1. Yes, it's $15 a month, same as most other p2p games
2. That's all opinion. Personally, I think it is. It's a lot of fun and has improved A LOT since launch.
3. Pros: Great graphics, fun combat, combat mounts, city sieges, not for kids... Cons: High system requirements, Tortage (tutorial area) is mostly single player, huge install
4. Lvls 1-20 is all tutorial, after that it becomes more pve / raid oriented, with some large scale pvp at the higher lvls
5. Once again, it's all opinion. It's easier to find a group in WoW, but the players are much, much nicer and more helpful in AoC. Also, WoW has more content, but that's with 2 expansions under its belt. AoC has one coming soon, though.
6. It's all good.
7. You can get a trial off the website to give it a try before you buy.
Edit: Sorry, trials are down right now due to the veteran re-evaluation thing... I still have a buddy key that's good for 7 days if you wanna give it a try. PM me if you want it.
1. Yes, you have to pay for the online portion.
2. I enjoy playing AoC so the answer for me is yes. You can answer that question for yourself when the free trials start back up again.
3. AoC is the best looking MMO with incredible graphics. The story world is dark fantasy which I enjoy. The gameplay is fast and reactive. The instances are fun and different in style.
The downside is the game requires a pretty good machine. There are quite a few PIA players (especially on pvp servers). The game had alot of bugs on launch. The vast majority of those have been fixed.
4. Well first you level up experiencing the world. After that, you can either instance (mostly light raids
) or pvp (sieges are my favorite) for better gear. There is also some rpers in AoC as well.
5. WoW is a fun game but I am tired of the current content in WoW.
6. I do play WoW still lol, I mostly do holiday events and once in awhile I am dragged into Ulduar (dang healer shortages).
7. AoC is a casual game that you play to simply have fun. If you want facts, charts, prestige, ie a second job there are other MMOs for that.
1+2.) Yes you do, I personally think its worth it. The game was 20$ for the game+1month. there was a 6 day trial and a 14 day vet return program. I won a Copy of AoC On MMORPG.com so all in all I got 6 days+30 Days+30 days+14 more if I cancel and cubscribe again. so 20$ for 80 Days of game play for me is more than worth it, espcially when the game is this good.
3.) Pro's - Great graphics, story, awesome classes to choose (although maybe not all perfectly balanced) an amazing world to explore. Best combat in any MMO ever. Great PvE proboly the best out there and the PvP is good too, and keeeps on improving. Its a casual game and you level up quickly, always feel like your progressing.
Con's - This game has some zoning and instances its not a complete open world. After tortage (20+) Few NPC's have voices, although the script is still as good as ever. You can get ganked by Higher levels, although I find it adds to the fun and suspense and I enjoy iy personally.
4.) People normally Quest, Seige battle, Harvest resources, build cities, raid for high end gear (the gear might not be as epic as say in Wow [never played it] but the instanced and raids are the most immersive and fun I have ever played. I climbed a mountain to kill a 50 Ft. Ice troll It was awesome. There is soooo much to do in this game its awesome.
5.) I never played WoW, but I would proboly say AoC has WAY more potential than WoW. But WoW is polished to a degree that very few MMO's will ever see.
7.) I Would say try it! I am loving it and cant wait to get to the higher levels to see what else is in store
Guild Wars - Rorick Aurlith E/Mo pumped up with the best armor and weapon, has all his skills, and runes. PvP King!
Dark Age of Camelot - Leaton 50 Vampiir - Lamorak - Guild: Magic and Mayhem!
People will tell you to try the free trial...and I would probably agree, but most importantly read their forums and see what you are in for before you commit, it won't take alot of reading to confirm what im telling you. I can back this stuff up by posting links if you need.

"They talked about the recent 1.05 Tarantia Commons Patch, the many changes to the game, community response, and the possibility of moving Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures into a free-to-play model: “We’re certainly not ruling anything out, but we don’t have any current plans for that. However, we’ve had huge success going free-to-play with our other MMO Anarchy Online, and we strongly believe its a viable business strategy for these kinds of games.”

I don't find this surprising. I think remember reading in a prerelease interview Funcom stating that for the game to be profitable they need 150k subs and I don't thing they have had those number since late summer last year. I can see where they could be considering going mini transactions or F2P.
By the way for the OP
Pros = it's a nice casual game on the PvE side Cons = it's a nice casual game on the PvE side
I miss DAoC

Ah ok thanks... reading the whole thing including the question though, they didn't just "say" that, they were asked and said they wouldn't rule it out even though they have no plans for it. I don't know any mmo that would say there is no chance of it ever becoming f2p
There are many other MMOs of the same genre, and players can only afford so many subscriptions. Blizzard said earlier this week that it's possible WoW will be free to play with microtransactions one day, would you ever consider changing AoC to a free to play model?

Im not sure this is true--you may be thinking of an April Fools joke shown here: www.mmoz.com/forum/showthread.php
If not...please link your source
but i can see micro transactions being something available in WoW...heck they'd make a killing with their sub numbers. EQ does-Im sure.
EDIT: Link won't show, just type in google WoW free to play--you should see it. (2nd choice). I guess they don't want that kind of joke linkable.

I guess what im asking is where did the interviewer get that info (about wow suggesting they may go F2P one day)...I've looked but i can't seem to find it. I'll ask on the WoW boards.
