" can you do a darthmaul and Welsh thing? " .. LOL im welsh, a welsh Darthmau.
As some others have said I feel id be paying a monthly fee to play a single player game, where is the MMO?
As to graphics, they are fine, fluid, detailed, clearly a lot of work has gone into them ... its the graphical style some of you dont like, rather these than stiff dolls we get in EQ2 & VG.
Voice overs sound good and look cool. The "art-style" and character models looks like complete shit. I also didn't see ANY MMO in that trailer.
Most people like the art style, if they made it realistic looking as well as working with their goal to make the game available to people with low-end system it would look even worse.
And they're not showing off MMO features in the VOICE OVER trailer, they're obviously trying to show off voice-overs.
(even though he was playing with another player in an instanced area...)
I like the art style as it's close to Clone Wars.I'm very impressed with the voice overs as they really bring the immersiveness that I have always missed in MMOs.I only hope the whole journey to end game will be as immersive as that.
In the land of Predators, the lion does not fear the jackals...

You can get some voice overs in Aoc, yet it was a pile of shit, so go figure. Was that enough immersion for you? Voice overs dont mean shit if the rest of the game is cack. Any game can put voice overs if they wish. This whole game smells more and more of a single player rpg tbh, i will be totally shocked if it dosnt employ the excat same zoning and instacing of zones like AOC has.
That's a pretty dimwitted and pathetic argument. In AoC, the only part of the game that had spoken dialogue was in Tortage. Surprise, that's the part of the game everybody remembers fondly. I don't think you'll find any AoC player, current or otherwise, who wouldn't think that the game would have been a huge success if the rest of the game was as immersive and enjoyable as Tortage.
I mean, really, I'm a huge Bioware fan, so I probably would have bought it anyway.
But now after seeing this video, I'm totally sold on it.

Voice over is a pretty cool feature, but I hope they don't have it twisted. By this I mean voice over is cool to have but it is very low on my list of needs in an MMO. I'll be glad to have it, but if they don't have an immersive world, well developed economy, risk vs reward, ect...I won't be able to just stay into the game because of the VO. It would be like having a broken car with expensive rims on it:) I can say that I am still not a fan of the cartoon style art, but I will be able to get past that because, well, it's Star Wars. I just hope that they are putting as much work into the key MMORPG features that we have been wanting for so long and not all their eggs in one basket with this VO feature.
I love how everything will be fully-voiced. My one concern is if they'll be giving us many voices to choose what we want our own voice to sound like. It would be bad playing a game with a voice I don't like.
==================== Remember man that passes by, as you are now so once was I. And as I am so must you be, prepare yourself to follow me.
The character models don't look that great. As for what you say to the person in a conversation changes by what you say, didn't the do that in Mass Effect and I for one thought it was terrible. Also why does the game have to be fully voiced? Also if your in a crowded city wouldn't it be really annoying, to hear so much talking.
1. I'm really digging the VO. The Bounty Hunter voiceover gave me a Full Throttle vibe (that's an old Lucasarts adventure game where the protoganist, Ben, had a similar tough guy voice). Just the right amount of camp, there. I'm also digging the dialogue itself.
2. I'm digging how the conversation scenes are being handled visually - they do have a cinematic feel to them.
3. I'm on the fence about the animations. Can be more fluid and I've seen some bad running in there, while some gestures really added character. I like how the combat seems to flow visually.
4. I'm so not digging the character models - especially the faces. They have a EQ2-ish wooden puppet feeling to them, which is only heightened when they open their mouth to speak.
5. I'm digging the UI. It's conventional but elegant. I do like the Mass Effect conversation wheel.
6. I'm digging, no, I *love* how Ord Mantell and especially Hutta looked in-game. Overall I love the environment art.
Anyway, the guy from Bioware said it's "still a ways off", didn't he? All of the above can undergo some revision. And of course we still know very little about the game mechanics.
I like the voice-overs and all, but I care much more about the GAME.
The good thing is is that it looks awesome, even for some alpha demo gameplay.
Although I was severely disappointed that they made Steven Blum's voice-overs all strong and heroic, I won't be using his voice.
I was hoping it would be more sly like Spike, not Buzz Lightyear...
And the lines the Bounty Hunter said were incredibly cheesy.
Every line Han said in the movies is incredibly cheesy...not to mention Obi-wan through the movies, cartoons, etc. Star Wars is supposed to be cheesy...it walks the line between epic and cheesy perfectly..and thats why we love it.
I was over on the WoW forums, looks like people over there are starting to take notice of the game as well. The thread was pretty positive for a WoW forum thread to say the least.
That's because WoW has horrible graphics too.
Personally I can understand wanting to try a stylized look, I'd look forward to it...but right now these graphics look like they were colored in with crayon.
Still hoping it's only an Alpha thing and the graphics will get better around launch.
Combat looks like it'll be standing still with autofacing which will suck for PVP
The only good thing they showed off int hat video was the voice overs but I even hate the kiddy graphics. They don't even look nice like World of Warcrafts, they just look cheap, kiddy, plastic and don't even suit star wars.
Not impresssed and doesn't give me much hope for mmorpgs in the future.
Well then I guess you sould go play something else then. xD Can't make everyone happy, and why should they?

If most people liked the art style, there wouldn't have been such an outcry about it when they first showed previews. Why would it have to look worse if it was realistically stylized? There are a lot of realistically stylized games that look great(pretty much every FPS).
Even if this video is for the voice overs, you would think that showing gameplay features of an upcoming MMORPG would actually show it being an MMORPG.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
Heh I was watchin this with my friend last night and was like, "The BH sound just like Spike Spiegel..." Steve Blum rules!
Now all they gotta do is get Nate Fillion, Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk to voice Republic troopers and I'll be getting this game, bubblegum graphics or not!
BTW was that Jennifer Hale in the recording booth? Any Ids on the other voice actors?

So far, I'm liking pretty much everything about this game with one possible exception.
I'm not sold on the combat. It's a bit.. stiff, simplistic and slow-paced.
Take the Sith-vs-NPC fights at 5:03 and 3:37; they're kinda stood trading blows like mannequins and that NPC takes a full 4 hit saber combo, losing about 70% of his health without doing a single point of damage back to the Sith; doesn't seem too challenging.
Then, when they're fighting the jedi knight, both the BH and the Sith are whaling on him and his health bar is slooooowly moving; while the Sith/BH are taking virtually no damage.I get that he's supposed to be like a quest "boss" NPC so should be much more challenging to kill than the average mob, but I hope that means more in the TOR universe than just "you have to hit him for longer".
At 5:12 you can see the Jedi hit the Sith for a whopping 6 damage with a saber; 1% of his entire HP.
It's not a deal-breaker for me; I'll be playing TOR at launch and even if the combat is a bit meh but I'm hoping that we get to see some gameplay footage in the future where the gameplay is a bit edgier, faster-paced and the PC(s) are getting more than a light workout.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
Its awesome to see some new footage of the UI, voice overs and combat scenes.
With people saying the graphics are "poor" or whatnot, well they aint designing this game to be "realistic" , and personally i really love the creative elements that have put in the graphical presentation in this game so far. It looks very artistic and epic the way they have done it!
Heres one question that will pop up now - "Will your character have the option to choose his or her's own voice" - I cannot see every jedi/BH etc etc have the same voice lol - or have one different voice for each class.
By the way, the characters voice sounded, umm batman? I don't know but it sounded familiar.
I'm curious about that question as well. I hope when I interact with other players that they don't all sound the same. Far as graphics go, I still think they could have done a lot better, but since this game will be voice acted I guess they needed to find some way to clear up band space. I'm waiting to see how BETA goes and how stable the game is once you have thousands of players and NPCS all talking at once.
VOICE or VOICES? Because I'm pretty sure there's an article that's stated that there will be VOICES to choose from... can't recall which article exactly atm...
It would only make sense to have multiple voices... in a faction where there are 4 classes, thus only four voices if each class has one voice, grouping together with only other members of the same faction... It would be pretty weird to have 4 male Jedi grouped up and they all sound the same hehe
--- But sadly, no answer... It's still impressive to have your character voiced - but no one wants to sound like a bunch of clones right? Hopefully there will be a 'pitch scaler' at least. Not hard to implement, no recording needed, just a voice filter.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

If only i could choose my voice....
Hope they improve on the UI too, maybe different theme for different class...

The voice acting was amazing, even tho' some of the voices didn't really fit to certain characters.
Also, it was wonderful to see the UI and gameplay a bit, the combat looks quite fastpaced... (Love)

From what I have seen on many of the forums that I frequent the majority like what was shown in Documentary 3,
Those saying things like crap graphics, crap AI
or Worse than WOW. That one I just don't get. WoW is and ok game but the graphics are 10 X worse than TOR
In the end some people aren't happy unless they can bitch about something. And If they can't find anything they make it up .

Yes, it's been confirmed there's multiple voice actors to choose from for each class.
Two is multiple. One male one female - accroding to Sean Dahlberg:
Sean Dahlberg: "One thing I'd like to clarify is that each class will have it's own unique male and female voice. "
