I Pre-ordered from Game Stop, created an account with NC Soft. Downloaded the launcher. Got a setup icon on my desktop. Started the launcher. The launcher started patching and created an Aion Icon on my desktop and a shortcut icon to the launcher on my desktop. So far, no problems.

But, the launcher is downloading like 5.4 gigabytes. Is it supposed to download that three times in a row?

The client is large with this one.

15Gb recommended free space. Let it patch for a couple hours (overnight depending on connection speed). If it's still patching by Wednesday then yes... You need to delete all temp files, make sure the launcher has Administrative Access and reinstall.

The official downloader/installer was moving at the pace of a sick sick snail for me. A buddy said it took him 2.5 days to download the game with it! I have a membership to fileplanet, downloaded super-fast there for me (about an hour).

Aion is only a little over 8Gb after installed (only lol). The reason it needs 15+ is that the downloaded file needs to extract out to the necessary directories. So for a time the game exists twice on your comp. Once as the downloaded file and then again as the Installed game. After the game is installed the downloaded file can be deleted.

I have 3 computers loading it. One is done, its an XP computer. The vista just seems to load and load and load; its on its fourth loading of the file. The third computer is XP but I didn't start that one up till last night. I think I'll know tonight whether its because I loaded the original setup file on the desktop or Vista, as being the problem. Not sure if its one of those two things, or something else. I don't think you need to give administrator access to it in Vista like you do for turning on Ventrillo.

I'm downloading at a rate of 705 Kbps ((I know the speed sucks but I live in Canada and we have crappy and expensive internet, this costing me 100 CAD a month and only being 7mbps)) So yeah, taking forever >.>

I think it only downloaded 6GB for me. But, Aion China was much smaller; weird.

Probably more exaggerated and flashy moves, with Tekken style animations >.< I kid, I kid........but not really...

Dam I wish...

NA / EU client is larger because it has more quests and content than the 1.1 or so China is using.

My second Windows XP computer finished easily. Took about 15 hours.

My Vista Computer, though, took forever; It took 3 solid days and loaded the game like 6 times. It finished this morning; last loading was 8 gigbytes.

So, all three computers did download it, eventually. I don't know why Vista computer took so long. I don't know why it loaded the game like 6 times.

But, it all downloaded. If you haven't started downloading by now, please note, it might be a few hours, as reported by some people, or it might take 90 hours.

Where did you find this out? Because I've played the chinese version and the english version and they're different.

If you open your Aion folder, there's a note in it labeled Version. If you open the note, it tells you the version is like 1.0.12

I played both and the seem the same to me.

The only difference I've seen was the launcher and the english translation (enu.pak)

Maybe same version, different build?

One of the largest differences is in the gathering. Angelica on the CN servers was digging in the mud. On the NA/EU servers the avatar seems to gather with their Jedi Powers. I've seen a few changes to the animations that led me to believe that we're running a different version. Guess I'm wrong though. Must be a build type or something.

Both those pics were taken from the Chinese client... the english does the same.

Wow, since they broke up the beta right at the Deva mark I just assumed it was changed with a patch lol.

All I knew was that one weekend I was digging, and the next I was using "the force".

Nie!!!

You get to play on select weekends when NCsoft favors you...........*see Aion Online site for beta event weekend schedule*

However you get one of these *flashes the shiny Beta card* If you order at Gamestop and can join "us" in our little stand alone complex...........that is right, I went there :P

((Stand alone complex because we are all working with the same motives - Aion fanboiism - but are not directly related in any way...think that fits the description doesn't it? And yes, its not a real thing :P))

Preorder people start 2 days earlier right? So does that mean we will need to download the patches up to 1.5 considering we wont have the patched up game DVD?
