I haven't played it for long, but I found the Tome, Public Quests and Scenarios/PvP Lakes (PvP) with Bolster buff to be very interesting mechanics. I could play for 15 minutes and still have fun.

Oh and btw is that your younger brother using the account again? I swear you have a split personality there buddy.

See, that's where you're missing it I think. AION's not a PvP game. AION is a PvEvP game and there's a difference from WAR. But I'll give you the same "advice" you were telling people who were leaving WAR in droves months ago; "if you play AION like you play WAR, you won't like it because it's a different game."

You need to stop nitpicking AION. You are now starting to resemble what you described about AoC fans, lol. You really should let AION alone and stay off of those forums if you have nothing good to say about a game that hasn't even released OR that you haven't even gotten past level 15 on, play it if you like but you should keep your tiny fears bottled.

Oh well, then it's all well for WAR because, just like MBJ said, one game's success is good for the whole genre. More WoW players = more MMO players - some of which will eventually find their way to WAR and other MMOs.

It turned out this wasn't just an empty rhetoric - I'd say that AoC's failure hurt WAR's sales and reception much much more than WotLK's success. A lot of people broken-hearted over AoC (and Vanguard etc) turned their anger towards WAR - they would have forgiven anything to their baby but once it turned rotten they were hell-bent on proving that all other new games suck. If AoC turned a success then the door would have been opened for other games. WAR simply came out at a bad time filled with a lot of negativity and resentment.

However even with all that I wouldn't call [WAR] a flop by far lol. I love to play it and it is the best mmo for me out at the moment, hands down. In addition I daily see people new to WAR on my server (it's not just alts and transfers by far lol). I'd say WAR has just recovered from initial subscription losses normal for any new release and is only now beginning it's true growth.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it reached 1 mil subscribers at the end of its first year - unless EA gets cold feet and does something stupid that is. From what I've seen so far there is very very slight chance of that happening, if at all.

This stuff is comedy gold. You really believed WAR was going to have 1 million subs in the coming year back in December? The truth was staring you right in the face, but you simply couldn't find a clue. Pretty sad.

Predicting the future is never a thankful business. However I still enjoy my WAR and got oodles more fun out of it than I ever had out of WoW that you so staunchily defended back then, if I remember correctly. I suppose I should appologize now for not sharing your taste? Enjoy whatever you enjoy the most, be it giant hamsters or whatever. I'd really love to share your excitement for Aion because some things in there are very appealing to me, but giant hamster grind is where I draw the line. A pity really - combining such advanced concepts as PvPvE with the oldtimer grind-inducing mechanics such as exclusively PvE grind leveling and reliance on in-game currency. Nope, sorry, but it' not my cup of tea anymore old chap.

sounds like you're about ready for FPS a'la battlefield.

Welcome to 5 years ago, if you hurry you may be able to catch up.

To the contrary, I don't think an apology is necessary at all. I already knew you had no idea what you were talking about in this game as you continually blamed customers for playing wrong. Anyone with half a brain knew Mythic had deep problems with the design of this game back in October/November.

Most of those "Wow fans" that you railed at for criticizing WAR left after the first month. That doesn't seem like they are too stupid after all of this unfolded. It looks like the average Wow gamer actually was SMART about what was going to fail, and they went back to WOTLK. If this game was as good as you kept going on daily about, it would have held their attention.

I only ask that you leave your freshman gaming opinions right here where you staked them many times as a "veteran gamer of many MMOs" and don't bring this attitude to AION. I really hope you don't play because admitted WAR fans such as yourself really don't need to try and sabotage AION with half truths ("its a grind", lol). It won't do any good, but it certainly doens't make you look any wiser. You have no idea about AION so please.. kept trying to figure out what went wrong in this game. You can say "that's my opinion" but coming from a guy who STILL thinks BWs are "nerfed to oblivion" that doesn't hold much water.

It's good you are still having fun in WAR. I remember kids picking their noses and eating boogies because that was "their thing" as well, but I just couldn't get into it.

But if you wonder why, you may have to ask yourself that question:

Dunno maybe I'm really insane... Maybe it's just this weird dream I have.. I keep making alts because the classes are all so interesting to play and I actually have no problem with open RvR. Dunno maybe I should get some professional help that'll make me understand what is obviously common knowledge here.

Rofl, wow. You seriously can't do anything but bash Aion huh. Have a chip on your shoulder? Where did I make any mention of Aion?

How about you stop shaking your head for a few minutes so your brain can actually work straight and you reread what I said.

Thank you for pointing out that im not having fun with the Aion beta. I was thinking that the reason i canceled my War sub right after beta ended monday was because after playing Aion i realized how an MMO should be. I would love to stay and be educated some more but i have giant hamsters to kill, they have big teeth.

so i've been playing this game since the very closed beta... thought i'd throw in a couple of things. First off, the game is perfect if your a PvP kind of person, the PvP in this game is by far the best i've ever played.  Better then WoW, Aion (played korean CB and OB), its even on a competitive level of battlefield. The PvE is the most laking part because i love instances, but this game just provides you with PQ(Public quests) and not really a "enter the portal and get ur raid on" type of thing. Basically i recommend this game to anyone that LOVES PvP.

P.S - No class is broken, everyone complains that BW(bright wizard) is broken but i can kill one with my Chosen tank by just putting his backlash aura on, he does 300 damage to me, i do 450 to him.....i can kill one in my maurader too by just aoe spamming him, and my bro's witch hunter can backstab a bright wizard to its death in like 5 seconds...... this is at lvl 35+ so this is pretty much end game.

Love can kill you, it can also save your life....

For me, WAR is the lone compromise between me who tired of WoW years ago, and my friends who still kind of like WoW but have an appetite for something new.

The pros and cons are endless and subjective, but quite frankly, its a great MMO to me on that pretense alone if its actually something friends of mine will pay attention to for any length of time without instantly missing WoW.

On a personal level, I think I enjoy the frenetic activity in it more than anything else. You're never more than 10 seconds of holding W from a PQ, you always have the scenario queue accessible, open world RvR is always around the corner, and there's usually one hub of instanced dungeons for your tier/level range. The latter of which is usually the furthest you have to pursue.

It's pretty hard to get bored I've found, but I've only been playing a month, and not in any kind of hardware way. I have a few characters in the 20s, and I've yet to tire of doing a PQ if I'm tired of questing, scenarios if I'm tired of PQs, RvR if I'm tired of scenarios, dungeons if I'm tired of RvR, questing if I'm tired of dungeons.

The only downside is the general attitude of the players. I've found the attitude to be the same as just about every other MMO that isn't WoW; other games are actually competitive and can have an impact on server activity and population. If an entire guild quits in WoW, no biggie. If 20 servers shutdown in WoW tomorrow, no biggie. WoW could feed 50 new MMOs and still have a decent population. Things like the Aion beta coming along though seems to have had a noticeable impact on the attitude/activity of some WAR players.
