Is the framerate good? And how does the game feel, is it and endless grind or are there fun things ahead? Anything that you could tell me that isent on the website would be helpful. Thanks....not shure if im going to buy it.

    1. It rocks - buy it.
    2. It sucks more than anything it's trash. Get WoW instead.

I'd highly recommend EQ2 if you want an all around fun game. Oh, and play on the Befallen server - alot of us here on these forums do ::::20::

Its ok but in the world of mmos its the heavy weight imo. Its good and well  filled so far ,with well thought out (in places) classes. Spells and combat arts are interesting and help eliminate some of the usual auto attack system most mmos have.

But its a bit bland graphically and everywhere seems very samey. It can get a little tedious at time and yet it can be tremendous fun at times.

I played beta for ages but now play WoW.My wife plays EQ2 and i sometimes play an alt when shes not playing . Both are interesting and very  diffrent really.

WoW is less demanding on the machine and player imo.But thats no to say its any better :)

Actually, if a game has an aspect I don't like I'll point that out.  EQ2 is just a good fun game.

Frame rates are only bad sometimes when someone is trying to call me.  I have a dial up modem.  Other than that, loading times are fast.  I have enough ram...more than 512.  And its just a good game.

I don't think it's fun. It's more oriented toward the grinding game, making it a tough race to the top. I can see ppl here saying it's a fun game, yet, they don't have any example to give. Look at this quote.

It look the same everywhere? It's a bit tedious? It can be tremendous fun? How? When? Where?

When you get a good group? A good guild? To me this is just socialization, and it's not really dependant on the game.

I played 3-4 days in the beta, until I got my mage to level 9. Past the Refuge Island, and the Citizen Quest, my interest got away very fast. I found it not fun to solo (solo mobs are at the begining of zones, so to explore a bit, you need a group). I did not like the quests either (kill X mobs, I give you a few coppers, bring this tool to Y, I'll give you a few coppers, etc.)

I tried to explore a bit, out in antonica. Got on a griffy ride. The animation of the griffon was very poorly done. I was disapointed. As I was discovering the landscape, I did not saw anything special. The EQ2 engine does not help on this point. Things keeps poping up in the distance, I believe it is still as badly coded as EQ1 was. The experience is not cool, I'd say.

At the end of the ride, there was a tower. I went up there to see if there was something cool. Once inside, I felt like it was the exact same design as the one on the Refuge Island (newbie zone). I logged out there, and for good.

I'd say, if you have played other MMORPG so far, this one is far from the best. I think FFXI is better. But then, the king of the hill would be WoW. Believe the hype.

This is why you don't make reviews when you only played 3-4 days of beta.

    - They added more solo mobs.

    - You only played to level 9, how could you know what the quests are like? You said you did the citizen quest, and that certainly wasn't a "kill X, get Y" quest.

    - They fixed the griffy ride.

And about the last point, about mobs popping up in the distance... WoW is 10 times worse than EQ2. Maybe you didn't set how far you could see mobs in EQ2, but you can set it pretty damn far out. In WoW, while on the griffy ride, you can see mobs for about half a second when they are right under you, and then they disappear again(and yes I have the settings maxed out).

As long as you are willing to make sacrifices in visual quality I think it will run nicely on most systems. I play on a less than one year old machine and can play in Balanced (which looks great) mode with 20-30 fps most of the time (in outdoor environments, city zones are worse).

If you have played any MMORPG you probably know what to expect. EQ2 takes most of what has been successful before and throws in a few new features. The introduction game, up to level 10 is great fun. The encounter system is really great. Most classes are balanced in a group and group gamepley is good. My complaints are, if you fancy yourself a solo player it can be difficult at mid-rangelevels (the number of solo mobs in Nekt. and TS are easy counted and fairly unexiting). Instancing has its advantages and disadvantages, unfortunately it has some bugs too.
I think it was the Gamespot review that said: "if you are already playing another MMORPG and if you are happy with it, EQ2 is not worth leaving it for."
It's up to you really what kind of MMO gamer you are. It's a good game but not unique and not to everyones liking.

    Add:
I don't tradeskill that much, but I guess that system is good too.

Actually, I'm in the middle.  For me (and alot of others) there's a tremendous different in frame rate when you are in town and when you are out of town.  It's so bad, it's worth changing your video performance level when entering town.

Outside of town though, I have no issues with frame rate.

First for the Quests: Hm I don't know but can you please tell me a MMorpg which has very innovative quests??? To me it seems in all games Quests tend to go to either kill X mob or bring Y Item...
The good thing about EQ2 is, that there are a vast amount of quests! You not only get quests from npcs, but from Items too, you can find some boots which needs to be repaired in someway or other until you completed them and get it, to equip. There are mastery quests where you can gain special spells etc. against certain monster ...

Hm I have explored now many locations in EQ2 and have found tons of interesting places or strange writings etc. etc. etc.
But I agree at the moment its very difficult to survive while exploring solo, and there are far to less solo mobs (they upped it a bit but it seems there still aren't real challenging solo encounters (either the mob is so easy its boring, or the mob is so difficult you'll die before you even cast you first spell, theres nothing in between)

Framerate, its very difficult to say I think, I change my options often on the go, In cities its mostly bad, in zones like Thundering Steppes or Antonica or Commonlands its mostly superb and I can put the setting up to good quality, in dungeons with group I put them down again, cause the spell effects and the group members drain quite some ressources and you have to be fast sometimes

Even If I don't think EQ2 is the King, nor do I think is WOW or any other mmorpg for that matter (at the moment) and no neither EQ2 nor WOW are nearly as good as the hype predicts

EQ2 is a grind, no doubt about it. I enjoy it though for the challenge, both in play, and in crafting, however this game imo is for the hardcore gamer.

I suggest you try and find a buddy code, and a friend who has the game, and give it a shot, make your own call. $50 is alot for most people to just take a chance on a game, yes even WoW.
