I played the game from launch daily with a completely open mind, but i was unable to bring myself to even want to log in after about two months. So im not going to listen to all the bullshit fanboi posts about how i never gave the game a chance.
What i do want to know though is if things have gotten any better since launch.
Things I couldnt stand about this game -
-lag. absolutely horrendous
-instancing. need i say more
-zoning. worst use of zoning I have seen in a game ever.
-inability to find players to play with. Im sorry, but if I play an MMO, i want to at least SEE other players on the most populated servers.
Is any of this shit fixed? Or is the game even progressing? Wondering if i should try that 14 day re eval...

this site blows for advice.. if its free for 14 days id say give it a go. i was playing aoc a few months ago.. it was pretty amazing for a first time go .. i just hate the melee in the game, and didnt have the time to devote to raiding and such.
but yeah, its free.. give it a shot, most of those things you will see are improved
well youll have to wait for the vet comeback trial to end to start a free trial. Since you played at launch you shoudl qualify...test it out yourself.
The zoning wont change in this game, your going to have to zone to another map, even if they fuilly impliment what they did between ot and ot commons ( you move toward a border between two maps and are promped if you want to enter the next area...instead of hitting up the wagon man). you still can choose normal or epic mobs, as far as i know, i have yet to see a map where i can switch instances on the fly...think thats changed.
lag on the 3 highest populated servers is fine, sometimes during peak hours ill hit a lag spike here and there, but nothing too bad.
inability to find other players is not an issue at all on the three populated servers, choose a oceanic or other server adn you may have issues with that.
do a little reserch on whats been done to the game since you left, it way too much to explain.
not like the game i thought it was
however if zoning is a huge deal for you, and you dont like instanced dungeons or raids...your still going to hate it, even if they tone down the zoning like they are testing out now.
try the vet comback trial, and choose wiccana pve, crimmeria rp-pvp, or tryanny pvp. all three have lots of players in all the maps...wiccana is the unofficial rp server, but its not in your face...crimmeria isnt really an rp server, just a pvp server with less rackless ganking than tyranny and a better community (arguably) and tyranny is the elite pvp server, lots of vets and lots of ganking and pvp xp farming.
The lag was fixed or so I thought anyway, after the latest patch spikes have been frequent. The rest of your complaints are more or less in regard to core game design. That really has remained the same, outside of the fact there are less instances compare dto launch simply because there are far fewer players playing today. Due to the number of people who A. are on a vet re-eval and B. won one of the few thousand free games given out. There are plenty of people on the servers right now given you pick one that is populated. Grouping should not be an issue right now.
Nothing personal, but you may receive a few more replies if you write a little less hostile . I was hesitant to reply I would not doubt others felt the same way. Just looked as if you were looking for a fight. IMO of course.

Well i played beta and im now back playing it again mainly because i won the contest so i have 30D to try. My very first impressions are that the game is about teh same as in beta. Some bugs were not fixed and new ones arrived :P
you enjoy to play for a couple weeks then no point on playing again. Thats my opinion tho im lil tired of those wow-like games anyway.
Lag - absolutely fine.
Instancing/zoning - the same.
Lack of players. Same.

my opinion (and I believe the general consensus) is the game is fine and now ready for release
It would be worth playing if there were people around to group with from 1-80. IMO the loneliness makes it unbearable. And that level 80 content is clearly lacking - which would have been okay (had they released in the shape it is now). Those who have made it already are without.
Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

Lag - definitely not seeing this.
Zoning - the same
Lack of players - this is not an issue since I am guilded. The LFG tool needs some work.
There are quite a few raids for folks atm. There are only a few 80 instances (group). The pvp is a grind for gear.
