The zone's from 1 to 20 are linear , and small , and there is no other places to level. This is bad if you like to make alt's or are trying to find a class you enjoy ,i dont think i could keep playing in the exact same follow the path zone over more than twice without it becoming mind numbing.
Actually if you went into audio options and turned the first SFX bar (from memory) down to 0 it would turn this off. I hated it myself but it was easy enough to figure it out.
One thing i'll never get is why we need an official problem thread about a game not even released. Why do people always focus on the negatives and not the positives. I guess i'm more a half cup full kinda guy.
I don't think Aion is perfect but the few minor quibbles i have with it aren't worth creating a thread about.
i tried turning all the sound sliders off to get rid of the annoying voices, the only one that seemed to work was turtning down the master volume, but then EVERYTHING goes away :P

One of the things I really enjoy recently is how easygoing and friendly the community is in WAR's T4, at least on my server... No raid dramas, no crap - we're all working together to beat the other side and there's no aggro if you fail - it's cool and lets have another go but better one this time.

In my senior year I had to write a essay about the true nature of Humans, basically I concluded with "Humans are innately evil, and when given the option to act upon this nature will do so. Moreso when there is no consequence"....or something like that. Basically in an MMO ppl can be the asshole they really are and kill other players, and feel no remorse or guilt cause it wasn't a real person and they don't know the real person behind the avatar. Also their is no in game cops or anything to arrest them.

I disagree with your conclusion; I think it comes down more to individual philosophy. Some people don't commit crimes in real life or grief others in online games for similar reasons. Not everyone fears punishment, some just don't have the desire to do those things.
Getting back on topic though, I've not participated in Aion beta but from what I've seen of it:
I like the environmental art style, but the character and combat style is so nauseatingly (sp?) cliched Eastern that it makes me hesitate to try the game until well after release. After playing other NCsoft products like Lineage 2 and Guild Wars, I know they are fans of the ridiculously over-the-top anime combat and character style. Tons of character facial choices: all of them distinctly Asian. Most players swinging around telephone-pole-sized weapons like toothpicks. Like someone mentioned before, the addition of more westernized character styles and armor would help (though I have the same issue with weapons in games like WoW).
I imagine I would be able to get over it if I the game ends up being genuinely fun. If it's good enough, I'll throw on a face-covering helm, one hand sword and shield and be content. This thread has been pretty educational for someone like me who is just starting to take a serious look at the game though.

While I agree that not being able to PvP from day one sucks, I can only hope the PvP is nothing like WAR. One thing that really irked me was the fact you PvP to PvE to get rewards (i know about the tokens). I also hated smacking doors, and going from flag to flag and waiting. WAR was fun for a few months, then got boring very quickly.
You're right about WAR's community being very laid back, that was definitely good. I disagree with PvE games breeding impolite players. PvP games have them, too. WAR's Open Groups made it easy for people to be laid back. I have recently been trying out AoC (Tyranny) and it has the worst community I've ever seen. This is probably due to it being a FFA PvP game, but it's PvP none the less.

To answer OP. I haven't played enough yet. What I don't like so far
Delay when pressing auto run.
Limited flight. I understand why they did it, but they could have put in more content that involves flight. Put mobs in the air so you can't avoid them by flying.
Paying to bind.
Some textures look out of place. I noticed some hills look fine, then you find this one patch of horrible texture.
Got to agree with you on the comparison between WAR and AoC communities.
I love the game play in AOC and the graphics are awesome but he community at least on tyranny where i use to play is terrible- petty , immature, small minded. I think it might have something to do with the non faction based pvp being able to sledge the other players in regional chat is means it turns into the worst sort of barrens chat .
WARs community is great and it is nice to be able to log on and join a group with easy and pvp.
As far as what I think should be changed/modified
1: Remove the highest damage gets kill credit.
This has been removed from all modern mmos, when there is no recourse with faction based pvp this is just a cause for griefing.
2: Reset mobs if the person who tags them runs out of thier leash range.
Mobs are able to be trained on to other players, as per 1 with no recourse due to the faction based pvp.
3: Allow for better editing of the UI.
Moveable everything is the standard and it should be here as well.
4: The game has been very unplayable this Beta 3 weekend, rubber banding worse than any mmo I have played in a long time, coupled with lag spikes causing many random deaths. For a game with graphics not much better than wow it should be a lot better.
5: Remove GG
6: Up the natural regeneration of hp/mp when NOT IN combat, having to sit and rest went out with the eq spell book.
7:Add a latency meter
I dont really care about my fps as long as its running above smooth visible of 30, latency on the other hand is a major issue.
8:Remove the stupid player stalls
If i want to buy something I will check the AH, I dont want to see advertising for gold sellers or guilds, and i certainly dont need the lag.
9: remove invisible walls
10: Some of the character Animations are pretty bad, the way characters run for instance.
Communities can be quite different even in the same game. In AoC, on Tyranny (pvp) you would find some of the greatest PIAs out there. The only respect you get is by being better at free for all pvp than most folks. The rule of the fist prevails on Tyranny.
On Wiccana (pve - rp), you will the atmosphere to be alot friendlier. Sometimes you even find folks even willing to come help you get quests done. Now, both sets of communities are having fun. Their version of fun is simply different.
Now, Aion is going to force teams so most of the smack talking etc will take place in the forums (ala WoW). Now, gankings will occur while you are leveling. The goal of gankers is always to "prove" how much better they are than you (like you really had a chance vs their max level toon). The enemy faction may decide to deny you access to a resource or instance. But the key is to remember that you are engaging in this activity by choice.
Now, that being said, if you gank me, I will bring my max level toon plus friends if necessary and camp you as much as possible.

I am going to draw this from memory so it may not be very lucrative.
If you look on the sound option tab, at the very bottom there should be two check boxes. One of the boxes is BGM Loop and the other is something else. Try checking both of those boxes because one of them reduces the frequency of the battle shouts. I just can't remember which.

In my opinion, the problems or the issues the game has:
1. The first 10-20 levels are boring as hell and are more linear than 1-20 in Age of Conan. It is that simple.There are single, narrow paths that run through the zones and you MUST follow said path when going from one quest giver to another. There is no deviation from this path and anytime you create a new character it will be the same. This is something that has hurt AOC majorly I believe
levels 1 - 20 are meant as a tutorial of sorts to get you used to your game. Yeah it can be a little boring but, usually the game makes up for it with its oscial aspect...being an MMO. No game has done leveling different, except for EVE that I am aware of. This sounds more like a personal gripe with most general MMO's. Not an issue with the game itself, we see this in many MMO's
2. The branching class system. Historically, this has proven to be a bad thing. EQ2 changed this very quickly because they realized it was something that really hurt players wanting to try new classes. You pick you "real" class at level 10. So what happens if you hate it? You do those exact 10 levels again. Want to roll an alt? Do those exact 10 levels again. Want to play the other faction? Just do their version of the same 10 levels.
This is a matter of taste. I find it refreshing to choose my class after I have had some time to play and get used to that archtype mechanics. That however is just me. Im kind of sick of the heres your class at creation way most MMO's deal you. Again not an issue with the game itself, personal prefference.
This will create massive amounts of boredom at the lower game. It will drive new players away because it is so linear and repetitive. Once the hook of cool combat moves, "flying" and the nice (in terms of quality) graphics wears off and the repetitiveness sets in, you grow bored quickly.
It is linear and it is repetetive i give you that. Allow me to explain the difference here, You is acttualy You not everyone else. Because you get bored of the idea of doing this more than once, that doesnt mean everyone else will. Personal taste ofcourse. Not an issue with the game itself.
3. "Flying" - You have to wait to do it and even then when you get it, its a let down because it lasts about 1 minute. Its almost like a tease and yet supposed to be one of the biggest selling points of the game.
You get to fly at level 10. It lasts 58 seconds initially. It isnt a tease becuase it gives you a greater mobility. It is a major selling point. And if your considering the extent of flying in Aion based on a level 10 character then yes, you are obviously not giving an educated opinion about the game. If you watch videos...pretty much anywhere. You will see that ppl can fly for a very long time. With potions almost infinitely. As far as zones that restrict flying, you can still glide...which works better then flying IMHO. Play the game in the abyss, or at a higher level in a pve zone before making this comment.
4. Quests - I have never seen so many repetitive, uninteresting quests in my life. Everything was either deliver this, kill that or loot this. Sure every MMO has this, but its just EVERY quest you have, back to back to back, is the same at any given moment. It got so bad, I could almost predict what type of quest I was about to get of the 3 types. The quest writing in certain areas is very poor. In one part, you have to kill these poor little creatures for a quest from one person and the person next to them gives you a quest to save the same creatures from big mean creatures. Certain quests, which should be very interesting and "game changing" consists of running around talking to 4 people for no reason. Its the biggest, lamest time sink I have ever seen for something that should be a major quest.
I agree here, that quests are repetetive. Aion doesnt do much new, however they have cut scenes alot throughout the main quests. I dont know how many MMO's can boast that? Nothing game changing was said to be done by NCsoft here, in fact they said they were improving on old tried and true formula's. The cutscenes being added in certainly does that. Especially when you change your class and your fight with the enemy general prompts a cool cutscene.
5. PVP game masquerading as a PVE game - Gankers will live with Rifts and for Rifts. This will be their pride and joy. We know its going to happen. Players who think its a PVE game (and yes some FAQ's allude to the fact it is if you read them) will be very upset when they realize PVP is inescapable. PVP needs to be introduced around level 10 in some form.
This game is not masquerading as anything. It is a PVPVE game, the word PVP is in the tittle of what it announces it self to be. Lets not forget that the NDA has been lifted and there are plenty of videos and reviews about the game. There is no way an normal human being can miss the fact that this game has pvp in its core. Sounds to me like your upset over nothing here. PVP does not need to be within the first 10 levels. You are basically told way before that...if the character selection screen isnt already rediculously obvious.
6. Two factions - Rarely has two factions ever worked in a game. You need 3 PLAYABLE factions for balance purposes. And don't feed me the stuff about the npc faction. We all know that on two faction games, servers become dominated by one side or another and are known as that faction's server. The reason DAOC worked so well was that it divided loyalties up into three factions and there was never a "us vs. them" feeling; it was a "us vs. everyone" feeling and it worked great.
*correction* three factions, 2 playable. No you dont need 3 factions playable. That is a matter of opinion. DAOC imo did not work that well. I played it and there was no balance whatsoever. The only balance came when players were offline and could not defend their keeps...i dont consider that balance. The third faction is a means to a balance in this game, It is already proven it works over in KOR. WOW is 2 factions and it works fine. How do i know? 11 million subs a few months ago says it works.
7. Bots - The other versions show us that botting is an issue with this game and that NCSoft does not seem to be doing enough to deal with the problem. Saying that it won't happen with the US version of the game is being ignorant. The same was said for Lineage 2. A no tolerance policy was also said to apply to Lineage 2. And Gameguard? Please....hacks for Gameguard come out before the patches for it.
I agree 100% here. That bots are a huge issue...is it a issue with this game? Maybe in China, however NA doesnt have an issue yet. Do not create problems that dont exist yet for the current product in NA/EU.
8. Game design - I do not care and nor will your average player care, that the game gets "good" or whatever at level 20,25, or 30. You MUST hook your player early on. If you do not, they will leave and will not come back. Few people, except for those who are major fans of PVP or Aion in general, will wait 25 levels for a game to get good. Whatever other game the player comes from has already hooked them and unless they are incessantly bored with it, they will return.
Yes you should hook the player early. Few ppl will wait to lvl 25? you speek as if you already know for a fact that this game will fail for that reason alone.

Now people will call me a troll and probably much worse. That is fine. The above is MY interpretation of the issues that Aion has. I do want the game to do well though because the market has suffered so many major failures in the last year, I think a major success would be good. Also, I approach the above problems from the focus of a casual, everyday type player who wants to have fun in a game. Most of those issues I note will, I believe, cause massive frustrations for the player and in the end will cause the player to leave the game for one reason or another. Again, it is just my opinion.

And none of that again with the BOT exception is an issue with Aion.
I played the chinese version, and found out, that NcSoft is utterly incapable of defending the game, thus I stopped playing. There is this little fact, that with a custom luncher, for which NcSoft themselves provided information in tech support forums, you can essentially bypass GameGuard fully. Which is dumb, since even free-to-play games tend to check at least once, while running the game, if the GG actually were lunched at least once. Im not talking about "state of the art" tech like essentially checking in some intervals if the gg is running, or actually communicating with it and such. But essentially a player cant bot-hack-abuse the game only if they dont want to do so, or too lazy to do so.
There are many ppl saying that this will be different for EU/US but I doubt, my proof is that they dont let players test 20+ content in these prewiew events they are holding.
If you ever played the game, you would know that past 20+ territories in Eltnen for Elyos, and the similar part of the map for Asmo's is "non channel change territories". What is this means? You cant possibly get away from bots. I remember it vividly as lvl 27+ bots were in groups of 10-20 or even more were killing stuff in quest area(lvl 20+). I know how it was impossible to kill anything that was meant for me to kill. Then I joined a clan, and tried to kill named, and elite mobs, for a different quest chain, and saw my demise.
For starters there wasn't enough of us. And the others could not play their characters, thus proving to be botters. And im talking about my healer getting his ass handed to him becouse some warrior didnt know how to use aggro skills yet demanding constant healing. Or a mage attacking with lvl 1 skills and such. it was hilarious and a totally frigthening experience. since I DID wait quite a bit for this game. Also ever since I found out these things NCSoft still fails to realize this, they didn't even patch this issue even once. And here they come releasing the game for us westerners in a state that not even free to play companies would dare to do so. And I bet they dont even know that there are already fairly advanced private servers for their newest game. And I bet they will cry a lot just like they did withwith L2.
Other than tech/playabilty problems: Crafting IS riddiculous. Especially, since botters dominate it as well. L2 material bot anyone? They are here in AION as well. I mean it is horrible that with 12+ hours of gaming I cant be one of the top crafters, just becouse the guy next to me is onlyine 24/7/4 with 5 chars, 1 crafting the rest filling the craft bot with materials.
There are many quests which got a really bad translation, and is hard to do, since the original hints arent got translated properly. I remember searching for a box, as large as my shoes for 5 hours. When some guy heard my cries and told me where it is. He also told me that in the korean text its failry easy to find it, since the surrounding environment is told of in small culture specific hints. I doubt that western cultures doesent have similar ways of hints than that of korean. Maybe someone intended to cut the job off or something.

Well, I do agree with some of your issues, and this thread is about listing problems with the game. I just wanted to also post my views on your views. If you read my OP it also states for discussion purposes. You are free to list your opinions, however keep in mind this is still a forum. I am not 100% correct but I do dissagree with some of the stuff you wrote. Everyone that posts their opinions have depth to them. If you have an issue with something i posted under your points, feel free to discuss with me.

This will create massive amounts of boredom at the lower game. It will drive new players away because it is so linear and repetitive. Once the hook of cool combat moves, "flying" and the nice (in terms of quality) graphics wears off and the repetitiveness sets in, you grow bored quickly.
It is linear and it is repetetive i give you that. Allow me to explain the difference here, You is acttualy You not everyone else. Because you get bored of the idea of doing this more than once, that doesnt mean everyone else will. Personal taste ofcourse. Not an issue with the game itself.
3. "Flying" - You have to wait to do it and even then when you get it, its a let down because it lasts about 1 minute. Its almost like a tease and yet supposed to be one of the biggest selling points of the game.
You get to fly at level 10. It lasts 58 seconds initially. It isnt a tease becuase it gives you a greater mobility. It is a major selling point. And if your considering the extent of flying in Aion based on a level 10 character then yes, you are obviously not giving an educated opinion about the game. If you watch videos...pretty much anywhere. You will see that ppl can fly for a very long time. With potions almost infinitely. As far as zones that restrict flying, you can still glide...which works better then flying IMHO. Play the game in the abyss, or at a higher level in a pve zone before making this comment.
4. Quests - I have never seen so many repetitive, uninteresting quests in my life. Everything was either deliver this, kill that or loot this. Sure every MMO has this, but its just EVERY quest you have, back to back to back, is the same at any given moment. It got so bad, I could almost predict what type of quest I was about to get of the 3 types. The quest writing in certain areas is very poor. In one part, you have to kill these poor little creatures for a quest from one person and the person next to them gives you a quest to save the same creatures from big mean creatures. Certain quests, which should be very interesting and "game changing" consists of running around talking to 4 people for no reason. Its the biggest, lamest time sink I have ever seen for something that should be a major quest.
I agree here, that quests are repetetive. Aion doesnt do much new, however they have cut scenes alot throughout the main quests. I dont know how many MMO's can boast that? Nothing game changing was said to be done by NCsoft here, in fact they said they were improving on old tried and true formula's. The cutscenes being added in certainly does that. Especially when you change your class and your fight with the enemy general prompts a cool cutscene.
5. PVP game masquerading as a PVE game - Gankers will live with Rifts and for Rifts. This will be their pride and joy. We know its going to happen. Players who think its a PVE game (and yes some FAQ's allude to the fact it is if you read them) will be very upset when they realize PVP is inescapable. PVP needs to be introduced around level 10 in some form.
This game is not masquerading as anything. It is a PVPVE game, the word PVP is in the tittle of what it announces it self to be. Lets not forget that the NDA has been lifted and there are plenty of videos and reviews about the game. There is no way an normal human being can miss the fact that this game has pvp in its core. Sounds to me like your upset over nothing here. PVP does not need to be within the first 10 levels. You are basically told way before that...if the character selection screen isnt already rediculously obvious.
6. Two factions - Rarely has two factions ever worked in a game. You need 3 PLAYABLE factions for balance purposes. And don't feed me the stuff about the npc faction. We all know that on two faction games, servers become dominated by one side or another and are known as that faction's server. The reason DAOC worked so well was that it divided loyalties up into three factions and there was never a "us vs. them" feeling; it was a "us vs. everyone" feeling and it worked great.
*correction* three factions, 2 playable. No you dont need 3 factions playable. That is a matter of opinion. DAOC imo did not work that well. I played it and there was no balance whatsoever. The only balance came when players were offline and could not defend their keeps...i dont consider that balance. The third faction is a means to a balance in this game, It is already proven it works over in KOR. WOW is 2 factions and it works fine. How do i know? 11 million subs a few months ago says it works.
7. Bots - The other versions show us that botting is an issue with this game and that NCSoft does not seem to be doing enough to deal with the problem. Saying that it won't happen with the US version of the game is being ignorant. The same was said for Lineage 2. A no tolerance policy was also said to apply to Lineage 2. And Gameguard? Please....hacks for Gameguard come out before the patches for it.
I agree 100% here. That bots are a huge issue...is it a issue with this game? Maybe in China, however NA doesnt have an issue yet. Do not create problems that dont exist yet for the current product in NA/EU.
8. Game design - I do not care and nor will your average player care, that the game gets "good" or whatever at level 20,25, or 30. You MUST hook your player early on. If you do not, they will leave and will not come back. Few people, except for those who are major fans of PVP or Aion in general, will wait 25 levels for a game to get good. Whatever other game the player comes from has already hooked them and unless they are incessantly bored with it, they will return.

----- Now people will call me a troll and probably much worse. That is fine. The above is MY interpretation of the issues that Aion has. I do want the game to do well though because the market has suffered so many major failures in the last year, I think a major success would be good. Also, I approach the above problems from the focus of a casual, everyday type player who wants to have fun in a game. Most of those issues I note will, I believe, cause massive frustrations for the player and in the end will cause the player to leave the game for one reason or another. Again, it is just my opinion.
Not a troll, but you obviously have certain preferences a majority do not agree with. Perhaps you should consider going back to another PVE game in general. Good luck with whatever game you decide to go to, but keep in mind everything you have listed with the exception of bots is purely opinion. And none of that again with the BOT exception is an issue with Aion.

These are the two that I agree with you on. The PvE side of Aion seems to just be an intro into how to play your character. I am hoping that when NCsoft gets the voice done the enviroment becomes more interesting. However, I do see most players rushing through the first twenty levels thou in order to avoid going splat when they hit the Abyss and major pvp groups there. If you take too long leveling up, you will face the bored gankers who are not personable enough to get into a decent legion. In general, players will go past the first twenty levels. There is nothing besides great graphics that grabs you true, but there is no hindrance either.
IMHO, Aion will sink or fly based upon how good the pvp (especially RvR) is setup. Aion has alot of pvp content at the upper end. More important questions like, can the average player have fun in RvR? How much of pvp is skill based vs grind based? How much of pvp is decided by consumables? need to be answered for Aion. The only person that can judge that is the person playing.
Okay now to be fair you did ask them to list their issues with the game... then you critique them for it. They are being honest and yes for some the main issue is that this style of game is not their cup of tea, but that is neither right or wrong. If they have played the beta or korean version then I say let them have at it with the review. Its all opinion based. I have been in wait of this game for 3 years now and am stoked after CB and cannot wait for it to finally drop. That being said I think there are many things that could use tweaking, but I expect that over time the game will evolve. That is after all the whole point of a MMO.
I personally think the linear questing is an issue for those of us who like alts as repeating content, especially the very dry quests that were the majority offered to me in my 16 levels of play, is tedious/boring/unfulfilling/unchallenging. I hope they at least mix it up by introducing instances/group content earlier then 25, as I am a huge fan of grouping and the interplay in dynamics that it brings. I think that a few diverging newbie quest lines and/or a starter instance would mix up the game play for the beginner levels and make rerolling a little happier.
I really want to be able to swim as its hard to believe that these very powerful deavas sink like stones and drown when facing the tiniest amount of water.
I was appalled at the player shops and founds them cluttering of the scenery. They also add unnessary lag. I would recommend the option to turn them off, limit where they can be (like have a designated flea market/bizarre area in the major cities), or just get rid of them.
I look forward to the even more customization available with the new patch. I heard a rumour that they will add in some more eurasian/america looks for it like the choice of a 'fro hair style. I am all for it as the more choice they give the less chance my toon will look like anyone elses as I am sick of having 20 people all look like me walk by in mmos.
I am weary of the tiny toons being rolled for the purpose of smaller targets during pvp. Don't get me wrong I will roll a tiny toon too on my main pvp toon as I like an edge as much as the rest, but they are so tiny that you cannot see armour/gear displayed properly. Either cut down the range of sizes or balance the small hit box with say movement speed decrease since they have tinier legs and cannot run as fast.
Summoned pets get recalled very easily and loose all buffs if you go down a hill due to these invisible walls and the weird pathing on the pets. They need a longer follow or ability to stick closer to the player ie better pathing.
I was having rubber banding issues with the CB server and it was a noted server/software issue adn they were asking people to send them location/hardware/in game details to help solve this issue. I mean I expect some lag when a gazillion people are all in 2 zones all at once doing the same thing. But it was surprisingly smooth till you got the banding and had to relog to fix it.
Crafting was getting expensive up about 70, but when game goes live I know I will have a guild backing me up with crafting mats so that sould help ease the growing pain. Crafting was fairly straight forward, but could use more varied recipes for leveling up off.
Quest drops need to be shared to all members in the party doing the quest... else honestly in the beginner zones there is not much reason to group up.
Legion rights were only 2 tiered. Meaning you could only set people at two differing levels of rights (invite/expell/guild bank/etc). Would be nice to have a few more tiers to allow more flexibility within guild.
I did have fun. I did join a legion and test it all out. I did only reach 16 and did not do much pvp besides duels and one pitiful attempt at the arena. LOL I did get to 90/99 in alchemy and 71/99 cooking. I did laugh and think that cooking with mama should be a title I could get. I did roll toons on both sides just to see if the grass was greener on the other side.
Now do I want a critique of all my points saying if they are right or wrong to you... no not really. This is my opinion of the game play of things I noticed that I thought could use a little more work for me to better enjoy the game. Please post away with things that you feel would mke the game more enjoyable to you.

Also if you played / going to play CB please make sure to post issues and suggestions on the Aion Beta Boards. Not saying that the specific suggestion you have will get done, but there is a better chance of it beign noticed over there then here. Always post any game glitches, cheats, etc on the beta boards as those need to get fixed. That is what beta is for. Beta is not about learning how to exploit the game before others ~_~ but there are always some who think this way. So foul up their plans and make issues known. This is also a way to see how interested the developers are in fixing issues. Every post helps make the game that much better. I figure it like voting, if you don't do it then you have little to say about the current priminister / president.

Actually if you went into audio options and turned the first SFX bar (from memory) down to 0 it would turn this off. I hated it myself but it was easy enough to figure it out.
One thing i'll never get is why we need an official problem thread about a game not even released. Why do people always focus on the negatives and not the positives. I guess i'm more a half cup full kinda guy.
I don't think Aion is perfect but the few minor quibbles i have with it aren't worth creating a thread about.
i tried turning all the sound sliders off to get rid of the annoying voices, the only one that seemed to work was turtning down the master volume, but then EVERYTHING goes away :P

In my senior year I had to write a essay about the true nature of Humans, basically I concluded with "Humans are innately evil, and when given the option to act upon this nature will do so. Moreso when there is no consequence"....or something like that. Basically in an MMO ppl can be the asshole they really are and kill other players, and feel no remorse or guilt cause it wasn't a real person and they don't know the real person behind the avatar. Also their is no in game cops or anything to arrest them.

I disagree with your conclusion; I think it comes down more to individual philosophy. Some people don't commit crimes in real life or grief others in online games for similar reasons. Not everyone fears punishment, some just don't have the desire to do those things.
Getting back on topic though, I've not participated in Aion beta but from what I've seen of it:
I like the environmental art style, but the character and combat style is so nauseatingly (sp?) cliched Eastern that it makes me hesitate to try the game until well after release. After playing other NCsoft products like Lineage 2 and Guild Wars, I know they are fans of the ridiculously over-the-top anime combat and character style. Tons of character facial choices: all of them distinctly Asian. Most players swinging around telephone-pole-sized weapons like toothpicks. Like someone mentioned before, the addition of more westernized character styles and armor would help (though I have the same issue with weapons in games like WoW).
I imagine I would be able to get over it if I the game ends up being genuinely fun. If it's good enough, I'll throw on a face-covering helm, one hand sword and shield and be content. This thread has been pretty educational for someone like me who is just starting to take a serious look at the game though.

While I agree that not being able to PvP from day one sucks, I can only hope the PvP is nothing like WAR. One thing that really irked me was the fact you PvP to PvE to get rewards (i know about the tokens). I also hated smacking doors, and going from flag to flag and waiting. WAR was fun for a few months, then got boring very quickly.
You're right about WAR's community being very laid back, that was definitely good. I disagree with PvE games breeding impolite players. PvP games have them, too. WAR's Open Groups made it easy for people to be laid back. I have recently been trying out AoC (Tyranny) and it has the worst community I've ever seen. This is probably due to it being a FFA PvP game, but it's PvP none the less.

Got to agree with you on the comparison between WAR and AoC communities.
I love the game play in AOC and the graphics are awesome but he community at least on tyranny where i use to play is terrible- petty , immature, small minded. I think it might have something to do with the non faction based pvp being able to sledge the other players in regional chat is means it turns into the worst sort of barrens chat .
WARs community is great and it is nice to be able to log on and join a group with easy and pvp.
As far as what I think should be changed/modified
1: Remove the highest damage gets kill credit.
This has been removed from all modern mmos, when there is no recourse with faction based pvp this is just a cause for griefing.
2: Reset mobs if the person who tags them runs out of thier leash range.
Mobs are able to be trained on to other players, as per 1 with no recourse due to the faction based pvp.
3: Allow for better editing of the UI.
Moveable everything is the standard and it should be here as well.
4: The game has been very unplayable this Beta 3 weekend, rubber banding worse than any mmo I have played in a long time, coupled with lag spikes causing many random deaths. For a game with graphics not much better than wow it should be a lot better.
5: Remove GG
6: Up the natural regeneration of hp/mp when NOT IN combat, having to sit and rest went out with the eq spell book.
7:Add a latency meter
I dont really care about my fps as long as its running above smooth visible of 30, latency on the other hand is a major issue.
8:Remove the stupid player stalls
If i want to buy something I will check the AH, I dont want to see advertising for gold sellers or guilds, and i certainly dont need the lag.
9: remove invisible walls
10: Some of the character Animations are pretty bad, the way characters run for instance.
Communities can be quite different even in the same game. In AoC, on Tyranny (pvp) you would find some of the greatest PIAs out there. The only respect you get is by being better at free for all pvp than most folks. The rule of the fist prevails on Tyranny.
On Wiccana (pve - rp), you will the atmosphere to be alot friendlier. Sometimes you even find folks even willing to come help you get quests done. Now, both sets of communities are having fun. Their version of fun is simply different.
Now, Aion is going to force teams so most of the smack talking etc will take place in the forums (ala WoW). Now, gankings will occur while you are leveling. The goal of gankers is always to "prove" how much better they are than you (like you really had a chance vs their max level toon). The enemy faction may decide to deny you access to a resource or instance. But the key is to remember that you are engaging in this activity by choice.
Now, that being said, if you gank me, I will bring my max level toon plus friends if necessary and camp you as much as possible.

I am going to draw this from memory so it may not be very lucrative.
If you look on the sound option tab, at the very bottom there should be two check boxes. One of the boxes is BGM Loop and the other is something else. Try checking both of those boxes because one of them reduces the frequency of the battle shouts. I just can't remember which.

I played the chinese version, and found out, that NcSoft is utterly incapable of defending the game, thus I stopped playing. There is this little fact, that with a custom luncher, for which NcSoft themselves provided information in tech support forums, you can essentially bypass GameGuard fully. Which is dumb, since even free-to-play games tend to check at least once, while running the game, if the GG actually were lunched at least once. Im not talking about "state of the art" tech like essentially checking in some intervals if the gg is running, or actually communicating with it and such. But essentially a player cant bot-hack-abuse the game only if they dont want to do so, or too lazy to do so.
There are many ppl saying that this will be different for EU/US but I doubt, my proof is that they dont let players test 20+ content in these prewiew events they are holding.
If you ever played the game, you would know that past 20+ territories in Eltnen for Elyos, and the similar part of the map for Asmo's is "non channel change territories". What is this means? You cant possibly get away from bots. I remember it vividly as lvl 27+ bots were in groups of 10-20 or even more were killing stuff in quest area(lvl 20+). I know how it was impossible to kill anything that was meant for me to kill. Then I joined a clan, and tried to kill named, and elite mobs, for a different quest chain, and saw my demise.
For starters there wasn't enough of us. And the others could not play their characters, thus proving to be botters. And im talking about my healer getting his ass handed to him becouse some warrior didnt know how to use aggro skills yet demanding constant healing. Or a mage attacking with lvl 1 skills and such. it was hilarious and a totally frigthening experience. since I DID wait quite a bit for this game. Also ever since I found out these things NCSoft still fails to realize this, they didn't even patch this issue even once. And here they come releasing the game for us westerners in a state that not even free to play companies would dare to do so. And I bet they dont even know that there are already fairly advanced private servers for their newest game. And I bet they will cry a lot just like they did withwith L2.
Other than tech/playabilty problems: Crafting IS riddiculous. Especially, since botters dominate it as well. L2 material bot anyone? They are here in AION as well. I mean it is horrible that with 12+ hours of gaming I cant be one of the top crafters, just becouse the guy next to me is onlyine 24/7/4 with 5 chars, 1 crafting the rest filling the craft bot with materials.
There are many quests which got a really bad translation, and is hard to do, since the original hints arent got translated properly. I remember searching for a box, as large as my shoes for 5 hours. When some guy heard my cries and told me where it is. He also told me that in the korean text its failry easy to find it, since the surrounding environment is told of in small culture specific hints. I doubt that western cultures doesent have similar ways of hints than that of korean. Maybe someone intended to cut the job off or something.
I find it kind of funny that you started this thread and in the title you say to "list all your problems...".
Doesn't that mean, by definition, the problems listed will be someone's opinion since they will be their problems?

Well, I do agree with some of your issues, and this thread is about listing problems with the game. I just wanted to also post my views on your views. If you read my OP it also states for discussion purposes. You are free to list your opinions, however keep in mind this is still a forum. I am not 100% correct but I do dissagree with some of the stuff you wrote. Everyone that posts their opinions have depth to them. If you have an issue with something i posted under your points, feel free to discuss with me.

Just to make sure everyone understands this reading this thread, You can post whatver you think is wrong with Aion, but please stay away from using personal bias to postively or negatively effect readers. Let the players ultimately make their decisions when purchasing or playing a game.
Everything you post as an issue or a blessing can be discussed, this is not a troll thread so please dont take responses from me or other players in the wrong light. Even though some of us may or may not agree with you, please dont take it personally.
We can have a discussion on the issues with the game, I just made this thread to center them all in one area....so we can stop seeing a new one every other day.
Not a troll, but you obviously have certain preferences a majority do not agree with. Perhaps you should consider going back to another PVE game in general. Good luck with whatever game you decide to go to, but keep in mind everything you have listed with the exception of bots is purely opinion. And none of that again with the BOT exception is an issue with Aion.

These are the two that I agree with you on. The PvE side of Aion seems to just be an intro into how to play your character. I am hoping that when NCsoft gets the voice done the enviroment becomes more interesting. However, I do see most players rushing through the first twenty levels thou in order to avoid going splat when they hit the Abyss and major pvp groups there. If you take too long leveling up, you will face the bored gankers who are not personable enough to get into a decent legion. In general, players will go past the first twenty levels. There is nothing besides great graphics that grabs you true, but there is no hindrance either.
IMHO, Aion will sink or fly based upon how good the pvp (especially RvR) is setup. Aion has alot of pvp content at the upper end. More important questions like, can the average player have fun in RvR? How much of pvp is skill based vs grind based? How much of pvp is decided by consumables? need to be answered for Aion. The only person that can judge that is the person playing.
Okay now to be fair you did ask them to list their issues with the game... then you critique them for it. They are being honest and yes for some the main issue is that this style of game is not their cup of tea, but that is neither right or wrong. If they have played the beta or korean version then I say let them have at it with the review. Its all opinion based. I have been in wait of this game for 3 years now and am stoked after CB and cannot wait for it to finally drop. That being said I think there are many things that could use tweaking, but I expect that over time the game will evolve. That is after all the whole point of a MMO.
I personally think the linear questing is an issue for those of us who like alts as repeating content, especially the very dry quests that were the majority offered to me in my 16 levels of play, is tedious/boring/unfulfilling/unchallenging. I hope they at least mix it up by introducing instances/group content earlier then 25, as I am a huge fan of grouping and the interplay in dynamics that it brings. I think that a few diverging newbie quest lines and/or a starter instance would mix up the game play for the beginner levels and make rerolling a little happier.
I really want to be able to swim as its hard to believe that these very powerful deavas sink like stones and drown when facing the tiniest amount of water.
I was appalled at the player shops and founds them cluttering of the scenery. They also add unnessary lag. I would recommend the option to turn them off, limit where they can be (like have a designated flea market/bizarre area in the major cities), or just get rid of them.
I look forward to the even more customization available with the new patch. I heard a rumour that they will add in some more eurasian/america looks for it like the choice of a 'fro hair style. I am all for it as the more choice they give the less chance my toon will look like anyone elses as I am sick of having 20 people all look like me walk by in mmos.
I am weary of the tiny toons being rolled for the purpose of smaller targets during pvp. Don't get me wrong I will roll a tiny toon too on my main pvp toon as I like an edge as much as the rest, but they are so tiny that you cannot see armour/gear displayed properly. Either cut down the range of sizes or balance the small hit box with say movement speed decrease since they have tinier legs and cannot run as fast.
Summoned pets get recalled very easily and loose all buffs if you go down a hill due to these invisible walls and the weird pathing on the pets. They need a longer follow or ability to stick closer to the player ie better pathing.
I was having rubber banding issues with the CB server and it was a noted server/software issue adn they were asking people to send them location/hardware/in game details to help solve this issue. I mean I expect some lag when a gazillion people are all in 2 zones all at once doing the same thing. But it was surprisingly smooth till you got the banding and had to relog to fix it.
Crafting was getting expensive up about 70, but when game goes live I know I will have a guild backing me up with crafting mats so that sould help ease the growing pain. Crafting was fairly straight forward, but could use more varied recipes for leveling up off.
Quest drops need to be shared to all members in the party doing the quest... else honestly in the beginner zones there is not much reason to group up.
Legion rights were only 2 tiered. Meaning you could only set people at two differing levels of rights (invite/expell/guild bank/etc). Would be nice to have a few more tiers to allow more flexibility within guild.
I did have fun. I did join a legion and test it all out. I did only reach 16 and did not do much pvp besides duels and one pitiful attempt at the arena. LOL I did get to 90/99 in alchemy and 71/99 cooking. I did laugh and think that cooking with mama should be a title I could get. I did roll toons on both sides just to see if the grass was greener on the other side.
Now do I want a critique of all my points saying if they are right or wrong to you... no not really. This is my opinion of the game play of things I noticed that I thought could use a little more work for me to better enjoy the game. Please post away with things that you feel would mke the game more enjoyable to you.
And to the guy needing the ball gag for his homosexual ranger...just remember that you styled him with that need. Could have made him a leather and chaps top. ^_~

That being said, I already stated in my OP that this issues are up for discussion, I dont care if you agree with me or not. But dont get mad when I post in disagreement to start a discussion. Get over it.
I hate the tiny characters, other than that I love the game.

Also if you played / going to play CB please make sure to post issues and suggestions on the Aion Beta Boards. Not saying that the specific suggestion you have will get done, but there is a better chance of it beign noticed over there then here. Always post any game glitches, cheats, etc on the beta boards as those need to get fixed. That is what beta is for. Beta is not about learning how to exploit the game before others ~_~ but there are always some who think this way. So foul up their plans and make issues known. This is also a way to see how interested the developers are in fixing issues. Every post helps make the game that much better. I figure it like voting, if you don't do it then you have little to say about the current priminister / president.
