L4 eve-like game(But not EVE)

Been playing X3 for a While and it's all good and all(well Good for a non-mmo) Anyhoo I'm gettin that Itch. . .
Ya know, that itch that mmo'rs get when they haven't played a MMO for months.
Here's what I've played and my dislikes
EQ2-loved the lvl pvp, Hated the way u had to get AA(if they fixed it to where you could lvl your AA via combat[not after lvl 80], I deffinantly would give it a second chance)
WoW-"oh look, there's a 70 in ashenvale" the gameplay was nice, hated the fact that there wasn't a lvl limit, and Both sides loved taking candy from babies.
Jumpgate-I have a joystick, just not that good 
kinda waitin to see how JG evolution fairs
Vendetta-Just couldn't get into a space sim with no shields
Eve- This is like an Ex-girlfriend(is it wierd saying that?) I played eve twice. Loved a Lot of things bout Eve, The squad warefare, the territory occupation. the fact that it was really geared to co-op play. BUT, I totally invested in Eletronic Warefare. and after some of the nerfs, I just couldn't continue playing her. I also hated the fact that the game felt like a baptism by fire kinda thing. I mean there's a lot of stuff that you really have to search for in the forums and such to understand(criminal timers anyone?)
So there is my Crux. I am looking for a game that really uses teamwork. Has to have a Free Trial, and averages more than 10 players at any given time. I would also like a really good crafting system(not just a money sink)
any of ya's have any ideas?

imo back to eve, but then again Im a bit biased. I have tried everything under the sun,a nd atm everything else just flat out sucks when it comes to player generated content other than eve,
The new games might change that, but after failhammer, Failcoms age of conan, and Darkfail... there really isnt much hope in me left for the new breed.
Never know might be surprised, butt ill then Im sticking with eve.

The only thing that looks promising so far as alternative to EvE is Earthrise. It's announced to have all the stuff like territory warfare, harvestable ressources, open world FFA Pv, full loot etc, but as it's not out yet, I can't tell what it'll be like in the end.
Well I guess it's eve or nothing. . . .

Read up on Mortal Online. It might not be what your looking for (and it isnt out for another two months, beta starts tommorrow), but to me it seems a lot like a mix of ultima online and eve. Also, as far as I know it will not have a trial period, but it doesnt cost anything to read about it and keep tabs on it.
If you want something that is like Eve, try Wurm online. It isn't Eve but it certainly has elements. This is a good review of it:
