i have played uo since the week it was released, and i dont know why you would ask why it is the worse game ever, just like any other game it appeals to a certain player base that is very loyal, i have played eq, swg, eq2, wow, and several others but always come back to uo. it has alot of problems but then again i find alot of those in every game i have played, play style will change as they listen to alot of their subscribers and the changes they make are not always going to be to everyone liking.
I have quit UO, because they made it too carebear/noob friendly. I could deal with all the changes up until they made it so you can insure everything for practically nothing. There is no more good loot on bodies when you kill them, so like every other MMO out there that I've seen, UO is pretty much just like everyone else...except you can PvP, and you can loot, but the opportunities for both are completley limited, so I quit.
Too bad there are no games out there that would have a real combat system like UO used to have back when it was a good game.
UO is the worst game ever? LOL you may want to reverse that. If it is the worst game ever then why is it at par with today's MMOGs? It still has a longer life than most MMOGs released today (not counting WoW of course). It's all in the name, the company's history, and the history (real-life) of the game. Look at UO which came from Ultima, and WoW which came from Warcraft.
Without a 'name' or an 'identity', you have a shorter life. But of course there are those who have proven themselves worthy, look at NCSoft alone. All their games are at par with UO and WoW.
majority of the people here played countless of MMOGs they wouldn't even remember them all if you ask them to list "all" of it.
we were into online gaming since what, back in BBSes days, then to PBeM, then to MUDs, then to MMORPGs, then to MMOGs, till now. It doesn't mean you played a lot of these games does it mean you are "rich" or "showing off". The fact that the title says "tell me why UO is the worst game ever" merits everyone to mention the games they already played and give their opinion as to why they think UO is the worst game ever.
I can pay for these games but why should I if I don't have time in my hands? I'd rather play these games for FREE. That's my line of work, game testing, game review, game analysis = local server. I am against local servers but I need to earn by my own sweat
UO used to be the best game, but now its just a clone of other games.
when uo came out you had a sense of adventure, and fear. every person you ran across had the chance of becoming your new mortal enemy. yeah some 7x GM (maxed out char) might come along and kill your newbie black smith, but thats when you wrote down the guys name and went looking for him later. i have never had a more pleasing experence then hunting down some one who pissed me off and taking their head for a momento, and every thing else that they had. any time you steped out of town you had to be on your toes. NOTHING gaming wise has compared to the rush you get when 10 red names come onto your screen, and the whole fight or flight instinct kicked in.
but then they changed it. they split the world in two. before you never knew if the guy asking for black pearl just needed one more to recall back to town, or if he was just checking for regs to know if its worth killing you. but then the fel/tram crap happened and you knew that you couldnt be attacked if you were in the right side. so this led to all the pointless crap talking and kill stealing that you couldnt do any thing about. it used to be a self policing problem. if some one talked crap, or stole your kill, you just killed them, but they made those people safe. then they started adding revamped magic items, with different resists and such like that, started to make the items a clone of EQ. before in UO if you died and lost all your items it was like "oh well that sucked, time to go back to the bank" the game was all about the action, not all about the loot. then they started adding "class" bs. i like the old tank mage, a mace fighting mage.
ahh, so many good things put to the curb side. i miss being afriad of people standing close to me, i miss being paranoid of every name that apears on my screen, and i miss the the random pking.
yes they did make one world to where pvp was open, and stealing was still there, but if your there you KNEW that every one else was either a pk, or a theif. there was no wondering. if your in a dungeon and 4 ppl show up, you know your about to get ganked. KNOWING is not as much fun as WONDERING.
but thats just my opinion. and please forgive any spelling/gramatical errors, im tired hehe.
the missing link in a chain of destruction.
All spelling and typographical errors are based soely on the fact that i just dont care. If you must point out my lack of atention to detail, please do it with a smile.
All I can say is that even with the 2D graphics its one if not the longest running mmorpg I know of, and I don't think there is to much wrong with it to keep the player base they have had as long as they have. Even with the player run shards.
Weird thread, or at least the title. Just played a bit UO (friend account) and I liked it (mining blacksmithing, choping trees etc. ) But I hate free for all pvp .
and 2) there was another topic made asking 'why UO is the best game ever' so this guy thought it would be witty to make a thread with an opposite topic. I thought it had died because it didnt get any posts and went farther and farther into the dead threads... oh well.

Neither do I o_0;;
It's like saying to someone "Tell me why the sky's brown?" because that would make as much sense...
UO is IMO (and many others) one of the, if not THE best MMORPG's ever made... it has almost everything a good MMORPG needs, and then some...
Useless topic

Best game ever! If you liked to gank n00bs and always get away.
Wortst game ever if you were normal like the rest of us.
This is an old topic, and he only made it because
1) hes a moron
and 2) there was another topic made asking 'why UO is the best game ever' so this guy thought it would be witty to make a thread with an opposite topic. I thought it had died because it didnt get any posts and went farther and farther into the dead threads... oh well.
Thanks for pointing that out Orcc. I sure didn;t catch it lol.
UO was supreme way back when. Most refer to it as the pre-UO:R days, but I refer to it as the pre-EA days.
