isnt worth playing, or even trying.

My issues with Aion:

1) not a fan of being charged Kinah to bind to new locations. If I forget and die, its going to cost me even more especially at lower levels to fly back and then bind.

2) Would be nice if there was a transporter at every location that at a flight NPC, because its annoying going from a town with a flight NPC to another bigger town just to use a teleported to get to the capital.

3) At least in the beta's alot of people werent interested in grouping, im sure this is only a curse of the lower levels and will change drastically as I get higher.

There are probably other things I wont be a big fan of, but for me these are small nit-picking issues, the game at its whole is perfect for my playstyle. So what say you guys/gals?

*NOTE* Try to stay on topic during the discussions, as I want no arguements going back and forth. Everyone here has a valued opinion that is worth reading/listening to. Please avoid using stereotypes/game bashing/profanity and other obvious trollable offenses. Thanks!

EDIT: i changed the tittle because people were complaining that I had "official" in the topic. I honestly dont see the issue here, but whatever. Fixed.

Well Aion for me has been a breath of fresh air in a room of foul, bad game stench. I have my qualms with it like everyone else. But mine, like yours are not game breakers. And indeed many of them are rectified in the 1.1-1.5 patch notes.

    But here goes.

    1. The game is not out yet, this coupled with the knowledge that many an Asian are enjoying it, reminds of my dearly departed Hellgate London, which is also currently being enjoyed in Asia, and which I, a UK gamer currently in the US for school am unable to play. This is of course minor since I am betaing the localization.

    2. Eye color unchangeable currently in beta, leaves me all too often able to "almost" create the character I want. Rectified in a patch.

    3. Some quests in beta were nigh impossible to finish due to in faction gankers camping the quest NPC, I speak particularly of the "I want Power" Asmodae quest in PAndemonium that makes you go into the arena. There were like 10 lvl 20 characters camping the NPC slaughtering lvl 10-12s doing the quest. This is more likely to be fixed at launch with the adding of the pvp minigames and such.

That pretty much sums up my tiny issues list.

To answer your last one, post 17 you will need to group for a good majority of major quests.

    Alexis

For as artistic as the game is there are far too many weapons that look like the weapon from five levels ago.  While I understand there is a customization option for weapons it still doesn't negate the fact there are so few designs.

From what I have seen the item design works the same as WAR's did.  You get a new design each "tier" but are stuck with the same look until you find something rare or advance to the next tier.

    1) Western character creation and armor:

Response: I honestly dont think this will be changed, seeing as this is NCsoft and the armor decorations and characters are more of an animeish background.

    2) Kung Fu grunts:

Response: I can understand they can def get annoying for those who are not used to it. In fact I wasnt used to grunts until I played AOC and LOTRO (Barbarian/Captain ring any bells?). I am not 100% on this but I think one of the patches introduces an option in the menu to turn this off.

    3) Upgrades for gathering and crafting:

Response: I honestly cant answer this question, I tend to stray away from crafting because I am more of a adventure oriented player. However my brother in law loves crafting and is really enjoying the crafting system. Can you elaborate a little more about what you posted Elsabolts? Im sure Stayontarget or Ephimero could elaborate more, or perhaps other players with more extensive knowledge on the crafting system.

If I remember right the grunts are getting an English cast and will also have a toggle option.

Why not do what SOE did for EQ2 and its Korean release, make local chars and whatnot, SOGA they called em, ugly as sin but must have been popular the other side of the puddle.

That isnt one of my gripes at this point because im still not past lvl 16, however I would hope they add more designs as the game progresses. I am very happy with the new higher level sets that they have added, however I hope they continue to put more content into the body of the game as well as the end game content.

IF you read my post history, you can probably tell I'm bias and I love Aion...that said.

The things that "peeve" me as it were, are the background textures when seen close up. They are blurry. Yes, it helps reduce lag and improve performance for large scale battles and things, and you don't even notice the blurriness when faraway, but it still bugs me.

One other thing, for the LOVE of Carpenter on a stick, PLEASE don't let them replace ALL the voices with english western ones, it would without a doubt, suck. At least give us the option to choose which language to speak, like the Korean defaults.

Other than that, this game needs a harder leveling curve, similar to Lineage 2, but not as tough, because as it is now, its too easy.

To my knowledge, I think they added flight restrictions on some zones, to help prevent players from by-passing quests. Just to use WoW as a reference here, In WOTLK once my warlock hit 78 I could use my flying mount...well at 280% flying speed, I finished my quests by by-passing a majority of the content. I landed in secluded areas where I could hop down and kill named mobs without fighting to get to them.

I have been only at 16 with my glad, but the glide only zones as I call them, are still not prohibiting much. SInce you only have 58 seconds of flight time at lvl 10, its much better to abuse the glide function then it is to acctually fly around. I found myself gliding in the no-fly zone over large distances. So Thats my 2 cents.

I don't understand Korean, so unless you mean that they use Korean voices speaking English ((better be some Koreans well versed in English or......well lets just say it'll be funny)) I would prefer they use english actors.........

"Herro, How may I Herp Rou?"

Don't know how many times I can hear that without dying from laughter......and that was definitly just an opinion that emerged from the FFXI translator and its problem with Rs

I mean the voice acting when they cast spells or skills, not for cut-scenes, those can be in english.

But everytime I cast a spell, I don't want to hear some white girl shouting fireball!   I'll just piss myself laughing... :)

I was dissapointed I couldn't swim, I got over it pretty quickly, I would like for them to add it but if not, no biggie.  My Huband and I made a bit of game of seeing which bodies of water we could get across without dying.

Bumping into invisble walls whilst flying, not sure how you could change that, perhaps turn glide on automatically instead? I have no problem with the flight mechanic as is I like the idea of it improving over time.  Besides when I'm chasing down that flea riddled Asmodian I want to know he can't run forever.

Kill-stealing is probabaly the one thing that really bugs me. I hope that it will sort itself out, being a RvR game guilds will need other guilds and people will need to maintain a decent reputation or risk being ostracized.

I'd like to be able to participate in pvp earlier.

    1. The linear zones from 1-20 although it does get better 20+

    2. World textures are lacking in some areas..but Aion is a mass PVP game and I understand why they had to skimp on some textures.

3.The ability to make your character extremely tiny when you create it...I just think it looks retarded as all hell.

[EDIT] 4. Swimming we should have it...maybe in a later patch I hope.

Other than that I love Aion and enjoyed playing in China's OB.

Well i have this list of things I dislike in Aion:

    1. Far too much running. Too few teleports, the distance between them is too big.
    2. The armor for low level is boring and almost colorless.
    3. The characters, landscape and buildings look realistic, but many mobs and npc's look like they have escaped from Disney Land.
    4. My ranger was not always able to turn around and shoot at target behind.
    5. The crafting is boring. They could have made it more fun with like adding more crafting quests
    6. At level 14 i only had higher level quests too do. So the choice is: do hard quests or grind to next level.
    7. No support for Add-on's like in WoW or Runes of Magic. The devs are arrogant if they think they have made the perfect user interface.
    8. The effects in combat i have seen from higher level are far too exaggerated. Hard to see whats actually going on in the fight.
    9. The weapon size also get too exaggerated and flashing. With the new weapons you look like a small lighthouse. Seems the only way for them to make weapons more cool is make them larger and more flashing. Please take a look at picture. How larger and how flashy will they make the next sword that has higher level than this ?.

The game is fun and worth playing, but for me it dont have that extra joy that makes it worth paying for compared to many f2p mmo's.

    1) Camera control in the beta isn't all that great. Funny enough though as one of my gripes about the game it got fixed in one of the patches that will be in the western launch.

    2) Slight delay between hitting the auto run key and actually auto running. I got used to it after a little bit but it could be a lot more responsive. I don't know if this was fixed at all in any patch.

    3) PvP content at lower levels could be cool. I don't think it's a big deal though, 1-20 or so is pretty quick to do.

That's what I can think of.

    What makes this thread "Official"?

Why do people insist on using the word "Official" for threads that they want to get people's attention with?

Are you a member of the Aion developement team? Nope, I doubht it. So what makes you (the original poster) official?

    Please explain that

I used the word "official" to make the tittle of the thread more interesting only, I am not officially with the Aion development team. I want to get everyones issues in 1 thread as opposed to 50 everyday. It makes it easier to go to one spot if you follow.

Given that, if your read my OP please feel free to comment, on issues you may have with Aion.

    Thank you,

    • I agree to an extent here, I want more teleports as well.

          2. The armor for low level is boring and almost colorless.

    • I really dont think armor needs to be epic at low levels, but this is a matter of opin

    3. The characters, landscape and buildings look realistic, but many mobs and npc's look like they have escaped from   Disney Land.

    4. My ranger was not always able to turn around and shoot at target behind.

    • My ranger is level 11, and I was able to click an ability, and he auto-faced the mob. Can you elaborate here please?

    5. The crafting is boring. They could have made it more fun with like adding more crafting quests

    • I cannot comment on this part of the game, as I do not have any experiance with crafting.

    6. At level 14 i only had higher level quests too do. So the choice is: do hard quests or grind to next level.

    • 100% agree here, there are some gaps in the gameplay in regards to quests, from my understanding the 1.5 patch has already dealt with this issue, by increasing exp from certain quests and adding more content.

    7. No support for Add-on's like in WoW or Runes of Magic. The devs are arrogant if they think they have made the perfect user interface.

    • This is personal opinion ofcourse. I do not want another spam of dps charts during a instance or raid in Aion. I am happy that add-ons are not allowed. For me when you use an Add-on it feels that you are using a type of game-genie if you will. WOW was a great example of how terribly wrong the game can get when too many add-ons with no restrictions are allowed. Dont get me wrong some are GREAT, like I <3 quest helper and a few others. For Aion, I dont think as of right now they are required.

    8. The effects in combat i have seen from higher level are far too exaggerated. Hard to see whats actually going on in the fight.

    • Yeah, some can be very color-crazy. I think but not 100% sure there is an option to reduce the particles from abilites if you dont like the over-the-top animations. I know ill reduce mine a little for pvp purposes probably.

    9. The weapon size also get too exaggerated and flashing. With the new weapons you look like a small lighthouse. Seems the only way for them to make weapons more cool is make them larger and more flashing. Please take a look at picture. How larger and how flashy will they make the next sword that has higher level than this ?.

    • Well, other games as well make their armor/weapons very flashy. The way I see it, is that this will laregely play to your taste. If you dont like large flashy weapons you may want to re-consider Aion. However There are weapons in the game that are not flashy, and you can transfer the not so flashy item skin to a high level flashy item skin.

    Hope that helepd.
