Q: Not so long ago another full loot PvP MMORPG has been released and reports of the battles in that game is that a majority of players fight naked, or near naked, because it is so detrimental to lose a full set of equipment after dying once. How will you prevent that not from happening in Mortal Online?

Why the fuck don`t you just go to the official forums for once and look up some of the dev replies. This issue has been debated to no end there and they already stated that if you fight naked you will be a very very easy kill. They are not THAT stupid you know...you ramble here all the time and mostly about stuff you are simply uninformed about.
And people in DF didn`t fight naked because they were afraid of losing stuff....they did it because it made no big difference at all while removing their own risk from the game. It`s simply fucked up balancing...blame AV.
I even looked something up for you...see it as a little pacifier for your ramblings and a little start on your way to self-inform yourself. On another note if you have questions to the devs just post them in the "Answer your questions" subforum there eh?!

From what I have read on MO forum if you fight naked you will die from 3-4 hits, if equiped you will take somewhere between 4-6

I would say that there is more reasons to run naked in MO then in DF. Hopefully things will get balanced and naked people will die from 1-2 hits.
*sigh* I guess it is not possible, even on a non official forum, to post things without having fanatic fanboys turning everything into a flamewar. Cant you go to the official forum and do that and leave this forum for objective posters?
Now, since you obviously did not understand, the purpose of this post is not for a dev to come and answer, as I have never seen a dev post here, but rather to have a discussion on the impact of full loot and weight the pros against the cons. But ofcourse that is not possible with you fanatics because Mortal Online doesnt have any flaws right?
PS. The reason I am not posting on the official forums because it is impossible to have a rational discussion there because if you say anything that is remotely seen as critical then you will be flamed by the legions of fanboys there.Kinda like... you.

Well even if they die in one or two hits then they wont have lost much have they? They will just run back without losing anything.
Having you lose everything when you die I think will make the game similar to DF in the sense that people will not use good equipment to fight. That is just common sense, why risk something you spent hours to get to lose it in seconds?
If what they are saying is that you will be completely useless without equipment then that means that after one death you are completely useless and equipment plays a major part in your efficiency? That doesn't sound very good either.
A happy balance between losing everything and losing something I think would be a much more sensible approach. Not like WoW where dying means nothing and not like DF where dying means losing everything. Asherons Call got it right, imo, you would lose X number of items depending on your level. No levels in DF but I am sure they can have a formula for converting your skill levels to something similar.

Its replies like this that makes me never visit the official forums for anything.
God forbid you actually create a new thread about a topic like this....same type of poster will tell you to "use the search function"
No, I prefer to stay on more civilized forums.
I'd like to know about this topic btw, as that's a huge failing in DF IMO, and one big reason I wouldn't play. Naked fighting should be heavily penalized so that even 20 naked warriors couldn't take down one well geared one.

then why not simply ask that question, or more specifically how MO is planning on making the pros of full loot outweigh the cons?
instead you asked one question trying to get the answer for another question... which seems all sorts of counter productive.
if you compare the "legions of fanboys" between the two official forums, like I did before choosing which game to follow.... MO is by far more accepting of critisism, and discussion about the effects of something on the game.
do i think scrooge represented himself very well.... no. however he did provide you an avenue to find the answer to the question you stated. It isnt his fault he didnt read between the lines. He shouldnt have to.

Thats a possible sollution but as I said. Problem with that would then be that the game would be very equipment based and that is generally not very popular as it would lead to NPC raiding to get/craft the best "lewt stuff".
Also it would leave new players extremely vulnerable as they would have nothing against a well equipped one.

He did not need to read between the lines. Asking a question is often a very good way to start a discussion and not the least counterproductive. It is a tactic that is used in many different debate classes to start a discussion and it is good because it is neutral. It doesn't claim anything but rather ask it.
So really, what is the problem here? Was my post offensive or something?

Number one, if you didn't want a dev to respond, then you shouldn't have made the title of the thread "A question I would really ask the devs". Number two, the above poster is correct, you should have gone to the official forums because there is a sub-forum meant for devs answering your questions. Three, stop throwing this 'fanboi' crap around. It's getting annoying. Just because someone disagrees with you about something doesn't mean they are a 'fanboi' or 'troll'. It just makes you look dumb for judging people like that.
In my opinion. I believe you should get killed in 2-3 hits without armor or some form of protection. It should take 4-6 hits to kill an adequately protected foe. That doesn't include healing potions, magical reagents for healing spells and the like. So in my opinion, it could take anywhere from 4 to say... 12 hits to kill a player depending on the resources available to him/her. That's how it should be. Everyone would get gear because it would dramatically improve their chances. Keep in mind, mages will need reagents as well to cast their spells. Otherwise, there will be naked mages everywhere. Keep in mind, these are direct hits without blocking or parrying, as there will be a fair amount of that in any fight.
Getting fully geared may take you several hours early on in your characters development. However, once you have gotten a hang of things, it could take a matter of minutes. In UO, I had a rather powerful mage. I hunted with at least one dragon. I could gear up a warrior in full plate and their desired weapon in a matter of 5 minutes. Granted, not everyone had dragons to kill more powerful beasts for them.. and mages tended to be better suited to fight the most powerful beasts in the game, rather than warriors. But still, it won't take forever to regear yourself. There should be a point in the game where it's not really an issue anymore. Unless.. you are really dumb and you suck at PvP. For instance. I remember when I used to play UO. It would cost around 1500-2000 gold to equip my warrior with grandmaster crafted armor and a grandmaster weapon. There were other armors that provided more protection, but they were made with rarer ore and they cost significantly more. For fighting alone, 2000g is typically what most people spent. Here's my point. I could take my dragon(s) to elder gazers and make anywhere from 800-1300 gold a kill. They took about.. 10-15 seconds to kill with one dragon. It may take a couple minutes for a respawn, but I could make 10,000 gold in a matter of 10 minutes or so. See what I mean? MO is so closely sculpted after UO that I'm sure things like this are going to be very similar. The system worked well.

he answered that question: if you fight naked you die twice as quick as if you fight armored.
take into consideration that means you are hit without blocking or anythign else. So an armored persons survivability is vastly higher than someone without armor. but they are slower.
so he answered your question.
what he didn't answer was the pros vs the cons of full loot and their impact in the game...... because its not what you asked.
So again, his reply made the MO base seem much worse than it is, however the way you asked your question was silly and not to the point of what you wanted to talk about.
so your Op should have been more along the lines of
"How should a full loot mmo weigh the risk vs reward of the player in a way that makes fighting with loot, more appealing than fighting without loot?
Example: Darkfall does not encourage you to use armor in your fights, as it does not signifigantly improve your performance.
Example 2: Eve encourages you to use good equipment with their insurance policy for the ship, and the noticable increase in survivability and killing ratio of a well equiped ship of any class vs an ill equiped ship of any class.
So how should Mortal weigh the risk vs reward to provide the players with a challenging game wherethey will risk their loot in ffa full loot pvp?"

Interesting. So you are blaming me for his rude and obnoxious response even though my post was not offensive in any way?
Just because you feel my post is "silly" because it does not live up to your standards on how to start a discussion does not justify him replying the way he did. Not the point of what I wanted to talk about?
The point, and it seems quite clear to me, is to discuss the effects of full loot in this game related to how it has rolled out in Darkfall. If that is not clear to some people that does not give them the right to start a flamewar, that just shows them as being a fanboy and a stupid one at that.
