In EQ1 they had necros, druids, etc.
Are there solo classes in EQ2? If so what are they?
I have not played it yet, still munching on Eve, but I would like to try EQ2 sometime.

Up to lvl 20 it's okay to solo with any class. After lvl 20 it's better not to.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
This is true, however, if you are going to solo, expect it to take ALOT longer than groups. At level 20, as a Ranger, I'd get whooped everytime by a solo yellow con to me. So I would have to stick to blue's and below if I wanted to solo to level 20.
The other thing is, while soloing is an option, I really don't see all to many solo mobs out in Antonica which you could hunt anyway. I'd say 98% of the mobs out there are "Group" conned mobs so I don't think you can solo them at all.
So while soloing is an option, it's not a really good one.

Look up my comment about EQ II befor eyou buy it. I have left some reasons not to buy the game just yet and to wait for awhile. If you play EVE you prolly get to PVP. You cannot in EQ2. Read my post when you get a chance and you will find that it is not that great of a game just yet

tricide i think i saw that you are quitting eq2. which is fine thats your choice. but why do you keep returning to our boards? just to bash our game of choice? why not find one you like and stay on their boards because you know if you keep comeing here just to complain all your going to do is get the flamers fired up.

very hard to solo in eq2
I don't see any point to play MMo when you want to solo. If you prefer to play solo game, why you just don't save yourself some 15 bucks a month and play some great offline RPG. I had fun playing Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Elder's Scrolls series. Morrowind can simulate you MMO world in offline environment and you can solo all the way . MMOs were made to bring player interaction into the gaming, and EQ2 is the best example of socilaization. If you get MMO with and idea to do solo playing, don't do it. Don't waste your money on something you don't enjoy, and don't complain about something what is the basics of the entire gaming style.
i agree that group xp should always be way better than solo. but some day you just dont feel like grouping so you should have the option to solo. like when your trying to work off xp debt. or you only have 30 or so min to play so there is no use to get into a group.
I dont have a problem soloing with my necro anyway. i do it all the time in nek forest.

This comment apply at least as much to you all defender of EQ2 as it apply to the worst flamers.
This is a neutral ground not controlled by SoE. If you want to hear positive only, go to SoE official board and leave the neutral ground.
Here, peoples express their opinion, both positive and negative.
I left EQ2 after a week, and I still come here from time to time to read and talk. If you want a mindless positive setting, a neutral board is definitely not the right place to be! SoE dont delete dissident voices here.
And for the anti-solo trash that keep coming from others mouths, you hardly understand soloers, stop bashing solo and enjoy a world empty of us! We are done arguing with the trash MMO should not be solo bad attitude, you are all alone now, free of soloers, enjoy! If you want soloers back into the game, solo need to be nice and appealing, not the trash WoW or EQ2 think is appropriate. Group dont need to be better, peoples WANT to group, thereby the argument that group XP need to be better is a nonsense. Solo need to be equal, in the same rules, or with a differents rules set, but equal. Making groups better is enforcing peoples to bear peoples that they should kick out of the group, should not be tolerated 1 moment.
PS: If solo matter a lot to you, try CoH, as close as I see for a nice solo friendly game...as long as you pick a solo combo.
PPS: Everyone(almost) like to solo from time to time, maybe not much, but a little. A raider like to solo. A grouper like to solo. A PvPer like to solo. Most tradeskillers like to solo. A soloer dont necessarily like grouping, tradeskilling, PvPing or raiding in any form. Thereby, soloing is the base you should build everything on. Making the best soloers peoples that do activity X only is eliminating all the players that dont do it.
PPPS: It would be easy to ADD stats as the game get ''more complex''. So if you want just the basic stats, you should solo to developp them as best as possible. If you are in a grouping setting, you add more stats that stack with old stats, and the best way to developp those new stats is in this grouping setting...and so on with raiding. Exemple: Hit Points(for everyone, best developped soloing) stack with MegaHPs(earn in grouping and only affecting the grouping+ world) and stack with vitality(raiding setting, need to raid to earn them, but only affecting the raiding world, both MegaHPS and HPS stack here, but the number can be as insignificant as you want compare to vitality that stack here).

Most tradeskillers like to group. A soloer dont necessarily like grouping, tradeskilling, PvPing or raiding in any form. Thereby, soloing is the base you should build everything on. This type of logic is called backward-logic, they teached it in my skool. Well, they unteached real logic and then by default this is what we have left. Making the best soloers peoples that do activity X only is eliminating all the players that dont do it. That is why they call them MMOs. Because they are Massively Multiplayer Online solo games.
PPPS: It would be hard to ADD skills as the game get ''more complex''. So if you want just the basic stats, you should solo to developp the skill of not paying attention to any other players as best as possible. If you are in a grouping setting, it takes more skill, and the best way to developp those new skills is in this grouping setting...and so on with raiding. Exemple: I make my own rules for a game for soloing, and call it an MMORPG by selecting a genre of game type randomly to market it.

LVL 28 warden here, (thats one of the really good healing classes BTW)
I can solo pretty well, I have really good DPS and my heals are short hots that I cast once every 20-30 secs and in between I can nuke, all the spells I use from lvl 10-20 are adept 3 and this of course helps, only have one 20+ adept 3 yet though, a DoT.
